The shock here is that German industry was not as it appeared. In other words, significantly fake. The glory of German was its auto industry. With the crash of high margin sales in China, everything has fallen apart. BMW China sales -30%, but corporate profits down 61%! You can see the margins in China were enormous. If China levies a luxury tax on large, ICE vehicles, that would destroy BMW in China.

But most of those problems would exist even if the EU was dissolved. Look at the UK it left the EU and the same problems remained. It's more deep than the EU. The EU at least enable Europe to pretend that it has some political and economic power. Without the EU economic problems and social problems will remain. It's rather problem of welfare state ,model which is now struggling with lack of financial responsibility and demographic winter. The UK left the EU but retained its welfare state model. After the crisis in 2008 Europe didn't apply any cuts to welfare state but just introduced zero per cent interest rates so this destroyed long term health of economy. European model = overgrown welfare state+big beaurocracy and regulations+ cheap credit.+high taxes and social security

I have listened to this particularly podcast three times sofar and each time it becames more illuminating and informative. It connects the dots. When you rarely hear this kind of information in the media you fail to see the big picture and how insidious the influence of the United States really is in European affairs. The American professor Jeffrey Sachs constantly hints at this and yet the EU is heading into an ever closer political union that will become even easier to control by Washington.

What if the ECB were to have reigned supreme? If one central bank in Frankfurt issued the bonds, and allocated an allowance to the member state in reward for fiscal responsibility and economic output.
