Pine Creek Logging
Приєднався 22 жов 2012
Started piece cutting with a borrowed chainsaw and chaps. Worked my ass off to buy my own equipment twelve years later. This channel is a glimpse into my day to day life as a logger in Michigan's Upper Peninsula .
Pine sale this spring. 3 weeks flew by here. Thanks, Taylor, I stole your video.

Who doesn’t cut alloys with a processor? That’s what it’s for…here in Northern Michigan everyone does…
Right? Works pretty well, eh? Some southern clowns talking shit. Their ignorance blows by mind.
@calspaugh8078 but I will say the saw does have its place. I did run on an all sawyer crew for a few years in old Goodman timber. We shit out the logs, but the timber was huge.
One question. Are th limbs and brush left as is or are they processed?
Merchandise the straight pieces in top down to 3" for pulp. Ends up looking pretty tidy when we are done. To the left is cut.
That is so cool to see.
Hab ich schon schneller gesehen ,oder Zeitlupe?😅😊
Maybe some of both. I was going slow because hard maple is really heavy and the tree might pull out of head otherwise.
What became of r2-d2, after his acting days were through...
Super awesome
Pine Creek Logging, cool video you deserve more views
Thanks. I guess I just enjoy making videos. If it was about the views, I would have given up a long time ago.

Nice
Show yourself planting trees and I'll give you a nice comment.
@dadanny187 some of the cuts in the video will be replanted. One site was bought by an established gravel pit next door, and the selling family (was there almost 100 years) wanted the timber they grew to be brought to market before the sale. Most of the timber I harvest is on SFI certified and every other certified corporate land. They manage the timber, and I harvest the timber. When I do bring a private sale to the market and it makes sense to replant , I do. This spring, I spent a day throwing in 1500 trees I paid for on two different sales I did the year prior. Planted 10s of thousands in my early 20s when my time was less valuable. Just don't feel the need to show those parts and pat myself on the back.
Helping the deoxygenation of the planet, nice... Hope you're proud that you're inevitably killing the planet.
Near luce county maybe?
Iron County. Cable lake rd north of Amasa
Song "the trees" would be more suitable
FernGully never stood a chance.
@IdleByte it was a poorly planted plantation 30 something years old. Pretty far from natural. But if FernGully had big timber, I'd smacked that down too.
Maybe Rush’s “Trees”?
Maybe all I know is most people wouldn't of liked what I was listening to in my cab while I filmed. Kanye West graduation cd. Stronger on repeat all day. 😂
No thinning for future harvest or management just clear cut
@budl4656 lol. What if it's s clear cut to replant plantation because it missed its thinning cycle and was poorly planted?
Pretty dumb. You have the ability to level things out.
@pita0069 What part of the harvester would you use to move boulders? Beat up the knives or round up the feed rollers? You sound pretty dumb talking out your ass. My machine is for harvesting timber. That is all. If the owner of the forwarder thinks he could move them, then I'm sure he would.
I know fuck all about forestry or heavy machinery but i have to say you operate that beauty with finesse, It looks almost anatomical the way the arm engages the trees. You are awesome at you job.
Fern Gully
@maxsanchez4256 if that's another way of saying trash timber. I agree. Lol. Not sure what you mean by that.
Great channel. Thanks
Guy in the scorpion is looking good
I tried to get you in frame as much as I could. Always looks so far away in video.
Im an owner opertaor in the UP to...work 12 hours a day and still sit and watch these videos at night. Somwthing about the satisfaction of a clear cut.
@JordanCarlson-m3u seems to be all I do lately. Glad you like the the videos. I'm in UP too. Cutting in middle of amasa grade now.
The real kick in the nuts is that they put all this chessy ass electrical shit on our heavy equipment to start with! The electrical gremlins drive me up a wall!!
Seems like something a DVOM and a few minutes of testing could have saved a bunch of time.
@davidmore190 could have. But loss of connection was intermittent. Seemed to only happen when jarred.
Those brown and white wires are real good at not staying where they belong 😡
@ponsseguy now, at least I know what to look for the next time.
Keep the super glue around for the cuts
Dam looks like a bunch of trash! That sucks.
Toothpicks
Yeah it's pretty shitty. Think I have 11 acres of it to get through.
