@ebikesandthings today I checked out Northwoods Trails with Art. Was awesome on the ebikes! Some of the downhill trails would be a lot of fun on the Ripley but if you are in the area for a day ebikes are the wat to go as our day was 15.2 miles with 2031ft of climbing and we stillmissed some of the trails. I look forward to heading back out and hitting some of these trails again 👍 thumbs, and dr...

Today I headed out to Pinnacle Mountain to tackle JackFork. I tacked on dynamite to extend my ride and kind of regret it. Jack Fork is the perfect mix of flow and peddling where as dynamite always seemed like I was peddling uphill somehow. I trimmed this video for time (mostly long climbs) as the total ride was about an hour and 15 minutes. I did not cut any significant parts. I.e. there are no...

Having a mental block about this drop. A few things are making me hesitate about this drop 1. You can’t see the landing until you’re about 6 feet away. 2. I haven’t done any drops this high on the ibis Ripley. It has a 120r/130f suspension and is very light compared to all of my other previous bikes with much more travel . 3. Broadside Trail! This is the main climbing trail to the top of Mount Elden to access a lot of fun downhill trails. This trail is also a two-way trail so you can descend it as well. Due to the elevation of Mount Elden this is a great trail for beginners, people that need to acclimatize to the elevation, or just work on general . Thanks man! I edit on an ipad pro. Reframe in gopro app and then do any other edits in lumafusion. When uploading choose either H.264 or HEVC. And also 4k 60. Max out bitrate as well. UA-cam is going to compress the heck out of it so I make sure every detail I film makes it in to UA-cam so it has the most information before it is compressed. 👍 editing video coming soon.😀

      Great video. Been off my bike for 3 weeks after landing on some rocks, but the pain is gone, so all good. Just need to get my head fixed due to my confidence taking a beating. I would struggle with that drop too. With a drop that I’m scared of and haven’t done beforeI kneel down at the edge and look because that is what the front wheel ‘sees’, and it feels easier. I keep that view in my head rather than the reality of looking down from the bike.

    @downhill, what is the weight difference of your EXe with this setup compared to running the main battery? 5-6 lbs less is what I would expect

    • @Downhillbothways
      @Downhillbothways 2 місяці тому

      The TQ range extender weighs 950g/ 2.094lbs The main battery weighs 1835 grams/4.045lbs. So there is a 1.951lb difference. I did not feel like the bike was any lighter. If I was blindfolded, I wouldn’t be able to tell which battery was running.👍

    • @Downhillbothways
      @Downhillbothways 2 місяці тому

      I didn’t notice anything on the downhill portions but i was not going that fast or for any sustained length of time. I more recently did a range extender battery only test with the main battery removed and also did not notice any major difference in handling. I think that ride was about 7 miles, very flowy, and not very technical

    Which type of e do you prefer SL or full power? I'm torn 🤔

    • @Downhillbothways
      @Downhillbothways 2 місяці тому

      Lol I’ve also been torn for a while! Here’s how I look at it if you are going to be a one bike person, and your rides are either short punchy climbs or flat, then the mid power. Is a great one bike to do all that you will do. If you live in mountainous, terrain, and often find yourself climbing thousands of feet of elevation over several miles then a full power would be better in my opinion. You could do this on a mid power by adding the range extender, but that makes your bike only a couple pounds away from the weight of a full power bike. Ideally what I am currently doing is I sold my mid power bike. I now have two bikes, a full power, bike, and a normal bike. PS using voice to text and I don’t know why Siri is adding commas to everything but I’m not going to fix it😆

    • @666psicko
      @666psicko 3 місяці тому

      @Downhillbothways there are a lot of good trails up there. I'm kinda ruined at the moment with full sail. If you are looking for more flow like full sail, you aren't going to get it. The only other trail on the mountain that is downhill mtb only is meteoride. It's more tech from what I've heard, but there are still some drops and jumps on it. I haven't tried it out yet. Heart is fun. I haven't ridden it in a long while though. Lunar tide is fun if you make it part of a bigger ride. Both upper and lower hot shots was fun, but I haven't ridden them this year, so I couldn't tell you what condition they are in. Pretty much if you like going downhill, this area is fun. Depending on when you come, if you have a friend to shuttle with, there is a trail up at snowbowl that gives a really long downhill. I haven't done that one yet. I heard it's fun.

      Totally agree! Someone on Trailforks called it a flow trail so I just went with that😆 after riding it I’m not sure if it has enough stuff to be called the tech Trail though it does have a few tech obstacles so I think I’ll call precision Trail. That was fun to watch! I ride that trail all the time, so it gives me a great appreciation of how the camera distorts the trail (I use UA-cam to preview new trails, especially when I travel). The camera's wide angle also gave me an appreciation of what I don't even SEE when I ride. Quanah has fun downhills and plenty of uphills to make it good for fitness. It didn't hurt my feelings to hear you breathing hard and to see you miss the two hills I struggle with the most. Come back and film El Bandito. IMO, it's the hardest trail.... you can hit it directly from the opposite end of the parking lot, though it starts with a nasty climb doing it that way.

    Hero with max lens gives a much better field of view than the Osmo action 4 even though on paper both of them are supposed to give a 155 degree fov. Wind noise also stands out with the Osmo Action 4. With the Osmo Action 4 the yellow gravel is also overexposed quite a bit, which makes colors feel off a bit too. To me the Gopro footage looks more appealing for multiple reasons even though I would be ready to be convinced by the osmo action 4.

    Yeah that climb sucks. 😂. Climbing back up the down hill is an easier climb than the “correct” direction. Good job on clearing the trail. Also the section from the top of main current down to Ridge Crossing is fun.

      Definitely was! Was just re-watching my ride and wishing I had done it again! Unfortunately, with towards the end of my ride and I was already kind of tired, but next time I drive through there again I will be hitting that trail first
