I've created this channel to detail my HPDE journey. I am starting as a beginner with no previous track experience to hopefully improve such that I will feel comfortable to travel to more technical tracks in our area and hopefully my "bucket list" track, Watkins Glen International.

My brother from another mother Lance is pushing his open-diff GTI to the limit in this clip. Another great day at Putnam with the Evil Kitty Club being represented well in the Intermediate Group.

Here are some of Karen's hot laps since the weather was cooperating with cooler temps and low humidity. She chasing me but 5 cylinders won out over 4 cylinders this time. She's killin' it!

It was too damn hot to get my best speeds that pushed up to 127mph back in May but 125 ain't too shabby. I managed to get a few 1:24 laps with my best of the day at 1:24.005. May not have broken any records but these days spent with "The Boys" are always a hoot!

This was the third session of the day on Saturday before it got so brutally hot. A few of my best laps that were seldom repeated as the temperature got warmer. We probably lost 20 HP later in the day due to 90 degree temps and a ton of humidity. Finally approaching the teens but 1:21.207 was my best lap time to date.

A few of my fastest front straight runs. Finally breaking through 130MPH. Previously my best were in the mid-120s on this track. Not bad for a stock tune, higher temps and no go-fast additions of any kind.

This was early in the day after an initial shake down run. Not my best effort but had a blast. Finally starting to feel as comfortable as I did in our Golf R. My wife Karen matched me with her personal best lap in the Golf R at 1m:23s. She has 4 cylinders, I have 5 but am untuned where she is Stage 2 full-bolts ons (400HP). We're having a blast driving together.

First real weekend with my properly sorted Audi TTRS. I set a new personal best of 1m:22s:350 which is over 2 seconds faster than I've ever done in the past. I still need a lot more seat time as I know my car is capable of shaving 5-6 seconds off my best, minimally.

Karen drove her Golf R very well and I was happy to see her getting faster. Still have a couple of habits to break but Novice is where you work those out. This was a day well spent doing the "Drive the Glen" event with Race Car team owner and driver Victor Franzese. Since I was a child, Victor was an idol of mine. Sadly, Victor passed in August of 2021 but his influence on me is why I'm doing the HPDE events now. I hope he can see me pushing it as hard as I can in his honor.

These are a few of Karen's final laps in session 5. Karen has participated in just 3 weekends and is learning and driving fast. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties her telemetry wasn't available. Karen has no issues with speed but braking and when to apply throttle are skills that come with experience. I better keep my A-game going or I'm going to be giving her a point-by.

My last 7 laps at Putnam Park with an instructor teaching me more advanced techniques typically reserved for Intermediate students. I have now reached a point where my Michelin PS4S 300 tread wear tires are no longer going to withstand the forces generated by my car. It's time for Extreme Performance 200 tread wear tires for the hot, dry days on track. My 300s will be reserved for rain use.
