Hi Dylan. Always like to watch your reviews and of course, your Offtrack Podcasts. I've got one of these firepits (different brand) and found that despite the base plate which you would think, stops killing the vegetation (i.e. grass) underneath it when the firepit is in full swing, I found that it actually doesn't. The plate must heat up (radiation) sufficiently enough for it to kill the (green) grass it's in contact with on the ground much like a hotplate would. I have however, since purchased a couple of items from Drifta Stockton which forms a 'cross' (two pieces of mild steel plate slotted together) which the base plate then sits on thereby forming a decent insulating air gap between the base plate and the ground. I found that it works an absolute treat allowing the firepit to be used anywhere without the risk of scorching the ground and killing the grass. Just a tip I thought I'd include here for the benefit of the other punters 👍
Plenty of these from different companies getting around, nothing new. Cheaper elsewhere and all coming out of China. Sorry to sound a bit negitive.
I bought the kings version for under $100 (still at $98 on sale) and it has been great while we have travelled Aus for the last 12 months
Hey mate, thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate you watching 🙂 I noticed the cast iron part on the kings is not much thiker then an A4 piece of paper, yet the one is the version I have is chunky as all hell. I'm just guessing but I reckon that would help keep the heat in coals? Also looks like the stainless steel is all thinner. I'm normally all for saving some money and buy kings stuff, but I reckon I'd spend the extra $15 after my discount code. But just my opinion 😂🤣
The same as every other chinese knockoff fire pit of this design , originally stolen from Snow Peak, If you want the real quality Japanese made, you buy Snow Peak , not these generic chinese branded firepits
Holly shit!! $475 you have to be joking? How much is a person's salary in Japan!! It doesn't even has the cast iron peice for the coals to sit on so the fire wouldn't breath properly. Sorry mate I'm not seeing why that one is so much more money 🤨 I'm thinking there is a fair bit of profit in that unit.
@@Off.Track4x4 So you dont understand R/D yes its expencive its also real stainless steel and you realise that the cast iron block is to circomvent I/P ....What really gets me is you people who shill these products to people saying the best or some garbage , its far from it ..these are the same crap mass produced in china with a brand stamped on it , this is no better than kings or any other "brand" claiming the best firepit , its the design they stole
These types of folding fire pits are worth every cent, the one you are reviewing is a bargain. The great thing about this design of fire pit, is that they are off the ground and with the ash tray, are perfect for those camping areas who do not campers having ground fires.
Very well said!!! 👏 Nothing worse then not being able to camp with a fire in winters, these units fix that hey. Thank you for watching and commenting legend 🙏 🙌
Jump on this, I have another brand that starts with D and it is so handy. Other products fit in them such as the Biji barby and the Aus braai flip grills and frame. That is a great price!
Thank you for watching and commenting legend. Really appreciate the information about the Biji and Aus Braai fitting, Really handy for people to know 😀
If you don't like the cast iron insert, you can buy the stainless steel charcoal mesh from Drifta Stockton. It was intentionally made to replace the cast iron plate for existing firepits. Also cuts down weight. About $24
Wow tank you for the handy info 😄 I wonder if the mesh would make the charcoals burn through faster? Lloyd had a fully mesh fire pit, was super light weight but man the fires hurt through wood quickly!! Way to much air flow. But as you said super convenient for weight saving.... tough choice 😬
have you tested that the rcd switch works in the van with a proper tester not just the push button test on the rcd as most inverter style power are not earthed and do not trip if ther is a fault
Hello Ian, unfortunately I can't test it as the safety switch trips on the adapter at 10amps, so can't get 16amps through to the van. Good idea though any thoughts on another way to test it? With out breaking the allpowes unit hahahah I use this every time it rains
Good review its and excellent tent iv owned the 10th anniversary modle which i believe is the first release of this tent and its easy 10 years old probably older and its still in great condition bar a rat chewing into the bag in the shed putting a few holes in it and yeah iv busted one zipper grip on the bag other than that its mint only upgrading now due to the dark tech got the same in my zero 23 roof top and its really good especially when your hung over af 🤣🤟
Hahahahaha for a hang over I bet the darkroom is a life saver. Cheers for watching and the positive feedback back legend 🙌 👌
Would you call 17 problems on a less than 12 month caravan a refund replacement 😂
It all depends on each problem. There is also a section about bad workmanship. You maybe be able to claim under that.
