So much better
prefer your remix.
Dude the top gun cannons sound like an lmg from low budget Playstation 2 shooters. Kinds sounds like rapid fire marshmallow poppers
Anyone who tells you the actual weapons sound less menacing than the dumb gun sounds in 'Maverick' is an idiot. ua-cam.com/video/ej6EcXwy10o/v-deo.htmlsi=gOEtzA_tVlsBM5ga
Love the realistic version
I personally think the BRRRRT from an A10 Warthog is way scarier than individual rounds
I think realistically the sounds make sense because its a *Iranian* F-14 or some nation thats close with Russia speaking they have SU-57s however it seems like the original M61 Vulcan could have been replaced with a 30mm GSH-30-1 that is of Russian origin which is not a Gatling gun like western jets but is a single barreled somewhat slower firing weapon which would make sense why they could switch it out but also the ammunition count seems lower and the amount of ammunition dispensed per burst is also lower which seems like its along with a GSH-30-1 however its whatever you may think
You know how cats gets all jazzed up when they hear a can opener? Well now we know, don't we guys?
typical movie watchers are used to hearing the sounds of _handheld_ guns. They have no idea how cool/scary real aircraft cannons sound lmao it's a real shame
Could you do a video pointing how stupid some movies are with sounds just working for the stroy insted of realism? Like ever since I saw The Civil War movie, it has bugged me that the pickup truck just appeared out of nowhere on a gravel road in the scene they were about to get shot by the MAGA military dudes.
Your sounds sounded much better, also noticed this in the cinema and it felt like a old Soviet heavy machine gun.. But the mobie was so awesome it didn't matter
I would preffer the more realistic approach. I mean, this is a film with many practical effects, so why not adhere to the reality...
the rip of an aircraft gun is both satisfying and terrifying
I was an M61 vulcan mechanic, and I think you should go higher on the rate of fire. It shoots 6000 rpm on air to air mode and 4000 rpm on air to ground mode. Otherwise you did a much better job than the movie prod.
In the Quartz clip, not just gun sounds are changed. Also F-14 cockpit sounds are realistic and better. Problem of "standard" Hollywood machine gun sound is it's more like stitching machine, than gun :D.
I prefer the realistic sound. Imo, the realistic sound is more intimidating and has higher impact.
Who would listen to that brrr and not find it intimidating? The only adjustment necessary (if ever a director will use the actual sound) I think should be the volume of the cannon. Make it loud as hell and the audience will sh*t their pants.
I bet that GIs who nicknamed the MG42 "Hitler's Chainsaw" had a very different opinion about how terrifying a continuous stream of roaring-droning shots sounds. The public can easily understand how a barrage or hail of bullets at 100/sec is intimidating. IMO the producers and sound designers play safe, too safe, even though anyone can understand what true danger sounds like. Imagine a half a mile long chainsaw. Only have to establish that to the public via a short scene or a character explaining how powerful rotating 20mm guns are. Would take 30 seconds in a movie like TG Maverick. Missed opportunity.
Having been present for CIWS firing essentially the same canon, I think it sounds even more continuous than your upgrade over the original. Just one long BWAAAAH like a trumpet from hell.
The realistic one sounds like pure destruction and immanent death - preferred by me definitely
I live close to a firing range where newly manufactured Vulcan guns are tested…you can hear the BrrrraaaaAAAAAPPPP from many miles away and on the opposite side of a mountain range. I once had some tourists ask me, “What is that foghorn we keep hearing?”
The actual cannon sounds more terrifying. Yes I have heard the real thing... And understand what damage is caused by the real thing... And that might influence a person's cinnection
As a old Ace Combat player, i prefer the real sound.
In my experience I laughed hearing A-10’s in real life in Afghanistan. Sounds legit like a fart, from a distance..but then you hear it closer and its hell on earth. The rasp and something in mid to low range frequencies is hard to describe. Either way, great effort I think your SFX are better than the movie!
Actor Valour SWCC boats………. Now that is gun "sound"
The exclusivity and sheer suprise from the BRRRRRRRRTTT would be an immensly scarring and traumatizing experience for anyone in the cross hairs
Hearing obviously fake sounds has ALWAYS annoyed the hell out of me. Machine guns always sound the same. I say leave the original sounds in.
ok reality. if they put the real noise in the movie, 100 million ppl would have said wtf was that loud fart noise and the scene would have been lost.
Brrrrt --- Hollywood
Huge fan of the more realistic sounds (and weapon effects) across the board. 🥳
Sounds like M3 brownings…coming from an M16A1
nice one. much prefer the real ripper sound of the actual gun.
The average audience would not but I FUCKING DO
I think your version does a better job of conveying the force that a fighter jet canon projects. The original sounds (to me) very close to an AK-47 firing on full auto, while yours still conveys the wall of lead that the F-14 is putting out there.
There are also getling guns in movies that fire 500-600 rpm. And that is common in all games. They do not even know how many bullets that thing can spit.
Yea learned this the hard way when I was a kid. Parents didnt understand what jets were doing in like generation kill. My father told me "jet engines dont sound like that"
I think the realistic one is just far more intimidating and sounds much better
Yor Sound is amazing. I like it much better than the original. Great job dude.
as a a sound designer myself, this is very cool and intresting keep making more videos
The realistic sound is much scarier. To hear bullets being so fired that you can't individualize them is terrifying. You are going up against something that can fire a hundred rounds into you within the speed of a blink of an eye. The classic crunchy gunshots sound nice, but they do not compare in terms of intimidation.
Damn you killed it! It sound so much better
Your version sounds better IMO
Go with realism, every time. Youll never be wrong.
The real sound of the cannon does sound a lot better then what was used in the movie.
I like your approach better. The original is just cliché.
With Tom Cruise being an actual pilot, I fail to see why he (being the director of his movie) didn't incorporate the chainsaw sound of rotary cannons. Seriously, they're TERRIFYING and he has no real excuse.
I was unimmersed by those cannon sounds. They are cannons, not machine guns. It sounds like double deckers from WW1 firing. However whole movie is what I refer to as popcorn movies. Fun if you want action but I don't take them seriously from the beginning. It's like the John Wick movies. They are so unnecessarily over the top that they aren't fun as a movie. edit for spelling
Why does the f-14 sound like a m240 😢😢😢😢
"Horses are more realistic than cows." "The ocean looks fake, so we CGI'd it." "We'll fix it in post!" BROOOOTHER
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
