@cosmic_petal and also, i noticed that Oshino Meme last appearence was in Owarimonogatari 2nd season, Kaiki Deishuu's last appearance was in Hanamonogatari, and Yozuru Kagenui's last appearence was in the Monogatari off & monsters season, which is all of these season were the latest monogatari timeline in order (Owari 2nd season on march, Hanamonogatari on april, and Off & Monsters season were after Hanamonogatari timeline), wondering on the future season we'll got all of them in 1 frame

I also want to say thanks not just for engaging, but for reminding me about connections to older story details that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. In particular, I really appreciate that you brought up Hanekawa's eating habits, since I was able to find an excuse to talk about her this season. She's my favorite girl (in case it wasn't obvious) and I love having more reasons to think and talk about her. ^^ You're so right about how unique of a challenge it will be for them to collect the right stories to form such a cohesive thematic narrative as this for upcoming seasons. But given how much care they put into this series, I'm sure they will do their utmost to make it happen. XD Oh that reminds me, I want to take a closer look at the shorts that Nisioisin wrote just for this project (particularly for YOASOBI to help them with penning the ED) - one day, one day. Keke.

@@cosmic_petal yeah, same! To be honest, once I heard that you feel the same way I do about Ougi's male persona I knew I was gonna like your stuff. The engagement was mutually beneficial for sure. Sadly Im not much of a Gacha enjoyer so im a very niche subscriber of yours here, but Id be down to watch other analysis/discussion content you end up putting out, even if its not exclusively Monogatari. And now that I know that Hanekawa's your favourite character, Im also pretty curious to see you discussing her in depth.

@alexanderhenriquez9354 xD Gacha is a trap, don't get caught in it. It's more of an archive of stream highlights. But I started doing occasional analysis of the story content and making predictions because I'm a story/lore player. I'm glad that I did, though, because my chat encouraged me to also post the non-gacha analysis/commentary stuff, too! One of these days, I'd love to talk about Hanekawa! But I might end up just ranting and gushing about how much I love her. XD I actually have so many thoughts about why I think she's perfect and also the worst match up for Araragi, and it still pains me to this day that I have to acknowledge my personal choice for best girl would probably also be the worst. XD

@@cosmic_petal Ima be honest, for the longest time i held the opinion that Nekomonogatari Kuro was disposable, an ok drawn out version of something we already succintly saw in Bake. But then I sort of got into a discussion with someone on some UA-cam comment about some unadpted light novel, and something they said to me kind of blew my mind. And when I went back to see it with new eyes, my love for that arc and Hanekawa sky rocketed. But yeah, I agree, theyre poison for each other. Its such an interesting doomed prospect of a relationship though. Have you read Musubi?

@alexanderhenriquez9354 Shaft did a great job selecting and sewing together some of the best arcs to represent that theme! ^^ It primed me for all of these talking points. Deathtopia basically acting as a mom or demonstrating motherly affection definitely didn't go unmissed and ngl I felt bad for Kie basically being compared to her "older sister" the whole time. XD No wonder she lashes out at Araragi by the end of their conversation. Agreed on how the relationships in this show are so rich that they can't be reduced to one or two labels, the way real relationships can be complex sometimes. But isn't that what gives life its spice? And back to last week's point - that's why we have to approach each with sincerity, lest we poison ourselves. The mustard on Senjougahara's food would have been a nice touch! XD I think Araragi ended up being the mustard to everyone's life but perhaps he inherited that from the original mustard - Shinobu. I feel like Nisioisin really emphasized the point that Deathtopia's thralls were all blond in the novel - perhaps it was also meant to remind us that Shinobu is blonde, is yellow, is mustard. Kekeke.

@@cosmic_petal Yeah, wish I could convince 'phobes to watch it! I know there was a controversy in the Crunchyroll comments partially due to this anime and partially due to the out of focus anime. Now they have dissabled comment for all of their anime

@@kyoneko87 it's truly a shame that people won't give art a chance just because of personal prejudices against a community. especially when you can learn a lot from such art. I think this story could really help general society recognize the issues with our prescriptive gender norms. And twilight out of focus was just a gorgeous show! xD people should watch it for all the artsy smut scenes.

