One important point is Wayne Grudem's systematic theology is reformed theology (Calvinism, Presbyterianism), but it is written in very clear terms that your average church member can understand, instead of heady PHD language others have. I still suggest it as the best first systematic theology one should read, I think, but a Baptist should keep in mind it does teach 5 point Calvinism. It also has extensive references at the end of every chapter, broken up by belief, so it lists multiple systematic theologies for Baptist doctrine with page references for those. For that reason and its' clear language I think it is a great book for every Christian to have. Written while sitting in a video meeting, so I apologize for terrible, repetitive statements, but my brain no work good when there's 10 people talking in my ears. 😅

I would posit that Gnosticism was one of Satan's early attempted (and debatedly successful) infiltrations of the church. Think about it, it teaches that Jehovah God is evil, everything we do on earth is meaningless, no matter how depraved, and teaches anything spiritual is good ("black magic and occult ritual is totally cool bro, trust me"). It pushes for the attainment of some hidden knowledge and makes the knowledge-bringer (hmm who's name means knowledge bringer??? Oh right, Lucifer!) as the good guy. It's really just Satanism trying to wear a Christian skin. Thanks be to Christ, who gave his sheep the Holy Spirit and logos, so we can see right through and be disgusted by what we find.
