Hey glad you liked it!
i could squat 405 and deadlift 500 before I started martial arts. it didn't help very much
Dang that's some good insight thank you!
@thestonecircle np. I'll elaborate that it had benefits of building my balance, coordination, general strength, and ability to grind. Except for the last thing, that probably gave me a 6 month headstart over a normal non-couch-potato
Bro which exercise contributed most into building your upper traps? They look nice combined with a thick neck
Hey thank you! I can def make a video about that! Lots of different types of high pulls helped the most I'd say though!
Hey man. Love all your stuff thus far! Can you list the sweet music you use?
Hey thank you! I use stuff by Alexander Nakarada, if you join his patreon you get access to a massive library (I think a lot of it's free on youtube too though!)
🎉🎉🎉
Hey hey!
This is why Farmers are strong.
Yes!
Great point, Paralysis by analysis!
So much analysis going on haha
So you're saying I won't learn to play the guitar as long as it sits in the corner collecting dust?
Haha
@@thestonecircle I want to be a rock star. I just don't want to put in. the work. Maybe if I go to the cross roads and cut a deal? It worked for Robert Johnson.
It's a very simple question. Are you a boxer who lifts? Or are you a lifter that boxes occasionally? Figure that out first and then decide which one is your sport and which one supplements your sport specific training.
Exactly!
push work in Nature!!!
Yes so much more nature footage to come :D
5:29 I needed to hear this so bad, I ain't know if I was training wrong but I guess I'll just keep going and have faith 😭
You got this!!
So if you like lifting weights, go lift weights. If you want to box, go boxing. Get a feel for your body and arrange your training routine in such a way that both feels good. I'm in the same spot, marrying kickboxing with lifting big weights. My squats took a slight hit, but I have much better results for upper body lifts like benching.
Well said!
Universally applicable - great video. I just started med school and my methods of studying are mediocre to say the least. The way I'm going feels like I'll never make it through all the material. But as you say, I'm better off spending a few hours in the library every day and eventually, I'll get better. PS - any chance of a Q&A video on increasing sandbag weights in relation to height and weight? Cheers dude.
Hey thank you! Man that's intense, best of luck learning that stuff! A long road but such a rewarding destination! I have a qna lined up that goes over sandbag weights too :)
@@thestonecircle Awesome - can't wait for the release!
I totally agree! It's definitely important to just get going with what you eventually want to do instead of undertaking more and more "preparations". That being said, I know from my own experience that it really does feel good to be strong and functional when starting martial arts training.
@@creativetraininghacks hey that's some great insight, I bet any martial art you went into you'd have a huge advantage with the strength/mass you have!
In my case i want to do boxing, greco-roman wrestling and build functional strength i do try to organize a time table for it but to just think of doing all of that makes me tired.
@vaibhavmaithani7364 it's tough trying to do a lot at once, I can only imagine how much of a beast you'll be with all three!
@@thestonecircle thanks brother.
Done and done. Succinct and well said. Cant agree more. Want to get better at something do it, suck at it, keep doing it until you don’t. 😊
@robertfeiner7409 thank you! Exactly, push through and the rewards are so worth it!
out of 3,000 languages, he chose to speak facts
Hahah 😁
You are a man of action
It took way too many years feeling stuck to figure out no ones gonna show up and do everything for me. It's been a constant snowball after that first action, just doin my best to keep going!
Really well spoken. I've been slacking in some areas but i want to incorporate everything. It just takes 7-8 hrs a day to do it so it's clearly hard to do everything everyday but the results always show when you do. Btw sandbag is crazy good. I see why you love it. Have you gotten bullworker yet? Im doing both now and feel a lot stronger
@@thestonecircle what's your max on the sandbag btw? I'm starting out with 200 lb but I feel I could do 250 six reps
@SimonGonzalOS which exercise? Most I've lifted to my chest is 300 but my best shoulder is 250 🙂 That's crazy impressive for just starting btw man!
