Two years later, and I watched this episode for the first time this morning. (GRAVITY FALLS SPOILER WARNING) I loved how this “hero v. hero” cliché was handled, as it showcases an accurate parent-child breakaway due to the former’s concern for the latter’s safety. Eda, to some extent, becomes Stan Pines, who pushes Ford and the twins away for the safety of his living family. Both Stan and Eda underestimate what their children are capable of, but both end up doing themselves AND their loved ones more harm than good by halting the latter’s involvement. Eda even lies to Luz so she can remain optimistic and stand aside, much like how Stan lied to Dipper in an attempt to keep the latter away from the town’s many dangers. Of course, Luz and Dipper understand their guardians’ intentions, but refuse to listen, and a fragile rift grows as a result. These rifts then halt progress as cooperation amongst our heroes without incident has resulted in success. The gloomy lighting and intense music amplify the amount of distress between the two, and their facial expressions and voice deliveries show just how much pain they feel pushing each other away. The love between them is not challenged, but rather fuelling their breakaway. Parents SHOULD protect children when necessary, but that’s not the overall goal for parents. Kids should be raised with some degree of freedom, so they can live their own lives in the world they inhabit and be prepared for any potential danger that ensues. This whole episode was such an unexpected emotional rollercoaster. I’m SO ready for the final two episodes!

I *just* noticed that when Eda calls Owlbert, she tries to catch Luz to keep her from falling, but she's a split second too late.

The fight choreography is amazing and really shows the character's abilities and feelings It starts with Luz using a weak ice glyph so eda wouldn't get hurt too bad. Eda could've probably easily gotten Luz right at the start but was still hesitant Then eda decided to go all out and command owlbert to her side and went straight for luz Then Luz used a light glyph which she knew would only stun eda She then uses an invisibility glyph to further avoid eda However eda uses her heightened senses to find luz Then when Luz tries using an ice glyph again to slide past, eda has much quicker reaction time and breaks it them immediately Flies ahead of Luz and gets close up so it's difficult for Luz to use glyphs This whole fight they both aren't even trying to harm each other, just accomplish their respective goals out of genuine care for the other

I really wish Eren had more chances to use the Warhammers powers.
