    Hi Grace, thanks for sharing your vlog. I'm really interested in iOS app development for both mobile and desktop platforms, and I'm currently looking for beginner-level tutorials on UA-cam/Udemy/UCity. I have a course in mind already, which is the Angela Yu iOS development course. Since you're an iOS developer, could you please suggest and guide me on how to get started with iOS development?

      I knew Singapore was expensive. But the prices, especially the food, knocked my socks off. Asian food is still the best and cheapest and an Alaskan salmon or the right sausage from Germany, I really wouldn't care how much it costs. I remember only too well when I lived in Beijing and only ate Asian food and later found a German restaurant LOL that was really funny. Now you've made me thirsty for matcha too! (It's 3am here) I'm going to make myself some matcha milk LOL

      @grace_my 4 дні тому

      Konchiwa! I didn't know you're also learning Japanese! That's superrrrr! Is there a reason you started learning Japanese? Regarding the price, I think in Singapore, "eating out at the restaurant" or anything that involves "people" are expensive (tutor, service fee etc) 🥲 Ahahaha Asian food in Beijing must be great! But I was very surprised that you can find German food in Beijing?! In Singapore so far I only found 1 German restaurant and a small chicken schnitzel is USD$30 (is it cheap? expensive?) Hahahah for the monitor... so I decided to keep my Vision Pro and I don't need my monitor anymore :P I'm also redesigning my desk now because I got some budget from the new company for home office hehe!

    UPDATE on Sep 23 2024: I would like to correct what I mentioned regarding the promo code at 10:33: the promotion only applies to subscriptions, so if users choose a one-time payment package, the discount won’t apply. I'm sorry for my misunderstanding, but please still feel free to try Flexi Class! -- Hey guys thank you for watching this video, there are a few things I would like to clarify in this video: 1. I know my Japanese is not good, and my accent still got a lot of room for improvement. But I just wanted to say that the original materials provided by the platform is more like simple sentences and I'm not very interested in those stuff. I hope it doesn't sound too rude 😂 2. I mentioned my "frugal living" in the video. That means comparing to my roommate's lifestyle (aka eating out and delivery everyday, shopping on Amazon every other day, buy a new Apple product whenever he feels like lol). I know my lifestyle is not the most frugal one, but I do try my best to cook most of the time, try to walk to supermarket and bank instead of taking public transportation, and I use taxi or food delivery only, only, only when I needed. 3. I didn't want to spend this much on rent either. The reason I live at the central region being that we actually got discounts for this unit 3 years ago since the landlord is a friend (my portion was S$1300 only last time). However, due to various reasons, the rent just went up CRAZY… and I really want to move out after I finish the current contract… 4. I mentioned that I purchased a 300-class package in Flexi Class, but it looks like I only took 115 class until now. That's because each class costs differently in terms of credit. I purchased the package for "Vietnamese", which is 0.5 credit per class. Hence I got 150 credits in total from the package. However, in FlexiClass, you can take whatever language classes you like. So I switched between languages (especially those cost 1 credit or more) and that's why eventually I only took 115 classes so far in 2 years (still a lot, right?). Don't forget to check out FLEXI CLASSES with my code MUYU30, and let me know how it goes :) Thank you for watching the video, and I've announced before but here just let me share this again: due to the agreement I signed with my new employer, I will have to change my current content style, for videos like "day in the life" series, and I will potentially share more about what I do outside of real 9-5 work, and some travel or Singapore stuff. Curious about the B-CF, You're Taiwanese, but why is your Birth-CF is British? Please make sure to tell us the @ story.

    • @grace_my
      @grace_my 4 дні тому

      Hello! My Taiwanese parents studied their masters and PhDs in UK and then I was born there 😂 but we went back to Taiwan when I was 5 ish so I don't have UK passport 🥲 oh I completely forgot to mention the @ story, let me type it here and maybe I will include this again in my future video: So because I was born in UK, for some reason they register my alias as "Grace" on my passport and I also have my Chinese name there. When I first came to Singapore, the HR in my first company saw that there's "Grace" on the passport, and somehow instead of using appending Grace after my Chinese name, she used an "@" and applied visa for me. Since then @ has become part of my official name and some system will reject my logins if I didn't type @ in... The worse thing is that I applied for a bank account last time online. The system asked me to type official but the text field doesn't accept @. But they also rejected my application since I didn't type @ in the application and that is different from my "official name" on the visa 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • @san.d_
      @san.d_ 3 дні тому

      @@grace_my Interesting story. I was also wondering how the bank was able to put "@" in the place of the name/username from their side. It is really irritating. You must be facing/face plenty of issues because of that.

    I have some questions if you don't mind. 1) Is it easier for the Chinese to get PR? Im asking this since you said everyone is saying that you should try cuz ur Chinese. Idk if it's political related but still I think it's normal that they think Asians are OK since they are in Asia as well. 2) Do they evaluate Europeans or Americans in the same terms? And i must say that i really enjoy watching your videos especially you showing around. Thank you for the videos!

    • @grace_my
      @grace_my 24 дні тому

      Hello! I'm not sure if I answer them correctly but those are just my own experience (and what I heard before): 1. friends told me that Singapore has to maintain certain ratio in terms of races. So yes Chinese will be the most. However I did know some Chinese friends (from China or HK) did get rejected 1-2 times before. I think recently the competition is just really really difficult for PR... 2. From what I know (again, heard it from friends, not sure if that's true), the races will be Chinese, Malay, Indian, and others. So most likely all other minor races are considered as others. I'm not sure if they have different buckets for, let's say SEA or different Asian, or even Americans or Europeans, but I did hear from my American friend that, 10 years ago it was easy for them to apply for PR. While another British friends said they tried 3 times but still failed (they stayed here for 5+ years) I think the impact (how much you earn and how much you can contribute to Singapore) might matter? But again since SG PR is pretty much blackbox so I'm not sure what exact reason I got approved. But yeah Chinese does have higher chance to get approved since in Singapore majority is Chinese, Malay and Indian. Are you also applying for PR here? also thank you for the nice words regarding my videos!!!!

    • @lecherhao86
      @lecherhao86 21 день тому

      Just try to apply and you let the Immigration authority decide whether you are eligible for the PR. The application fee is not that much, so don't complain. Just keep on trying. But take note that application for citizenship is a completely different ball game. They will probably consider the potential of you contributing significantly and long term to our society. So if you buy a house, have a good job, married and will have kids, actively volunteering, pay taxes on time etc, I believe your chance to be a new citizen could be higher la. If I were the government, I want the new citizen to pledge loyalty to our nation, be able to integrated into our society, live out way of life, have plenty of Singaporean friends, produce more children and let the boys serve National Service. Haha😊. Actually, I would go a step further to make sure all new citizens serve National Service.

    How much income do you spend in travelling alone?

      Hello! I always fly cheap flight (either budget or layover) so flight is about 250USD from Singapore to Japan (two ways). I also only stay in small hotel so around 30-40USD range or less, I guess I travelled in relatively countryside so I can do this sort of trick🤔 Food and others in Japan are not that expensive too (as in Japanese yen is quite weak now). I hope that helps!