On my explore life bin bag the Big zipper pocket fills up with water on mine , I have it on a 35 inch wheel and I’m forever tightening the strap up and lifting the bin bag off the road , doesn’t sit up high and as covered in the video always moves forward 👎
Thank you for your comment legend, Lloyd had the same experience, Matt did refund him in full though.
Looks fabo!
Thanks legend I love it
I have of of these on the driver side and the swags go under it.
Just a great cheap add on hey. Thanks for commenting and supporting the channel legend 🙌 😀
I've seen a few of these over the years when I've had to park up and plug in with an ensuite. They are sturdy in gusts of up to 40Km/h when they are pegged down with two guy ropes off each leg, according to my first hand views. They do pool with rain which will strain the fabric over time. One solution is to procure two expandable poles and stick a T-shirt/hand towel on the upper end to provide a 'spreader bar' of sorts. With the case of the reviewed item, GSM is not important - Denier is. Denier is a unit of measurement for the linear mass density of textile fibers. It refers to the weight in grams of 9,000 meters of fiber. The term comes from the Latin word denarius, which was an ancient Roman coin, fun fact. Denier is more 'waterproof' than GSM, weight for weight; that said heavier GSM is very waterproof but comes with a weight penalty. I if lived in or visited Hervey Bay, I'd want a concrete roof, because you guys have had about a metre of rain in December. Thanks mate, well done. Beginners need economical camping options. Stu
Hey mate thanks for watching and commenting again. I forgot to say if you peg them down they Handel the wind really well. Mines been through 1 mini cyclone 🌀 I think it's was 80km/h winds. Then whe video I filmed at double Island where 60km/h winds come up. As long as it's secure it's not going anywhere 💯 The ones that you saw pool with water, did they have them leaning down? We are lucky because it's on the 70 it all ways is pointed down so the water just runs off. If you have a smaller car it's probably the opposite. Thanks for the great point as all ways. And year we are ether drout or flooding up here, it's nuts.
Great video, & I agree with the Anderson plugs. I run my fridge, & travel Buddy off Anderson plugs. I love your technical videos as they are easy to understand.
Hello Stephen, Thank you for watching and commenting legend. I'm glad I could help that's all I'm trying to do. Give some none BS advice 🙂
Are you lot for real? As the saying goes… ‘all the gear…..’
Hahahahah 😂 I hardly think I fit into that category. Brain farts do happen with manual locking the hubs. Especially when you were not anticipating going into 4wd.
Great unit 😃
Thanks legends 😀 Hope you guys had a fantastic holiday period hey 👌
I would love to see another test that you do on the bench. Plus can you plug a travel buddy into it plus a 12 volt fridge. Plus can you run them both at the same time.
Hello Stephen, thanks for the comment and watching legend 😀 What do you mean another test on the bench? You definitely can run both the travel buddy and fridge. Each 12v outlet is rated to 10 amps. Travel buddy uses 9.37Amps at start up, fridge is between 3-5amps. So this unit could handle them no problem.
When you do the full in-depth test on the table in front of your shed. Like your other battery tests you do. Thank you
Thanks mate, a good explainer. I have a similar unit which runs Starlink, laptop and secondary big screen. At the same time, I recharge the power bank with a 100W or 500W solar blanket, sometimes both on a cloudy day. Lithiums like to be used but don't like to be exercised at full charge for long periods. I try to not use shore power but will plug in if needed then switched off when full. It's also my emergency backup when my 900Ah of Lithium and 1.2KW of rooftop solar don't go well over a prolonged period when off-grid, that's happened only once in 12 months. Eventually I had to break out my genset (nobody around) and logged 11.50 hours over two days to recharge the Lithiums. Hope that is useful. Stu
I would be shocked at your set up. But knowing you work out of your van you would need that power. Hey question how do you go using both solar blankets at the same time? I tried today and failed. I've since learnt that MPPTS I'll only accept 1 voltage coming in and they will all ways only accept the lower voltage.
