    If an athlete is using an AFJ judge, their scores should stand. CrossFit should just verify the video by making sure there isn’t any clear cheating. The judges are professional and are watching the athlete from different angles that an online judge can’t see.

    Spin, I like your idea. At some point you need to separate the competitors from the participants. Those who are, or think they are competitive need to pony up for video review. ALL who pony up and believe they are competitive will get video review AND will be in a position to move on. Those who do not will not be in a position to move on. Kind of like the Open where if you do scaled you will always fall below everyone who does Rx on leaderboard. The one thing I do not like in your idea is giving an athlete the opportunity to redo their workout if the video review is not favorable. No redoes in live competition and there should not be online either. Athletes must put their best effort (video) forward on first attempt. No redoes. CF HQ whole love this idea because they will get more money (for video review). Overall. seems like a win for HQ, competitive athletes and participating athletes.

    If CrossFit is going to send out judges to different areas, why don't we just bring back friggen regionals. That was Hiller who asked Paige if she could have beaten her penalized score by just rowing and snatching.

    CrossFit needs to go to a pro license system. Just like golf, you earn points for finishes in CrossFit licensed events. The games season runs as it does, but only athletes with pro cards are scored against athletes with pro cards.

    Make the Open matter. Top 10 go directly to Semis.

  • @crossfit.thomas

    the topic of watching all 500+ people in front of Paige doesn't matter, as long as they are continually watching the top 40, to make sure the top 40 are doing the movements to standard. If you say 500 people in front of Paige didn't do the movements to standard, fine. Even if you eliminate those 500, she's still outside of the top 40. do you think Paige cares if she's 650th or 45th? either way, she's out of qualifying.

    • @nathanbender6631
      @nathanbender6631 День тому

      That’s not correct tho. If only 99 athletes submitted videos for workout 1 for instance, Paige becomes 100th and she qualifies overall in the top 40th for semis. She finished top 40 in the WORLD in the other 3 workouts and top 16 or better in all 3 other workouts in NA East. She would have qualified. That’s the argument saying it’s unfair that the other 500 people ahead of her in workout 1 weren’t reviewed, it literally keeps her out of the semis.

  • @lynnnjerik
    @lynnnjerik 2 дні тому

    I agree with most of the comments here. Justin, Koski, Colten &others have mentioned how they review their own videos, redo workouts, submit slower scored videos to make sure they are to standard. So if you are trusting someone else with your entire season, that's on you. And also by definition, them reviewing Nick & Paige to place them at a better place because their making a deduction is unfair treatment. And tough to judge a step up, stand straight at the top of the box🤣 that's it

  • @Nathaniel_Scott
    @Nathaniel_Scott 2 дні тому

    I would say for Quarters, HQ should just give the power to 100-200 L1 Staff who they trust to judge. Those judges get paid to go in person to anyone serious about making the games or even semis. Their in person call is final. Other people who don’t pay for those judges are subject to video review.

  • @Nathaniel_Scott
    @Nathaniel_Scott 2 дні тому

    Spin’s idea of video review with time left to re do is a good one. If HQ could do it, that would be the challenge.

    • @lynnnjerik
      @lynnnjerik 2 дні тому

      I disagree, this will take too much time and that's what you as the athlete are supposed to do. Rewatch your video & make sure everything is good, if the top athletes are doing it, why aren't the others doing it?

  • @helsonalbernaz8207
    @helsonalbernaz8207 2 дні тому

    “If Andrew hiller cant judge somebody without getting penalized than I think there’s a problem”. But who said that Hiller is the judge of all judges? He’s just a guy that sits on a chair, goes hard on people watching their videos, pausing and zooming the reps, playing the video in slow motion. Pretty sure anyone can do that to, but judging in person, in real speed is a bit different.

  • @AdamS447
    @AdamS447 2 дні тому

    Even the most professional and long standing sports rarely ever go a year without a hiccup or a controversy, example F1 and football practically have one every week, it’s hard to avoid when you’ve got so many moving pieces, I think the community just needs to stop freaking out at every little thing and let it play out

  • @markp1763
    @markp1763 2 дні тому

    Interesting watching Jonne Koskis new video him talking about how he re-did the first workout and chose to send the slower time specifically because the box step ups didn’t look good, shows that athletes can and should be checking these things despite your judge, I believe Migala and Ricky spoke about doing did the same

  • @chrisdeeming8573

    Tyler's solution but top 100 in the open go straight to semis? Then the open matters and the likes of Tia don't have to turn up and compete against the 76th percentile at a "local comp" ????

    What is important to consider is that athletes should be allowed to make “mistakes” on 1 workout when all their other workouts are perfect and they are in the top 10. It should be possible for top athletes to “correct” one bad workout by 3 good workouts, but if they drop Paige to 700 she has no chance to correct that. That’s whats unfair. Maybe there should be a cap, like you can drop down max. 50-100 places in each workout with a penalty or something.

    If they go with the more competitions per year to get to the games they should make your open placement as the qualifier for each competition. Not have one for Torian-Rogue ect. That way they still make money from the open to support the games the community is still doing the open and the top athletes will have to take the open seriously if the want to go to the qualifying competitions.

    Example. East Region Crash Crescendo - Top 15 FOTC - Top 15 "Last Chance,Quarterfinals" - Top 10. 11-51 ranked in quarterfinals get invited to a "community" semifinals at their semifinals. To showcase their abilities but their scores won't count. All workouts will be the same for both semis and community semis

  • @benital165
    @benital165 2 дні тому

    Everyone who wants to go to semis must submit a video. If you don't, you can still be on the leaderboard, but then crossfit can filter out those that don't submit a video for the semifinalists. So if you get penalized and move down, you can only go below people who submitted videos. Would that help?

    • @littleanina8765
      @littleanina8765 2 дні тому

      Even Only below people whose videos got reviewed? If they dont have the capacity to go down to low, just cap it at a certain point, so that athletes can’t fall to maybe rank 600…

  • @TheCluniesadventures
    @TheCluniesadventures 2 дні тому

    Online competition is stupid, in person "tour" style is the only way to go. Or have the semi-final where there is a $2000 buy in and let all commers have a go to qualify for the games, the price point will put of all weekend warriors 🤔 Sanctionals were amazing, just needed some time to mature and weed out the weak.

  • @Drewsky_16
    @Drewsky_16 2 дні тому

    To expand on Tyler’s point of a longer season… sounds like we are essentially mirroring what golf does and have numerous events which are used to qualify for the Masters, etc

  • @station2fitnessgym916
    @station2fitnessgym916 2 дні тому

    If there's already a community event for each semifinals, then make the open and Quarterfinals for the "last chance qualifier athletes" Those that want to compete at the games...each region holds 2 competitions a year for athletes to compete at, must compete at both(sanctionals style, to qualify for semifinals). Then leave 5-10 spots in the open and quarterfinals for those last chance athletes. And then the quarterfinals(take the next 40-50 to let them compete in the community event), same semifinal workouts, but their scores won't count towards semis, only to "community games" in that region. So you also get to see some up and comers in the same semifinal.

    US is Strength, Europe is Cardio says John. He's right. To me, that's a cultural thing. Whether in Europe or in the US, kids grow up liking Football (It's the most popular sport, isn't it?). They want to mimic their idols. American Football is Strength/big powerful guys. European Football - Which is actually played with one's feet and a ball. You, US people, call it Soccer 😂 - is Cardio/lean skillful guys.
