Great video! I agree 💯. BUT my school does everything correct. The problem is the administration expects everything to be perfect. Thats fine but teachers throw each other under the bus inorder to look good for administration.

Appreciate your content! I will be starting a PhD in educational leadership focused on college and career readiness among young men, middle through high school, and some college. I'd like to explore an intersection between Edtech AI use and college and career readiness. Are there some episodes from your episode or from another podcast that would be an asset on my journey? Also, would you recommend any individuals working in this space as Edtech entrepreneurs? Appreciate your time.

If you’re teaching in a violent high school building and the halls are chaotic but the new hire teachers are being singled out as being no good at “discipline” then you need to get out of there. A dead giveaway is when the administrators who criticize classroom teachers cannot control large groups at assemblies in the auditorium. If the principal gets no respect in the auditorium then who tells him that he has no command presence? If the answer is “no one” then it’s time to find something else to do. Because sooner or later some sort of minor disaster will inevitably be blamed on you. But in any event you don’t want to get your ass kicked if you get caught in the middle of a violent scuffle somehow.

What a great conversation. Oliver Tingling is an amazing educator. Representation is everything for young students of color. He finds a way to be relatable but stern and encouraging. Kami is a great tool during tutoring sessions. It brings the classroom chalkboard to your devices and gives you the ability to keep a library for future reference. Mr T & Kami are a perfect match!

That’s nice and creative but too bad it’s strictly a team playing platform only. As for class dojo, students are getting points either individually or in a group. Class dojo stands out more because not all students are team players and some may deliberately do wrong to lose hearts, fall in battle and if their teammates can’t help them, the entire team loses health, which is unfair. Secondly, not all students like the characters. With class dojo, teachers can change characters to things that the students like such as cars and houses. When students reach a high amount of points, they can get an avatar change that’s unique from others. The higher they go, the better the avatars are and they are realistic as reminders that when they work hard in life, they can achieve those fancy and REAL things. With Class dojo, the points earned can be cashed in for benefits that students would really love, such as more time to play a game or do over an assignment they didn’t do well in, or even add real points to a graded assignment they have and put it in record. The main point is, those students who refuse to cooperate would aim to pull down the rest of his or her team on purpose. Classcraft is a good platform. It really is, but all it needs to do is have the option of carrying a team or staying as individuals.

I just read the article for teacher appreciation and how you shit all over your student for giving you a card and a bag full of love. In your opinion the kid shouldn’t have given you anything because the bag was empty. Really? Selfish.
