My grandfather loved Dr Sullivan. He lived across the bridge in NJ. But sometimes he would come over on Sundays to visit Zion Baptist Church. He was a deacon in his home church, so he couldn't attend Zion every Sunday. However, as much as he could he would. He would say that big tall minister really preach today.

When the Graneys lived in Mount Hope I knew them well. Not much is said about their sisters Sharon and Sara, who I believe live in Charlottesville, Virginia. Pat Graney I & II were members and past presidents of the Mount Hope Lions Club. If I am not mistaken Pat's paternal grandmother, Thelma Snyder Graney, lived into her late 90s.

My name is Mary Lentz. I was a night auditor at Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston, West Virginia the night that Mr Sullivan and his gracious wife arrived in Charleston the night before the ceremonies of Leon Sullivan Way. He and his wife their flight had been delayed in Chicago due to bad weather and they had arrived at executive air at Yeager airport on a late flight. I drove our shuttle van up to the airport to pick up two passengers that had called for a ride down to the hotel. I will have to admit that I was raised poor and white in Central West Virginia and I had never heard of Mr Sullivan. But I treated him with respect that my parents had taught me to give any elder. When we arrived at the hotel it was after midnight and room service is shut down and so had the in-house restaurant. It's just Sullivan and his wife were telling me on the ride down but they had not eaten since lunch and Mr Sullivan and his wife were very hungry. As security took their luggage up to their room I took it upon myself to go inside of the restaurant to the sandwich station of which my husband Joseph worked at in the athletic club and I made the Sullivan's each one turkey and one ham sandwich grab them some potato chips and each a diet coke because they were both diabetic and I took it up to their room. When I knocked on their door they offered to pay me. I refused any tip or payment for the food. I told them this is something in any Christian would do and I told him to enjoy their meal and their breakfast would be served at 7:00 in the morning downstairs as part of their stay. And I wished them a good night and God Bless.😇 The next morning as I was getting ready to leave at the end of my shift, the general manager called me into his office. This is it I thought, I'm getting fired for going into the kitchen. Instead, the general manager was standing in his office with Mr Sullivan. Mr Sullivan, the general manager said , was there to give me his personal thanks. He said that I went above and beyond by feeding him and his wife last night. And once again I said it was my Christian duty. I said I couldn't let them go hungry knowing that there was food available. I said it would be like letting my grandparents go hungry and I couldn't do that. Mr Sullivan said this lady deserves a raise. The general manager said consider it done. And on my next paycheck I had received a raise of an additional $1.25 an hour. 💫👍 Now, little did I know Mr Sullivan had been keeping the mayor of Charleston, West Virginia waiting outside the hotel in a limousine while he was talking to me and my general manager. The Mayor, Mr Gardener, was waiting to take him on to the ceremonies for the renaming of Leon Sullivan Way. And I attended Charleston's O.I.C Program in 1984 when it was located on the west side on Virginia Street and got my certified nursing assistant certificate before going on to Tennessee to Vanderbilt University and receiving my LPN in 1984. Thank you, Mr Sullivan. May you rest in peace 🕊️

Worst place over ever had the displeasure of being forced to go to. Horrible staff who are no help, got back cramps from the giant brick they call a bed, couldn't eat the terrible food, and overall they just worsen your condition rather than help with it. Trust me, if anyone had a good time there, it was because of medication, not staff making you feel welcome. Fuck this place