@@Off.Track4x4 Remember, I work under my awning, which is why I haven't been to your hip camp so far with, what, 500mm of rain over the past month? Two blankets won't work with a direct connection to smart batteries, that kills batteries given the over-voltage. I have one rear Anderson connection, direct to battery for real emergency use, via the DC-DC charger - it's complex but not complicated, not recommended, and another story for another day. To make two blankets of different wattage, work together, the MPPT controller needs to be slightly and differently (two adverbs in a row) wired up with the DC-DC Controller. As an experiment, with the right 'funny/unfamiliar' connections (yellow tipped, two sizes), run your two solar panels to the power bank, using Andersons and the 'funny/unfamiliar' connection to the power bank connector. You'll find that that will work - you can disconnect one solar Anderson connection and see the wattage drop, plug it back in and you'll see the input Wattage rise. The two very unfamiliar 'phone jack' ports ... research will assist. When the rain goes away, I'll drop down to HB Regards, Stu PS - no one is gonna beat me on content or number of comments.
The timing of this couldn’t have been better- been holding off not wanting to spend so much- thanks for the heads up and discount code 👌
Hahahah 😂 December/ January i reckon are the two most expensive months of the year. I normally do all my shopping this time a year save big, then try to not buy much goodies through out the year. Thank you for watching and commenting legend 😁
@@Off.Track4x4 definitely, I need to strike while the iron is hot- because the Mrs has the rest of the year sewn up with her online shopping addiction 😉😂
We have purchased and are waiting for delivery once they get them back in stock. Thanks for your testing and info, we decided on this instead of big bucks for brand name
Hello Rebecca, honestly you will not be disappointed this things are amazing and the price is mental!! Let me know how you go when you get it 😁 Cheers for watching and commenting 👍 👌
They work pretty good only complaint is when you’re pumping in solar ( 440w 38v folding Springers panel which produces 470w’s at times ) the unit cuts out when using the 240 sockets whatever you’re drawing when it hits full from solar ! You have to pull out solar turn back on unit and draw down the power and then reconnect the solar to charge again , If unit doesn’t hit full from solar it will happily keep charging and powering shit lol 😂 Just saying other than that the units are fantastic.we use 2400w kettle , toaster, air fryer , electric pans and charge anything else you can think of high use items singular and all else multiples
6 months ownership and use most days and nights then recharge with that 440w panel in a few hours to go again or use and top back up for night use
Hey Paul thank you for tour honest feedback back. What unit do you have? I don't think that happened with my S2000pro. Glad to hear other then that you love it. I cant fault any of the 3 models I've used. I love this big boy the most through! Air-conditioning in a caravan when ever I want it.....yes please 😁
@@Off.Track4x4 the unit you have there the R2500 I have ran it to empty a few times no problem either to recharge , they power up very quick with solar and plug in charger working together . Your air conditioner will happily run on just fan recirculating the cool air you just made with F-all power use as well ( ya think the air-con is on still lol mind games )
Thanks for the videos!!!
Thank you for watching and commenting 👍 🙏 😁
Nice to hear you wife's honest review
This was back when I pushed her to be infront of the camera 🤣😂 She won't do it any more sadly. Thanks for the comment 👍 😀
Well... I literally just got home set mine up and its so bad, thanks for making the video so I know it's nothing I'm doing. I'll be requesting a refund. Down right embarrassing at this price point
I can't believe they still out there!! The new Hardkorr awning should be dropping this week! I'll be looking at one of them. Or seeing what Beach 2 Bush comes out with
@Off.Track4x4 I was able to get a refund but pretty shocking they didn't recall them... I'm just gonna give a cheapie kings 180 freestanding a go until the big guys get their shit together 😂 can't be worse than this!
