    If Gussie Busch doesn’t order Carlton traded, I believe the Cardinals win at least 1 maybe 2 WS championships. I also believe they would’ve been in the playoffs nearly every year. Carlton went 27-3 his 1st year in Philly. The Phillies went something like 56-106. What could’ve been.

    I have been a NY Mets fan since 1967 but Ted Simmons is my favorite player. Saw him hit a grand slam against the Mets at Shea in 1975 off John Matlack a starter who was brought in to relieve. Neither of my friends spoke to me on the whole hour and a half trip back to Long Island after the game. Then in 1979 was at Dodger Stadium with my cousin for Dodgers - Cardinals. Simmons hit 1 HR early in the game then in the top of the 9th with the bases loaded and the Cards down by 3 runs Ted comes up. I said to my cousin who is a Dodgers fan this guy is going to hit a home run! My cousin said you’re crazy he already hit one he’s not going to hit another. I told my cousin I’ve seen this before so trust me he’s going to hit a grand slam and Ted did. I got up started cheering and yelling. My cousin grabbed me by the shoulder and said sit down I want to get out of here alive. Two of the greatest baseball games I’ve ever been to!

    Uecker caught Gibson a total of 17 times in '64-'65, although Uek didn't play full games in all of those. Team record in those games in '64 was 6-1 and in '65 4-5 and 1 tie/suspended game at Wrigley opening day. Shannon caught a total of 5 games in 9 years.

    @dahillbillynews5923 Рік тому

    I have been an Umpire for over 25 years and during that time I did as much teaching than anything else and that is teaching Players, Coaches (Managers), and Moms and Dads, and the thing I found most interesting is the number of players that DO NOT KNOW THE RULES OF BASEBALL, the the Managers that DNKTROB and that includes MLB players and managers. But 1 thing I will say that in these 25 years I have done everything from LL 12U, High School, JUCO, College, Men's adult League Ball, Both Softball and Baseball and it has been as much fun and interesting as being a Firefighter for 25 years. I have had a very rich life and have been Privileged to serve my community in two very different ways and had a blast doing it. God has truly Blessed me and I am proud of what I have done in my life much like Joe has done in his Life. You GO JOE (My homie).

    I was devastated that my Yankees could lose. A lot of talent sitting there.

    • @ericgalati2721
      @ericgalati2721 Рік тому

      Dear Mister Farmwald, The New York Yankees were nevertheless fierce and took it to seven games. I take nothing away for a victorious team and I do not believe in luck in Baseball. But I'm severe when it comes to honesty. 1. Manager Yogi Berra should never had Pitcher Whitey Ford start Game I or play at all. His arm was injured with muscular problems. 2. Although Second Baseman Bobby Richardson is still one of the fiercest hitters in World Series history, despite his excellent fielding, perhaps the finest in the Major Leagues for he covered more ground than anyone including Pittsburgh Pirate Second Baseman Bill Mazeroski, Richardson contributed to the loss of two Games in this series: 4 and 5. 3. I am all for the victory of an opposing team., yet whether for mine or the opposition, I cannot accept deceit and dishonesty. In the bottom of the 9th inning with one out of Game 5 Saint Louis Cardinal Pitcher Bob Gibson made an outstanding play of a ball that lined into his leg from the strong bat of Yankee First Baseman Joe Pepitone. Except for one fact! Pepitone was safe but called out. Leftfielder Tom Tresh hits a home run to tie the game 2-2. Now, if the call had been correct then Tresh's home run would have resulted in a Yankee 3-2 victory. Unless of course given the adversity tension Pitcher Gibson might have got him out, given the stronger will of pitchers back then. If a walk off home run by Tresh the Yankees would have wrapped it up in six games. FACT: Second Baseman Richardson lost it for them and of course the Cardinals had to take advantage of this which they did: not luck but persistence in adversity. One undeniable FACT which has to be faced: the wrong call of Pepitone out at first was dishonest and hence this series as beautiful as much of it is, is in an historical trash bin for me. The Yankees were robbed of this World Series victory. My eyes are not Wide Shut. God Bless, Eric Galati

    I just watched him umpire amazingly in a wildcard playoff game and I’m more pissed at him than ever. That tells me he is capable of doing a good job but won’t unless it’s the playoffs. In the regular season he is more focused with getting the game over with and going home.
