Process of making a sloyd style knife out of a bearing, using only simple DIY and hand tools. Steel: high carbon 52100 bearing steel Handle: mango wood Sheath: leather The whole project took me around 3 months to complete, which is not reflected in 10:30 minutes of the video, the result is nice though :) Music: Fireball Musician: Gvidon URL: pixabay.com/music/fireball-139063/ Music: Happy Strum...

Making a small full tang wood carving knife from a worn spade bit. The handle scales are made of ipe wood scraps and an aluminum ferrule. Such a knife is useful for whittling small figures and some wood carving works.
Making two woodcarving skew knives from a rusty diamond saw

Using an old diamond saw blade to make two skew knives. This knife type is great for wood and leather work, and is the original "utility knife". Handles are made of walnut strip and mango branch. I experimented with the steel quenching (air, water, oil) and found out that oil works best for hardening it.
Knife Making: Forging bushcraft knife from a car spring

I used a section of a large car spring to make a small full tang bushcraft/whittling knife. Spring steel has high carbon and suites for knife making. The handle scales are made from old furniture wood. My neighbors are not OK with the noise I make :). Will have to think about that

I was brought an ice cutting machinery part, made of 3 mm thick stainless steel. I will use it to make a kitchen knife capable of cutting frozen products without fear of breaking it. music in this video: Music: Piledriver Musician: Jason Shaw URL: audionautix.com Music: Carnival Musician: SoundCarousel URL: pixabay.com/music/dance-carnival-10957/

Building a kiridashi style knife from an old car bearing (probably 52100 steel) using basic tools. The handle is made of ipe (aka Brazilian walnut) wood scraps. For me it is first time smithing, leather sewing and overall knife-making .
It's amazing what you can create using basic tools and a bit of knowledge. Nice job mate. Look forward to your next video.
Glad you enjoyed it, I promise to stick to basic tools (or my wife will kick me out :D )

Very useful knife and great cat appearance at 6:02 😂
Cool original design! Thanks for sharing
Cool my friend... Cool.
Nicely done. Could you kindly show how you shaped and sharpened the angled edges? tks
Basic angle bevel is done with a file. Then I cleaned and refined the bevel on the drill sanding attachment using grits 120, 400, 1000. The final sharpening was done on a diamond stone with grit 2000 and green polishing compound
Открывалка - дроч! Шо, нельзя через палец, как все нормальные мужики, открывать?

מדהים!!
Shalom Kostja klassnaja rabota prodoljai v tom je dyxe.
good job bro. Keep up the work!
Well done. Compared to my first efforts you are a master craftsman. One piece of advice--it is very difficult to forge well in sunlight. There's a reason that forges are rather shady spaces; the subdued light allows you to see the colour of the metal under heat. In a few months you will be very happy with your progress. Best wishes from Australia.
Thanks for the tip. The problem is that i can do the noisy work only in day hours to avoid "over" annoying my neighbours. Probably will end in moving the work to shadier part of the yard.