But does it come even close to the 160watts or more like 70-80watts because I have a Kings 250watt portable and I don’t even get close to 250watts I only get maybe 130-150 maximum and takes forever to charge batteries. Dual 100Ah Lithiums and with 6 hours in the sun it made maybe 21% charge to the battery from 66% to 87% charged
Hey mate, This panel puts out about 130-140W so it's pretty good for the money. My kings blanket kicks ass. But apparently they are hit and miss. Thank you for watching and commenting mate. 😁
@ I have a RTT and the foldable is ok but I need a faster charge so looking at a 300watt dual or single so I can spend more time off grid if I want too
Thank you. Now I want your opinion and what do you recommend. Should I buy( bushwakka 270 or darche 270 )
Hey hey, Unfortunately after filming this the bushwakka had a few big issues. The backing track that holds the awning onto the brackets stretched and a bolt pulled out. Awning was replaced as very dangerous. Now the exposed metal feet have rubbed through the canvas and made several holes. My recommendation is neither.... hold off this week hardkorr should be releasing their new awning, or beach 2 bush has one coming aswell. Both companies owned and ran by real 4wders, so products normally hit the mark 😁
@Off.Track4x4 Thank you
Just wondering on the super cheap auto it says it a Renogy Rover Li 20A MMPT 4 Stage Solar Charge Controller What’s the MMPT for is it different to a MPPT or am I looking at the wrong one on the website
I wondered if anyone would pick up on that 🤣😂 This is why I said the wrong price, Ash got my figures for me and the MMPT didn't show up so she gave the price of the cheaper unit. It's just a typo by their Web design team. I was ment to let the marketing team know but I forgot 😅
Thats not rust on copper pipe its corrosion . If the solder flux residues aren't removed, it will cause corrosion. flux residues are acidic and if they aren't cleaned properly, the residues will lead to the corrosion from moisture in the air. Clean off corrosion with water and repaint or silicon spray for protection
Probably same problem with printed circuit boards in thermostat .
What do you do for a job? That's some great knowledge 👌 Should it happen on its own? Or bad design?
Great video! I've got a 2012 turbo Sedition Foz with the auto trans and a little lift - it LOVES SAND 😅
I was so gobsmacked at how well it went. Good on you for using yours as well
Merry Christmas 🎉
Support both my channels! Thank you so much guys 😁🙏
Wouldn’t the sag have a lot to do with where the mounting location is on the car? Are the mounting locations closer to the ends on the wagon?
Na because the two closest panels are super tight, about to rip and the middle pannle just sags. Darchee told me the fabric was stitched in the wrong place
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year🎄
Really appreciate it, thank you for watching 😁
always love how the misso reacts. not sure how she puts up with you mate lol merry xmas and see ya next year
Hahahah 😂 you would think I'd learn by now shoving a camera in her face never works. I guess I'm a slow learner 😅
@@Off.Track4x4 haha keeps the love alive lol
Ive had 1 of my engel fridges shit a thermostat. Its happens. Ive been running the crx80 in my canopy for 7 years been around aus up cape gibb etc. Never a drama. I do like the new layout in these but
Was a terrific fridge up until this happened. A few people have commented it happens aloy sadly. Still don't know what else to get. Think Engal 🤔
Wish I saw this earlier, received mine and hooked it up yesterday. Unfortunately I have the same issue and am in extremely rural NSW where returning is going to be an absolute nightmare.
Who did you buy it from?
Hi! Thanks for your video. I'd love to go snorkelling at Gold Coast. Any chance you could be a bit more detailed about where abouts you were at the Gold Coast Seaway in this video? I am a beginner too so want to start in some calm waters with no dangerous current. Thanks!
Shit this is an old episode hahahah If you head up to the sea way there is now all ladders to get you in and out. Not a bad spot to start out.
Awesome. Have an old MDC-90 and it is horrible. Super power hungry and does not cool in hot weather. Going to exchange it eith the NRX Model
Be careful with this model, suggest you watch my updated video before making a decision. I'm going to try out the Engal m.ua-cam.com/video/G3HJh2-VSnw/v-deo.html
My dream tent.
Worth the money for sure!
Thanks
Thanks so much mate! This is actually my first super like on this channel 😁
@ Keep up the good honest reviews….👍
Does it have a low temp charging disconnect? It was getting down to 3 degrees, you said. There's plenty of places that get sub 0 weather in Australia. I can't seem to find anything on the net about it.
Hey mate, unfortunately I'm not at home so don't have the instruction booklet. Looking at their website id say the new range definitely has cold and hot temperature discount. Just get one of them if your worried 😁 I'll never be anywhere near zero so doesn't concern me.
EAsun,Anern,POWMR and many others offer the same chinese device for ~24$ so renogy want 140$ for it....a shame this sort of scam. the devices pretty good but for the right prize.
