Ölüdeniz is a resort village on the southwest coast of Turkey. It’s known for the blue lagoon of Ölüdeniz Tabiat Parkı and the wide, white Belcekız Beach. Overlooking the village is Babadağ mountain from where paragliders take to the skies. The Lycian Way is a long-distance marked footpath starting in Ölüdeniz, and has coastal views. To the south, Butterfly Valley is a nature reserve with a secluded bay.

  • @valenciaclark1

This is a very fair assessment. I've skied all over Europe, plus the US, Argentina and Chile. We went to Aspen and experienced the driest, lightest powder we've ever had in nearly 50 years of skiing. This year we're going to ski Utah for a week, then drive to Colorado and try out all the resorts around Vail. We bought the Epic pass back in May, and it's not massively more expensive than Europe (day passes are another matter). An added benefit is that you get 5 days in Andermatt, Switzerland thrown in. They get about 300" of snow during the season, and the Gemstock is a legendary mountain. You take two cable cars (trams) to 3000m, then you can ski all the way back to town (1400m) on black level gradients. The quantity of avalanche bags, ice picks, shovels and ropes worn by the skiers is testament to the amount of backcountry options.

I watched another UA-camr and when she compared the US to Europe. She pointed out that the US has something like 400 resorts while Europe has like 4000 resorts (numbers are just an example not the actual numbers) so the supply and demand causes the US prices to be higher. Not to mention that most of the resorts in the US are owned by like 3 major companies and they want to make as much money as possible.

So Europe resorts get less snow but have way more vertical. How do they manage that? The answer is SNOWMAKING! In North America we have snow guns, in Europe they have snow cannons! And lots of them, Dolomiti Superski has 4700! These systems are very impressive, without them the amount of skiing in Europe would be far less. The good thing is the resorts can open lots of pistes, the bad thing is the surface is HARD.

I live in Colorado, but I've skied a couple of times in Austria. The skiing itself in Europe wasn't as spectacular as I expected, but the vibe and culture is a lot different and very cool. And the views are awesome. Skiing in Colorado ranges from great to unbelievable. But....VERY expensive at the best places. I got a late start this year and didn't have a season pass, day passes are ridiculous. I paid $279 for the day at Vail last weekend, plus $30 to park. About the same at other premier resorts. Ouch

Europe is better for charm, access, hotels, lifts, lift connections, ability for lifts to resist bad weather, resort size, variety, apres ski, beer, socialising, number of runs, length of run, lift ticket price, atmosphere and US is better for snow over the course of a season.

It is not true that it is less snow in the Alps. In some seasons, it may be milder weather that causes the snow to decimate due to the Gulf Stream that drives in hot air. From America.... But the Alps are always snow-sure as soon as you reach a height of a few thousands of meters. There is no disadvantage to having to fly from the US to the Alps. It is a disadvantage to NOT live in Europe. There are more people skiing in Europe compared to the US. That is why a ticket costs less and therefore there are more people at the slopes. You can never get the culture, the cuisine, the views and the atmosphere anywhere else but in the Alps. The cross border skiing is unique. The slopes in the Alps are longer, steeper and far more advanced.I always take the car to the Alps in a few hours ... I like your video though..