@alexanderhenriquez9354 xD Yep, the food has always been there for these videos. I wish I was that clever. Kekeke. I personally think Hanekawa is very "special" to this series, though I don't know if they're deliberately trying not to mention her until this point. Pretty sure "Cat" did come up on the screen when they listed all of the interesting oddity situations Araragi has come across in the background of ep 1 of this particular arc. But I don't think even in the novel did they mention her name until this point, so perhaps it isn't a Shaft decision. Could just be due to the lack of relevance until now, rather than some bigger meanings. But yeah, it does come off a little strange once you start thinking about it, considering how important she was to the main series as a whole and as one of Araragi's main foil. XD Or maybe we are reading too much into it. To be honest, I know I was probably very quick to incorporate her into this analysis partially due to my personal fondness for her. XD But if I'm not going to read too much into everything and tie it all back to my favorite things, what's even the point? Kekeke.

@alexanderhenriquez9354 okay thanks. I got seriously confused about episode numbers somewhere along the way and I'm not sure what happened still. XD but that aside, I'm happy if we get more. I feel like the latter part of the story should not be rushed. And yes~ I always hope to find connecting threads between the different parts of the stories they choose to emphasize, especially in an adaptation. It helps to focus the story. And you're totally right in the last paragraph. I think that's why good foreshadowing is so essential to a good twist.

When I said that I hadnt even considered how big of a paralell with Hanekawa Deathtopia's eating habits turned out to be. Like I vaguely remembered it, but episode 11 really put it into perspective. Glad to have helped!

​@@captainhydra2146 Going to take this as a serious comment, though there's probably a chance that you're just mocking me, but I don't really understand what you stand to gain from that and I hardly ever pass on a good discussion if the topic is interesting enough. So let's discuss! Araragi's lolicon- coding is definitely intentional. And I think that even though it's often played for laughs, there's a deliberate uncomfortable tension that we're meant to feel while reading and watching. The anime takes it further with his siscon tendencies, such as in the infamous toothbrush scene with Karen. I've seen a lot of theories on this - from those who say not to take it seriously because the tropes are common in anime, those who claim it's deliberate as an attempt to make the audience despise Araragi (the story is told in his POV, after all, and he does not value himself at all through most of the main series), those who claim it's deliberate but for the art, and those who are completely turned away from the series because it trivializes the problem with irl pedos. (I don't blame them.) I have a feeling it's a certain combination of those takes. As I said, I do think it's intentional, but the reason for that could be multitude. I do think some things are played up for laughs, Araragi does also tend to take a very biased stance on most things and expresses a high level of self-loathing throughout the main season, but I also feel like the writer is challenging us to look past what's uncomfortable to have meaningful discussions over the bigger themes of his story. It's certainly a hurdle I think most readers and viewers have to get past. But was it worth it? Most definitely.

@@cosmic_petal man, I know you gave a serious response to this imo clear mocking comment and I respect your patience, but personally, I really cant take seriously anything coming from someone sarcastically reframing what someone else said as a "gotcha!" moment to try and derail the conversation. As someone who considers the lolicon aspects of the show as just something of this series that you have to accept, even chuckle against your wishes at, even if you rather the story indulge in the myriad other comedy bits it has on its disposal that dont really so constantly call attention to this, I do really respect your take and find it an interesting read on this trait. I just wish this opinion wasnt rudely wrestled out of you in such a random way.

Love your take on the alternate reading, and I totally agree. I tried to stick to only what was in this episode, but I actually wanted to title a later video "Shinobu Mustard" (maybe when that particular reading becomes more evident) because the original translation I read to prep for this arc used that alternate translation and I really liked their reasoning for that, too. XD I think the difference in atmosphere that you're sensing is probably coming from the detective mystery nature of Monster Season. Ougi Formula and Sodachi Riddle are two of my favorite stories in the Owarimonogatari arc, so I really like that vibe. Murder mysteries in particular are a favorite genre of mine, so I'm glad to be seeing a young detective Araragi at work! Oh, I totally forgot about the roleplay memory! XD Senjougahara in a lab coat "experimenting" on Araragi would have actually been another great way to showcase his degeneracy.

@alexanderhenriquez9354 Yeah, I agree. That's why I usually try to remove my bias as a reader and give my take from that perspective, too, as best as I can. I do appreciate the adaptation for what it is, and I thought it was really interesting how you can probably watch these three episodes (I'm counting the special) as their own standalone story.

It would've been great if they also got Kei Haneoka to chime in on the music talk considering how important he was to the latter part of Monogatari's music and that he was in charge of the music this two-parter arc and even before then the cruel fairytail princess beauty episode had music by Yuria Miyazono that was "inspired by Kei Haneoka", But anyways, still super excited for it!