Hey Thomas, I took at look at the brands you mentioned, none of their models sold in Australia look anything like this device? From you statement I was expecting to find the exact same unit just with a different logo. ANERN looks like they get the same products as adventure kings, but year sorry I can't seem to find anything the same. Thank you for your feed back and commenting though.
Another review for a supercheap product
Yep last one for now. I will run through the install. Then do some follow up videos to let everyone know how they are going. But that will be next year sometime. Unfortunately I couldn't put them all together or the review would have been 30mins long. But I say good on Supercheap, trying new things for them. I have to say they are amazing to work with. Zero rules around the review. Just asked me to test them out and say what I thought.
They work well. I've had one for a while and am very happy with its performance. I have the temp sensor and the remote blue tooth reader which is an absolute time saver. I use it with a 250 watt solar blanket and consistently make 10 amps which covers my set up easily. Good product, make sure you get the blue tooth remote reader.
Well you answered my question before I asked it! Okay I'll order one on Supercheaps website. I'm a big fan of Bluetooth hey. Thanks for the comment legend 👍
@@Off.Track4x4 I installed my unit close to the aux battery (close is good) which is under a bed in our set up. No more lifting the mattress to see how the solar is performing with the blue tooth app! Merry Christmas.
if you looking for a bluetooth app device then take a victron charger it cost ~70$ so a full high quality charger for the prize of a BT dongle , renogy is pure scam.
@@ThomasNowicki-m5s I got mine as a special from Kickass and it was the cheapest I could find at about $120. I haven't seen any others that look the same - except maybe the King's one but I've been there, done that with King's gear. I don't see what the scam is for a quality product that works.
80%...Mtae..stop posting bullshit trying to be a youtube hero...
Thanks for helping the algorithm hero 😁 Really appreciate the support 🙏
@Renogysolar has some pretty decent gear! We’ve been running their 60amp DCDC charger in the back of the Fourby for about a year now and it’s been so good 👌🏽
Hey mate, thanks for watching. Fair few people seem to be running their gear now. Can't wait to test it out.
VOC for solar?
Hey mate 95VDC Stay tuned for the install video and testing.
How long did you run the A/C on the R2500.
I doubt it will run for long and not over heat and drain fast.
Hey mate, It was in-between rain so was just a test to see if it could handle start up. Should get 3-4 hours with no solar input. If you hooked up atleast 700w of solar then wouldn't drain the unit. I'm testing out the unit tomorrow running a house hahah 😆
These units definitely don't have overheating issues have massive fans built inside. I've had mine sitting in the sun while charging in 35 degrees no drams.
Mate, to do a honest review you should really hook the unit up as it's being sold, which is a DC to DC with MPPT controller, this way you can evaluate how it does or does not handle the dual connection, if it doesn't do what you think the marketing information is saying it does then you can report this to your viewers as a negative. IMO there is no point doing a review on a dual input unit if you are hooking up a separate mppt because this is not how the unit is being marketed, you will get a different end result, then you may recommend the unit and it won't work the way you mentioned because you had a separate MPPT to handle the solar input. Also check the temperature of the cabling, my ones got very hot because Renogy always supply bare minimum rated cables on all their product, curious if they have upgraded them (my units are 6 months old) , because they hard wire the connections you cannot upgrade it, like any electrical wiring, as the wires heat up their efficiency drops. Example of typical Renogy cable underspec: I installed a Renogy 3000W inverter (actually very good inverter for the price) they supply two x 100A rated positive and two x 100A negative cables, problem is if you pull 3000W the current is actually 250A !!, yet they only supply 200A of cable. I tested these cables, and even at only 200A load the supplied cables get very hot to touch, so would have most likely melted at 250A, they were the cheap PVC coated Aluminium wires and not the better quality Silicon Aluminium or better still copper wires, if the wires get too hot it just melts the PVC, ie: PVC melting point 100C to 260C, Silicon 537C to 1414C so a big difference. Renogy should have supplied three negative and three positive cables, needless to say I ditched the supplied cables and put some suitably sized Silicon cables that don't even get warm at 3000W,. I'm not trying to bash on Renogy, they do make some nice products, but they also make some products not fit for purpose, or skimp on important parts like cable sizes, I can recommend the 40A DC to DC with the additional bluetooth, as it just works, (would be good if the had a 60A version), then put on a separate mppt and it will do exactly what you need it to do at a good price.
