B&S 17.5 HP engine rebuild
Переглядів 22 тис.12 років тому
Showing the results of running this engine out of oil. Previous owner ran it out of oil, and I am just rebuilding it for fun. Purchased the replacement parts cheap on eBay. There is some damage to the crankcase, but it still runs. To fix it the correct way would cost more than a new engine, so its not worth it. So this is an experiment to see how long the engine lasts with used parts and LB Wel...
Tacoma Speedometer Part 2

Repairing the Speedometer on my 1996 Tacoma. The speedometer on my truck was reading faster than the truck was going, so I decided to take it apart to see if I could fix it. This is my first video of a car repair, so it is a little long since I don't have video editing software yet. I subscribe to some other tuber's who make car repair videos, and I have learned a lot from them, so I decided to...

unless you have an ultrasonic cleaner to dip a carb body into, no need to remove carbs from baseplate.
wait a sec. dija install the float valve seat without its alloy washer >>???? use a dab of grease on the choke plunger so it wont stick after months in storage. u forgot to attach the operating lever on the choke linkage.
Do you rebuildcarbs to
This is the exact and best video ive been looking for for a long long time. Thank you
Great video very helpful 👍🏻
Those arent phillips they are japanese standard and thats why they always get stripped on the old hondas
obviously not the same as my v65. this must be a 750 or something.
The plug your not sure what it's for is for the dash clock.
Are they Keihin carbs? If so, what is the model numbers stamped on the float bowl flanges
What about syncing them together?
I took my magna to a shop to rebuild my carbs. $1300 later and it runs much better. Id like to think i could have done it myself after watching your video. And all the hose fittings have plastic zip ties. I think 1300 was way too much. Uggg
I love you! I love v65s and your videos the best I've seen for any vehicle repair. I got 3000gtvr4, Miata and 240sx so I've seen a few lol
I'm having that exact problem with my speedometer
Great video. However, I found on an early version (1996) the speedo needle was attached so tightly that I had to do a lot of twisting and pulling to get it off. The underlying speedo mechanism is too fragile for the stress, and I wound up with a twisted and bent speedo shaft. I also found quite a bit of play of the speedo shaft in its bearing. There was also side to side play where the speedo shaft rides in the spinning disk. I suspect that the play (at least some of it) is due to wear, and the copper speedo disk wobbles in the spinning disk and leads to the speedo screeching. It could be that cleaning and lubricating the area between the copper disk and the spinning disk would stabilize the wobble, but you have to get the speedo needle off to get there. Maybe it can be cleaned and lubricated without removing the needle and faceplate. Short version: do not yank on the speedo needle.
5:07 is the choke plunger that he is installing and struggling with. I find it much easier to leave the actuating rod off, and install the plunger, then plunger spring, followed by the retaining cap. THEN, put the end of the rod with the spring in place into the the eyes on the carb body and then rotate the rod with the hooks catching the groove on the end of the plunger. After that, slide the plastic sleeve in from the end, and then install the linkage bracket and retaining nut on the end of the rod. I have 83 and 85 V65 Magnas.
Future new rider here. is this for a 500 or 750 or either or? Sorry completely new to this stuff
Hola amigo me podrías decir cual es la numeración de las membranas ?
Hola, cual es el número de la membrana de vacio ?
Hi, I bought a disassembled Honda Vf 400 f from 1982 and I'm going crazy trying to assemble those carburettors, this video helped me a lot! thanks, from Argentina
Where can I buy a new one? It’s the same one you have
Could you make a video of putting the fuel linkage line on there back together?
Amigo yo tengo una necesito un mecánico
My speedometer is running slower. Same problem?
Makes me glad my 84 700 magna is running great.
Good video till the end did not show how to put it back together
Plunger was installed incorrect
Nice e firestorm in the background. I just rebuilt the carbs on my 84 vf1000f, now I have to tackle my 86 v45 magna
Good stuff! Are you putting a turbo back in it?
Yes. It going back the way it was when I bought it. The only difference will be the type of piston. Dished vs the flat top that was in it. I want to see how this setup performs before making any big changes.
When you can get these carbs dialed in, these bikes are runners! Great attention to detail. Thank you for sharing.
Can you please let people know those are not Phillips screws they are jis and they will strip the shit out of them if they use a regular Phillips
a set of JIS screwdrivers will save you a lot of time swearing - DAMHIK
Нихуя не понял
Can you explain me how you separated the carbs from 5:48
Thanks man! Mine was reading way low with the needle well below the zero and making a TERRIBLE noise when it was cold. I took everything apart as shown here, cleaned the old dried up grease and lubed everything up with ATF. All is good now!