@@thestonecircle dang man good stuff. I do a lot of isometrics so the bullworker and just isometric holds for very long time have been helping a lot. I also have that Gripzillas tornado but I'm heading the Bison grip trainer is better than that. Those grip devices work out your whole shoulder girdle
@SimonGonzalOS grip training seems to carry over so well to this stiff. I've been talking with a grip master recently, hope to have him on the channel soon to talk about it 🙂
@@thestonecircle grip training is most important strength training...it's literally the best way to get muscle recruitment...can't think of workouts better than that
Goddamn that was solid bro, well spoken and great message. We’ve all been guilty of this shit many times in life… the cold hard truth is nothing ever lines up, there’s never a right time for anything, so just fukn do it!!
@StopTheDamnTape thanks man! So true!!
Well said bro
@@Jstuckey thanks man!
💯
My philosophy is calisthenics to build muscle, weights and sandbags to strengthen the muscle. Makes a good physique and a strong functional body.
It works!
I've been homeless numerous times and bc of that even after having my own place i still make it a habit to carry my assault bag around, which is around 50 to 70lbs, when i go on walks, which is often 5 - 7 miles
Staying prepared and ready!
❤😂🎉😢😮
You are amazing! 😊
@hamadalrowaie6882 hey thank you you're amazing too!
Is walking to school with 10 kg bag counts
Definitely!
Nice detailed video on pike pushups ! 💪💪
Hey thanks man!!
Upload workouts as shorts help grow the channel without much extra work
I've been putting workout footage with the daily q&as 🙂
2 hours 5 days a week.
You're putting in the work dang!!
Callisthenics are primordial exercises. I have only been training in callisthenics for around 6 months the last 4 seriously (2-5x a week). My strength and endurance as accelerated exponentially from collapsing after 3 press ups and taking over an hour to rep 100, I am now in sets of 10-30, managing 100 in less than 15 mins. I know this is a small deal to most but I am 55 and always struggled with correct form press-ups all my life. I’m continuing on my journey with the press-ups. The next goal is a free handstand, then pull ups thereafter… I have never been so excited about training- I used to be an elite rower in my youth but never saw the gains then, that I have now!
Hey this is so great to hear!! Calisthenics really is so great, awesome progress!
Love this stuff man, I've acquired (4) sandbags over my journey. Oddly though do you do any type of cardio in the week? I personally love trail running, but don't want to overdo the running in favor of the lifting. I was just curious as to what your cardio regimen (if any) looks like. Keep up the lifting man
Hey glad to have you here sandbags are awesome! The calisthenics circuits take care of most of the cardio, (they're intense!) but I do some trail running too, it's just so fun haha. Main thing I've had to work on is eating enough food when I run, because I'll drop weight like crazy if I don't. It shouldn't affect the training too much as long as you keep up the cals!
Sneaking hundreds of push up is not really effective too I would believe. Cut it in half and put squats into the program. Simple that's it. Adding weight into it definitely cuts time later on
Really cool video! Short or micro workouts, work well alongside heavy, intense sandbag workouts. Bodyweight is king for shorter warmups for sure! What are your views on rucking? In regards to active recovery, mental health ( being outside) etc? Would be interested in your opinion.
Hey another awesome question thank you! 🙂
Very important advice! 👍
Thanks for being here every day 🙂
@@thestonecircle My pleasure 🙂
Hi! New viewer! You might be a good person to ask this: I'm currently training at a gym for the very first time (im 27) to get enough strength and health to carry a ~100lb food barrel backpack by about this time next year. Or as close as I can possibly get to that, since I'm 130lb. I know I want to start hiking at least once a month, ideally twice, but should I wear a regular backpack with gradually increasing dumbells in it, or do you think it'd be better to borrow the food barrel I would eventually be using and load that with sand or dumbells or something over time? Surely the size of the barrel would make a difference in what muscles I'd be training, right? Or should I not worry that much and just start rucking/hiking? Thank you!
Hey glad to have you here! If the barrel goes on your back like a backpack you should be able to build the strength you need using a regular backpack, but you might consider working with the actual barrel a bit too just in case there's a skill component to it. Just my opinion but if I were you I'd work up to carrying up closer to 150 if you have a backpack that can handle it. That way when it comes time for you to carry the 100lb barrel it will feel easy to you and you'll be able to enjoy your time more while going further!
