No you don’t need a car to enjoy Whitby there’s trains and buses that you can take to get there. And once your there everywhere’s accessible by walking.

Yes, I believe you can use a Suica card to get around on the Fujiyuko line, we didn’t go to Chureito Pagoda as we didn’t have time, we hope you a great trip and enjoy your time 😁👍🏻

The majority of people choose not to ski and there is a big hotel you can hang around with a cafe, as well as viewing from different points and there was no fee for viewing…. I’m sure they are happy for the custom at their facilities 👍🏻
