How about a cane sword?
How long will Eva Foam swords usually last before they Rot?
Nice
1:23
And if I don’t have a dremmel?
Got a material and tool list?
So the basic materials I used are: EVA Foam Wood dowel Wood glue Contact cement Faux leather Acrylic paint Tools: Knife Dremel Sandpaper Paintbrushes This should cover the basics
Love it. Just curious as to why you decided to make the entire thing one piece rather than selerating the hilt as an individual piece?
Thanks bro, im making a gabriel cosplay and i needed this for his two swords that are really detailed
Please start making videos again. Your video quality is too high for you to stay out of the game.
Thank you so much, that means the world to me. I know it's been 2 years since I released a video, but good news - I'm currently editing a full tutorial about building my Wolverine Cosplay
12:40 Dude accidentaly did the roblox sword
I’m considering making a sword like this for a LARP battle in ZA in September, it looks sturdy enough to handle lightly smacking into armoured peeps, but how well does it handle thrusts?
@@heilmodrhinnheimski ah another South African, great to have you here. For larping with combat I would suggest using pvc as opposed to wood dowel cause wood can break easily and splinter. Also make sure there is lots of padding if it's going bt used for combat. Check out Odin Makes UA-cam channel for some great videos on making Larp combat offer swords. Best of luck
@@JaxCosplay thank you so much for the recommendations and yeah, if I can I’d rather try to find fibreglass for the core, pvc can also be quite dangerous
Please, template
@@uamadjid3196 in the description
Love bulge legs❤❤
What else could be used to prime it?
You can try spray primer or plastic coating sprays like PlastiDip
Going to a con in less than a week and needed a fast tutorial for a sword, this was perfect, thank you!
Glad I could help
Went to download the template and it's itty bitty, all on one page. Am I missing something?
It's one page that you print as poster/actual size in Adobe reader. This will print it over multiple pages that you can tape together
I would screen print that logo on the shirt
what size paper did you use to print the template?
Multiple A4s stuck together after printing
Idk if this makes sense but how did you print it across multiple pieces of paper? I appreciate your replies!@@JaxCosplay
No worries, here to help. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat and in the print settings, I chose poster@@maryellenpetersen8140
cool
Is it OK for light play with my friends?
Where can I find the molds?
The templates are in the description
@@JaxCosplayI don’t see the templates in the description
@@ajeremyc1 My apologies, it seems the link got removed, I'll have to reupload them
@@ajeremyc1 Ok I have uploaded the gears and boots templates. For the wrist accessories they are just rectangles and I believe I give the dimensions in the video. Hope this helps 💪
sure glad you can see the cut lines.....
I cut my gears too small, and i dont have spare foam what should i do?
I'm not sure, you could try use heat to bend them open and make them a bit bigger
Can i use hot glue instead of contact adhesive? I e checked and it wont melt my foam..?
Yeah hot glue will work
Can you fight with these swords??? Like is it sturdy enough to like swing around and shit???
You can swing it, but it will probably get damaged if you hit anything too hard. Could be ok for kids to fight with
It kind of resembles that sword from roblox
For contact adhesive will it be okay if i just work ourside?
Working outside will definitely be helpful
I dont have a dremel. What else could i use?
You could try using sandpaper by hand, it just may take some time
You should put material and tool list in the description.
Can you build a pic saber with different lights
I'll try do one in the future
IM YOUR 900th sub!
Thank you so much
❤
Do I print the template out from a regular printer or does it have to be a specific printer?
You can print with a regular printer, just use the poster setting in Adobe Acrobat
@@JaxCosplay ok thank you
It worked. thank you so much for this.
Good luck with your project
What would be an alternative for the drill and the sothering iron?
thanks a lot for making those videos!
Glad you found them helpful
Спасибо большое! ❤
What metallic paint did you use? It's SUPER nice and opaque
I used a brand called Dala but I think it's only available in South Africa.
Thanks so much for making this! I'm going to be cosplaying as kirishima to support a friend. I am biologically female and my friend is male and will be cosplaying a female for the first time. so I am cosplaying as the most manly character I can think of as support. I much prefer making my cosplays to buying them. Since I think it boosts creativity and just looks better. Once again, thanks for making this.
You're welcome. Goodluck with your cosplays and have fun 😊😊
Really cool you're supporting your friend
What would you use if your broke and don't have a dermal / electric sanding tool?
Try get some regular sand paper sheets and glue them to a piece of scrap wood to make an improv sanding block. It will require some more elbow grease but you should still get a pretty decent result. Hope this helps
This may be a stupid question but what is the stick called that you put in the center of the sword
Dowel stick
What paint are you using?
I use acrylic craft paints
I like your style, Jax. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks so much, glad you like it. How the video was helpful 😁
Wow, this looks like shiet Congratulations, u achieved failure
I have looked at a number of videos regarding making foam axes and the majority attach the head to the handle by inserting some form of metal rod inside the foam whereas you insert the handle inside the axe head. I am a newbie first timer and wanted your opinion as which method of attaching the head to a wood axe handle would be easier.
I think both methods would work. The method I used worked pretty well and it's still holding together a few years later. I think for a wooden handle, you could make a hole in the foam axe head and insert the handle and glue in place. Hope this helps. 😁👍
Very very helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much for having the template free for downloading! Saved me SO much time having to measure and then re measure everything
Cool no worries. You may need to make some adjustments as not everyone's shoulders are the same 😁
I found your video very informative and creative I’m interested in making a sword myself I was curious what length dowel rod and pvc pipe you used?
I can't remember the actual lengths. I just measured them against the template to see what size was right.
No worries appreciate the reply