Hey Cody! Got your book in the mail. Really enjoying it.
Hey heck yeah thank you I'm so glad you're liking it!!
did doing zercher squats grow your legs a lot?
Definitely!
Doing the sandbag warm up, and sandbag program.. gets me around 2hrs in a sandbag session. Even mobility, etc days takes time. I do 2hrs/day with a rest day every 4th day. It's hard to find the time tbh.
Yeah I'm usually at 2 hours for a sandbag session with warmup too, definitely a commitment!
10 to 15 minutes.
Being 44, I do 3 days a week of heavy sandbags mixed with bodyweight/weighted calisthenics for about 45-60 min depending on energy for that day. Routine is pull, push, legs and then maybe a mile run in between one of the days and 10 min of heavy bag the other day between the routine for cardio. Learned rest/recovery is important as I’m aging, a hard thing to accept but feel better tendon and CNS-wise.
Sounds like a great setup!
Another cool method is “one lift a day” … I used to do it based on 5 days, but it could easily be expanded to 7. You just work up to one or two hard sets of your exercise for the day, say deadlift or chin up as an example, then you’re done! Even with warming up it’s impossible to drag it out. It actually works really well and allows all your mental energy to go towards the one move of the day
@StopTheDamnTape that Bulgarian light style! Takes me back to Eric maxing out on hack deads every day. I never tried it myself but it seems really effective! I've actually been considering upping my sandbag frequency a lot and doing something like that with the sandbag to shoulder. My problem lately has been getting amped up past that needed upper threshold, and I always find the more I tap into that the easier it gets, so maybe a sandbag to shoulder setup for that would work well!
@@thestonecircle yeah “the Eric method” haha … could definitely have some potential, only one way to find out!! What I meant was slightly different, I didn’t express it very well… so you do a different lift each day but just one lift per day, focusing on just working up to something super intense, then that’s the whole day. So something like: M: snatch grip deadlift T: standing press W: weighted chin T: front squat F: weighted dip So each day is just like focused on that lift / particular pattern and putting all your mental and physical energy into it and going super intense / hard on the work set or sets. It’s actually a really effective way to train I found. I might give it another run at some point.
Do you think this could work with one arm pull ups or is it overkill?
@@ebrahimyounisebrahimhammad706 hey I have a lot I could say about that I'll make a vid!
calisthenics are the goat for quick workouts. yeah weighted calisthenics are cool but taking my plates out and warming up with ramping weight is annoying
@@penumbrium exactly! The efficiency of bodyweight workouts has to be one of the best parts!
"set-up" considerations are a key insight, especially if training is done at home .... depending on the movements planned to train, this can turn a micro workout, into a time investment one might not be able to afford ✔
@stevecalamars7890 those little things really add up!
As much as i love to be quick with workouts, what i enjoy with sandbags is that effort and strength i feel from the sandbag carries across the longer rests. When i lifted barbells, i really didn't rest much because i was always just incrementally increasing weight at a much lower than my max. But if i don't rest enough with a sandbag, i'm not going to get as clean lifts. That "holy shit i'm strong as hell" could carry me miles
Well said 🔥
@timmyjacobs0 I get that for sure! I like to take my time with sandbags too, to really push it!
I have 3.25 hours a week with my three day a week Fullbody setup. Adding my sandbag sessions and if I get my runs in for the week, it’ll come out to about 5 hours a week. If I get called in for a manual labor job I skip the sandbag stuff and work for two hours shoveling dirt and compost.
@tsa6394 and you're making the gains!! That's really cool about the shoveling too, makes the work feel easier knowing it counts as part of the training
Sometimes those 15 to 20 minute workouts end up being the best ones! Probably because you know you have limited time so you push the intensity 💪🏽
@Jimperial yes definitely! Work fills a vacuum or however that saying goes, the workouts I walked away from the most proud of were well under an hour!
💯
🎉🎉🎉
@@timmyjacobs0 heyy 🎉🎉