Free Tech advise! Honda V4 Carbs! I love this! Thank You!! We love these carburetors! What carb cleaner did you use?
Its posible adjust tachometer I put one of 6 cylinder on a 4 cylinder and reads 750rmp on cold idle and scanner shows 1037 How Fix Fix that
Great job to this explanation. Very easy to understand. Thanks for your time!!
Hello, good day, I need help, I want to buy a complete kit for the Mikuni 4-mouth carburetor for my honda magna V30 vf 500 of 1985, please, I want to know where to buy them, I am from Argentina .. And I want to buy the spare parts in States United by Internet I await your response thank you
Do i have to seperate the carburetors? Or can you clean the floats and replace the gasket and stuff without separating all four?
You can do that without separating but there are o-rings for the fuel tubes between the carbs that should probably be replaced. Also cleaning the fuel enrichment passages is a good idea. I just finally got mine running great without any tuning so far. The chain however sounds horrible.
Yea i plan on getting a ultrasonic cleaner and a carburetor kit from billyC and doing it myself soon.
I am about to tackle this same project. The task that scares me the most is getting them all in sink with each other. Do you have any advice on that?
I didn't remove the screws for the throttle plates, so they should be fairly close to being in sync. There is a small pin hole near the throttle plate when it closes, if you set the adjustment screws so that each carb throttle plate is in the same place relative to this hole it will be pretty close. I have not had a chance to really sync them yet, as the bike is still not done. Still trying to figure out the fuel system. Having trouble finding a really low pressure pump.
If you haven’t synced the carbs yet, do what was previously said but start with cylinder #1 carb because that has the idle adjustment then set the other carbs the position of that one. I guess I’m not really sure how much that matters but I read that somewhere, possibly in the manual.
@@Addison0526 Addison you are correct in beginning at Carb #1, as it the set point in the process. The remaining carbs are all subservient to #1 setting, and must be adjusted in sequence. For" Bench Syncing" I use a thin Guitar E string(wire) or similar hard wire, to set all Throttle Valves "Butterflies." Take Guitar [(wire) #1 carb first] and insert at bottom of throat then adjust Flap until you can just barely pull it out. Repeat wire technique on the other 3. You can visibly confirm if you are proceeding in proper sequence, by watching if the previously adjusted Carb Flap changes position. If it does, you are not in sequence. Another small tip is to thoroughly spray down the carbs with degreaser ( I use Zep then SeaFoam spray) and blow down entire area with compressed air, prior to starting any removal. This obviously prevents surface dirt and debris from entering later. Also take a marker and identify and number each carb before breaking them apart. I have actually taken a razor knife and make 1-11-111-1111 nicks on the bowls and body to keep track.
Hey, do you have any more videos of your carb project for your v45 magna?
I have one more of the final assembly of the carbs. I'll post it soon.
Did you posted it?
That plug may be wiring for the clock. That’s where it goes
Yes, that is just a dummy plug to hold the wiring harness in place in Tacomas without the optional digital clock.
Great video. You convinced me not to attempt it!
was it hard to get the speedometer cable back into the speedo I read it was very difficult. was it for you thanks.
Parts numbers?
استفدت من الفديو كثير شكرا
Nice video. My question is did you lubricate the speedometer cable when you had the cluster out? Mine makes noise when it's cold and I'm hoping I can just spray something down the inside of the cable from the top that will loosen it up again. Not sure what kind of lubricant I should use, something light viscosity like WD 40 or silicone, or something a bit more tacky that will stick to the inside of the cable sheath better? Also, did it look like there was enough space to spray something down the cable or is it sealed at the top? Thanks in advance! Mark
Mark R what kind of noise ,a popping sound?
Any idea where to buy used riding lawn mowers cheap? I've tried google, Craig's List, Ebay, etc., and all I ever find is new and slightly used stuff for high dollar prices.
It looks to me like the piece of the block where the cam fits in is broken off (@ 0:19). There's no way that cam bent like that without damaging the block. Is that engine still in service???
Awesome video. Hey have you got the ring installation video yet? Also did you make a video of how to tear down to the piston I want to do a ring job on my lt1000 mower and also my exhaust valve is covered in black all over and about 2/3's of the exhaust valve is coated with a huge 2 mm thick coating of white power looking stuff any ideals? It ran good and started good still runs good but have to boost it to get it to start even a new battery wont start ot without boosting its soooo tight compression wasnt this way before. Thanks for any help in advance.