Dint know why but Could watch hours of this. 🤟🏻
Welcome to come for a ride. Working on side of m95 by sawyer lake in channing.
🤣🤣
It's obvious that most commenters aren't harvester operators...
Right? Or understand the sarcasm.
Dude probably goes online and complains about gas prices
Who me? I drive a little truck. Never really concerned about how much diesel I burn either.
It's because they don't let anyone now adays that's not certified to to cut down any type of tree even if it's a small thing one. Would positively make your job more time consuming and give the land owners firewood
Ironwood excellent firewood or long lasting fenceposts!!
You could always just leave them.
Harvest all marked timber means harvest all marked timber.
@@pinecreeklogginglol
If you’re in it for the long haul and trying to improve that wood lot then you wouldn’t complain about a few ironwood trees. By the looks of it the your doing a selective harvest and removing a lot of the junk wood anyway. I know it sucks but in the long run it’ll potentially make you more money the next time you’re in that wood lot.
My thoughts exactly. Everyone’s only looking at their short term gains.
I'm all for land improvement the whole nine. This is corporate ground. Most of our sites are unmarked. This one is marked. I normally slash most ironwood. I have slashed hundreds more than he had painted on this site. That's why I just don't get the point of just marking two.
Thats the promise is the long haul. But in what other industry do you roll up with over 1.5 million in equipment( our whole crew, 1 new harvester, my harvester, sub forwarder and dozer) to work for free now for promise of future?
@@pinecreeklogging farming. I do it every day.
Cant argue with you on farming. Only difference is you know you get to harvest your crop so you dont mind weeding. In 10-12 years when someone goes through this again chances are it won't be me. It isn't just a few either its thousands. In the clear cut last week, I had to do between 700-1000 stems a day to get 120-160 cubic meters. That's shit. That's not counting all the trees i cut that weren't merchantable. A man can only cut so much for free before he loses money.
What about side to side? The crane sits farther ahead on the ergo, so that would change your length of reach.
Didn't check the side. Just the front reach. We both knew the ergo would be longer but was surprising how much more. Guessing to the side it's probably similar.
Thats what happens when America doesn't make parts anymore.
Check the holes on the frame where the wheels bolt on. Maybe the holes are a little worn and the bolts fit a little loosely. Won't stay tight and same problem keeps happening eventually
Go to the closest racing parts store and get high end wheel studs it will cure it
Sorry to hear that. I know they make a hydraulic loctite. The only problem with that is you will have to use the old heat wrench to get them out. You could buy safety wire drilled bolts and safety wire them together so the physically can't back out. Either way I hope you get it figured out!! Much success!!
Try brand new bolts and brand new Nordlok washers
That's what is back on there now. Hopefully, they will hold this time.
Use some red loctite. It will certainly help.
The time before this I had them red loctited. Instead of loosening up, bolts ended up snapping.
It’s always something ant it? About the time you think you’re making headway, BAM! FUBAR!
What’s the boom power on giant compared to C5?
C5 has more power but that new h8 is a hell of a head. Having a hard time holding onto these bigger oaks with the 7.
@@pinecreekloggingI’ve got an H8 C5 now. We are thinking about getting a giant and the salesman was saying they’re comparable (or giant has more) so I’m guessing it’s not then?
@kopitzke55 I don't think so and the owners of the giant don't think so either. But it's pretty close. Probably depends on how you like to harvest timber. Two totally different crane styles.
As long as they’re close I can’t complain. I knew it wouldn’t have more, but didn’t want to lose any crane power. Heard there was an update on the active speed for the H8 in the states and it made it crazy better than what it was.
Pulp!!!!
Wasn't much before that. Big seam from crotch down.
Not much fsster than a saw
Next time you have that thought. Film yourself falling a tree. Bet it takes longer then 50 seconds. And after that one tree there is 100 acres of trees left. How long is it going to take a saw to do that? Spent 12 years lugging a saw around piece cutting to buy a harvester. Pretty sure harvester is faster.
I love these videos but hate the black music. Pathetic
Guess you can mute the video or listen to what you want to it your harvester, if you have one. 🤔 Pathetic. I like what I like. No apologies here.😊
