Thanks, The compressor is much larger due to it creating additional air for starting other engines rather than just thrust. But hay, who doesn't need a bigger turbo wheel :)

@@derekbeacroft I am an engine technician, I work with tv3 117 vm engines and apu AI 9v. But we do not have a repair manual for the APU, we only have a maintenance manual. thank you

I'm in the UK and stuff seems to be rarer than rocking horse poo, that said once you have one it's a long process of research and manufacture. I make many of the parts needed. Some from eBay and altering existing stock items. It's great looking back but a real struggle moving forward. 😊

Oil is delivered by a pump at the base of the engine, the drive is taken from a 90 degree gear off the main shaft, mega RPM ! Oil is then pumped through the bearings, oil is then scavenged back into the front oil tank

Some gaskets are high temp, some normal. The gasket sealer varies too. Some is a mix of lacker and aluminium powder. Main can is just high temp silicon. I have translated the manual, way better than the Google ver. Send me a private message and I can send you some info. Do you have a controller to start it ? And are you in the UK ?? 👍

Start-ups were in the early stages of testing, It turned out the centrifugal switch was not being detected at full rpm and my control box decided the engine had not reached peek revs and shut down the fuel. All fixed on later test runs :)

Its a Old Russian design and really simple to work on, but looks more than it is !!

Hi John This APU's are designed for starting the primary engines of Aircraft. It creates massive air pressure which is piped into the primary to spin it up. So run duration is generally around 10 to 15 minuets. Longer would strain the engine or overwhelm the cooling system. I only run them up for short periods just for the sound. my maximum run time has been about 5 minuets.
