Leonard's Skipper, Hesperia leonardus, is one of Wisconsin's coolest skippers. This butterfly hangs out on Liatris spp. in August and early September. The caterpillars overwinter in their first stage, devouring grasses like Little Blue Stem. Shrinking habitats means this butterfly needs our protection.
