You have to realize that in Czechia, not many adult people speak English on a comfortable personal level, and because of their East-oriented accent, it is pretty difficult to learn. They used to speak German or Russian rather than English because of historical connections. If they feel comfortable communicating, they are very open and friendly people.

An Italian disliking Czech food. Totally fair. In our defence, we don't get as much sun for juicy vegetables, and many "traditional" meals were created to sell more beer.

I get why the french guy say that he speaks and nobody gives him a reaction to what he is saying. Its becasue sometimes its hard to understand French trying to speak english. His english seems ok for me, but i have some experience with French accent a bit. But it is very difficult to pick up the words.

Learn Dutch than you wont have as mutch problems whit these things that make sense when your going to live in the Netherlands. I also think that speaking English should be somewhat discouraged because in the Netherlands it is expected that Dutch is the main language. When I go to Ameika I do not expect to meet anyone who speaks Dutch, so that is why I would adapt if it is comes to language and norms and values

We have people from around 200 countries living in Berlin, and there are more than 1,000 languages. The only people who complain about being expected to learn German are some Westerners - even though it would be particularly easy for them. That's a paradox! On the subway, I often ask the people sitting next to me (in German) what language they just spoke and how is the life in their country. That's how I get to know the world! I suggest you ask Germans who live outside Germany about their ability to integrate and their language skills. That way, viewers can make a comparison.

Hey hey. Thank you for your suggestion. I will give my best to integrate that. Although I try to ask people from different backgrounds, since the focus of the channel is how it feels to live in particular countries/cities.

Karl's take on racism is very much a part of the problem with racism in Berlin. It's unfortunate that so many white "expats" downplay it at the cost of minorities. Most peoples' experience of racism is not getting free stuff. Sharing a cute story and getting painfully pedantic about the meaning of racism does not contribute to the conversation, it just distracts. The guy is obnoxious.

regarding the languages: We Dutch are a trading country. to make it easier for our trading partner, we like to adapt. this is deeply rooted in our culture. that is why we learn so many languages at school. we all get English and then depending on the level we also get German, French, Greek, Latin and possibly other languages. so please don't take it amiss that we want to make it easier for you, and please ask us if we want to speak Dutch with you. Then we will do that with all our love. because there is nothing more beautiful than a foreigner who takes the trouble to learn our language. however, we might need a reminder every now and then to speak Dutch with you.

Ex-Citizen of Amsterdam here. Exactly. The Netherlands may present itself as a fairy tale, but the reality is a nightmare-especially if you have children who need "fitting edication' They will witch-hunt you, and if you're lucky, they won’t take your children, as happened in the 'Toeslagenaffaire,' where many mistakes were deliberately concealed by the Dutch Tax Department. This led to numerous parents losing their homes, their children, and their jobs. Some even t0 ok their own lives because the system failed them. I’m really glad I left this country. I would advise others against moving to, especially with children. Amsterdam, but the rest of the Netherlands is not what it used to be.

I am a Basque-Spaniard who lived two times on the Netherlands (6 months and 6 months). I did realized quite quick that I would have to start leatning Dutch in order to live full-time in the country, which is the way it has to be. Dutch is beatiful language and the locals were very friendly and helpful with me. Englisj should be just for bussiness and to get by, otherwise one wants to soeak its own language and not English. There is no more great thing than speak your own language in your own country and not invasive languages bring outsiders

I'm Czech and I've lived in Canada for 20 years and now I live in San Francisco. Many Czechs think that they're "pupek světa", the top of the world, and that the world owes them, probably because of the "čecháčkovský" syndrome as Czechs feel wronged by what happened in the past - Chamberlain deceit, Communist regime, etc. Many are rude and struggle to accept something and someone new, as they're paranoid they're going to be harmed again... That's just my opinion, many put up a harsh front only because they're deeply insecure and vulnerable inside.

I don't quite understand the need for these videos to differentiate Catalans from the rest of Spaniards, as if Catalans were the only ones with their own traditions and cultural aspects. Galicia, Asturias, the Valencian Community, Andalucia and even Murcia, etc, are they less or something? The funniest thing is that some of these foreigners have not even visited other parts of Spain, they think that by going to Malaga or Madrid they already have it made and have the balls to give their opinion without knowing. The only one who more or less seems to make more sense is the Australian guy but even so, many of the things he says can be extrapolated to other parts of Spain and are not generic to Catalonia. Honestly, I don't really understand the need to make these videos, they only serve to get on people's nerves and generate unnecesary frictions in the community and also by making them, you show that you don't really understand how Spain truly is.

I’m Dutch, but didn’t come to the Netherlands until I was 17, being born abroad. Born on a pacific island, grew up in Kenya. So I view Dutch and the Netherlands not really as a native Born and Bred Dutch citizen. I can relatie to most of what these ladies are saying. Being very cosy with your family is a choice, we have a joke about marrying an Italian that you always get the mother-in-law along with the marriage. And she is the boss. No Dutch people prefer their independance over interference. The language thing I totally disagree. To learn a new language involves effort. Simply put: if you don’t put in the effort and time you will never learn to speak the local language. Ex. At my work years ago there was an Englishman whose Dutch was perfect. Apparently he mastered Dutch within a year by refusing to speak English, but struggled on in Dutch whenever he tried to speak. ( or so he told me) The reason we have agenda’s is because we mostly have very full schedules. . Only people who have plenty of time to waste can be spontaneous with their time. ( the unemployed, non committed or pensionados) yes we are a very busy people, maybe that’s why our production is so high. On the other hand it means we get more vacation time where we can be spontaneous. I’m personally quite spontaneous. Example: I was hosting christmas on the 25th when I saw an advertisement for the musical Frozen in Scheveningen on Christmas day. I just thought f***, purchased tickets, We had a fantastic day, walked on the beach, saw the musical and had dinner at a fastfood on the pier! Best christmas ever! I do things like this all the time and blame it on my ADHD!

I know some Dutch people that moved to Italy for that amazing culture but came back. They did learn the language but it didn’t work out because this chill culture they have also means many times they couldn’t get things done or would take a lot of time. You make appointment with a mechanic, he doesn’t show up. Make appointment at city office, they are closed even though you have appointment. Etc etc. You can complain about agenda’s but that is how to be more efficient. Perhaps that’s why Italy needed lots of EU money. And yes after so many years in the Netherlands you should speak the language otherwise you don’t want to be here. I am sure your precious Italian accent won’t suffer from it.
