It's such an irritating sound 9.5/10 times. It's either incessant hissing/sizzling or wet/drippy very very rarely can I enjoy rain sounds even irl which sucks

I followed the link you gave here and I seem to here a faint ringing sound in the black screen video that I don't hear with this one. Can you hear it too or is it just my headphones? Edit: Nevermind, this one has it too later in the video (example at 1:31:51). Might just be my headphones!

They don't want to be forced into it. That's their point.
You're not forced to do anything - it's not like UA-cam is broken if you can't watch six hours of rain sounds without any ads. Not being able to use YT for this one purpose is an inconvenience that comes with not paying for the premium function. Originally, UA-cam was free - but it wasn't meant to host videos that play for >6 hours. We've come a long way from videos that were 10 minutes maximum to an all-purpose video platform that's a massive internet library (and archive) containing almost everything - reviews, lectures, music, DIY tutorials, ASMR, podcasts, entertainment. Criticizing that the ad algorithm hasn't figured out where to put the ads to minimize distractions - when someone is using UA-cam for a purpose it wasn't even made for - is weird. It's like people take UA-cam for granted, until it gets pay-walled behind a subscription completely one day.