Hey mate, you normally give such good information and comment. But I'm assuming you didn't actually watch this review? This is not the dual input model I mentioned that 3 times. Also mention on Thursday they will be going in the van. This is purely just a spec and first impressions review. I think you can agree there is a lot that can be told from a products based off its specs. That's how we decide if we should buy it or not.
@@Off.Track4x4 Yes Mate, I did watch the video, and have first hand experience with this unit, I was so disappointed with them, I removed them from both vehicles (good waste of nearly $1000), I will be watching your results also to see if you come across the same issues I did and why I removed them which is they run too bloody hot, don't output 50A for longer than 5-10 minutes, and perform poorly with the solar input due to poorly implemented mppt design. To clarify; are you saying the Supercheap unit is different to the one you buy from Renogy direct and it's a single input only ? if so then you have misread something, this device is a dual input device this is what the mppt part of the unit is, a single input unit does not have the mppt circuits and can't accept solar input, these are just called DC to DC charger, they take alternator input only and output regulated DC. The dual input is stated on Supercheap website, and also on the documentation you can download from supercheap website, this unit take's Solar up to 50V (which is much better than most other products and why I chose this unit) and alternator input of 9-32V (which again is why I chose it because one system I have is 24V battery,) it then regulates the output to 50A or 720W based on it's internal logic. The only difference to the one Renogy sell direct on their website and ebay outlet for the same price or cheaper is the supercheap unit has Andersons fitted rather than bare wires, this will be done locally by supercheap, that's what the exclusive part is, it's just the Anderson plugs. Also they are definitely not a NEW device as your title suggests, I purchased these on the 19th of December 2023, directly from Renogy when they were first released, they are sold all around the world. Anyway, I'm not having a go at you as I think your channel is good, but you have dropped the ball with this product if you're going to test it by using a separate mppt because it defies why you would buy this product, you are paying a premium of $499 because it has mppt built in, You're better off buying the 60A Renogy DC to DC charger for $259 and a Victron 50A mppt for $199 and still come out cheaper than this unit for far better / reliable performance.
Mate be very careful where you install this unit because it runs Effing HOT, after about 30 minutes of charging you cannot touch the outside casing because it's too bloody hot, I measured it's temp and it was running at 78C, too damn hot IMO not only will this shorten the life of the charger it's dangerous if something touches this unit that's sensitive to high temps,. Also the 50A will only last for about 5 minutes then it will max out at 38A to 40A, you won't see 50A again until it's completely cold, I have even tried force cooling it and it made no difference, it's s con, it's can only reliably deliver 40A not 50A if you really want to use Renogy DC, ditch this one and get the 40A SKU: RBC40D1U-AU for $189 and add the bluetooth dongle to it, it does everything this one will do except MPPT then get a proper MPPT by Victron, you can get these from $90 for 100V/20A to $199 for 100V/50A Victron MPPT crap on this Renogy unit plus it's cheaper. I have ditched these Renogy units for the Victron stuff now in my own mobile applications, the MPPT circuit in this one is poorly designed, by having separate DC and MPPT you can feed both to the battery at the same time increasing your charging capacity, the ONLY thing this unit has going for it is it can work on a 12V or 24V system, other than that it's a floored design, they went for compactness and sacrificed cooling / efficiency. You will see what I mean after you install it, If you try to charge a fairly depleted 200A or in your case a 400A setup, pack some eggs because you can literally cook them on top of the unit, I'm not joking, if you can demonstrate this in your review video of it would be funny, it needs to be in use for about 30 minutes.
Hey mate, thanks for all the information. I'll make sure I check the temperature 🌡 If this one does the same thing it will be coming out. My hardkorr DCDC which is smaller design doesn't get hot at all. Here's hoping yours was just faulty 😬
@@Off.Track4x4 Let us know, I had two of them in different vehicles, they both did the same 😂😂, below is the official response from Renogy Support, when I questioned them about hot hot it was, it appears they are quite happy with it running up to 80C !!!!!!!, not in my vehicles it ain't, 80C is too dangerous for a device to be running at in a closed canopy. Response: Using the DC HOME App, check the internal temperature of the charger. If it exceeds 176°F (80°C), disconnect the charger and assess the temperature at its location, ensuring proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
