Local 89 fired my wife after 24 years of service, over a 3x3 sticky note according to the paper work
The "he man woman haters club"
That's what the labor department is 4 plus you don't have to pay them😂
Sounds gay
So what ur saying is the union is all politics if someone doesn’t like you or likes someone else over you because they are friends you don’t get moved up
Exactly like politics and corporate governance… it’s a club that protects its interests. Fighting fire with fire, so to speak. I see nothing wrong with picking a side & standing with it.
Insulators like most things don't last forever. Weather, sun, and time win. They begin to breakdown and lose their ability to Insulate.
My brother was a cop .....I said "no way "....I was a power lineman for 38yrs...my brother said " no way "
I'm not touching that I'd rather go to jail! Jail is really normal now there's lots of normal people
what a great video
They won't let you climb anymore than a fence these days.
Those pesky safety rules, keeping us safe from danger!
The video narration is actually insane
Non-union is not that bad most places, you are not just a number like you are in the union
Vote for union loving democrats! 💙💙💙

I think the same narrator made “shake hands with danger”.
very cool. now im getting jeallous
Awesome old video!
Hah! it's funny in the part where he gets his journeyman's card and he says; "It means there's a whole lot of work you're not gonna have to do") that a plumber is in there!
Thank you 🏳️🌈❤️
Im a german electrician and have no idea how this video went on my front page
Hopefully this year I can get my cdl permit and go to my local line college and make my cdl and sign the books. Ever since I was a kid this is what I wanted to do. I have a huge collection of power line tools and equipment and poles that I climb in my yard. I can’t any wait to get paid doing what I love!
Wouldn’t recommend line school .just get your CDL and sign the books ,and come on as a ground man then join their apprenticeship.
Not in the business, but this is still great. Should introduce the trades to all high school kids with videos like this.
0:50 Has a belt to go around the pole. . . not using it. What is he going to do when he gets to the top?
he's going to belt around the pole when he gets to the work...
@@deopressoliber5984 I am imagining him holding on by 1 hand while he swings the belt around the pole and tries to snap in.
@@SeaScoutDan yes that’s exactly how it’s done when you free climb . Old practice though. Not OSHA approved for wood pole climbing now.
I was thinking the same thing. I learned how to gaff up in the Navy Seabees.
free climb it's the best way osha ang bucksqueeze suck old lineman is a reel man the lineman now is fucking gay
Juneteenth is not emancipation Day
:50 he's not using the climbing/safety belt.
they used to free climb back in the day . Just how it was.
Damn you guys got some balls. Electricity is one thing, thosd heights are another.
In some ways, life was better back then. And also in some ways, life is better now.
What a great video, proud to be a MFJL
GO IBEW!! WORK UNION!! STAY SAFE!! LIVE TO TEACH BY EXAMPLE!!
Wow
Inspiring
This is a comment that you are reading
Golly, I love these old videos.
Lol what a greater time. When an apprentice could afford to actually have a home and family.
Did he say he got in at 40? So he’s 43?!?? 😦
Love this old stuff
Comment for the algorithm
Me too
Unless this supports unions. I'm a VET and can't stand union workers. Unions breed laziness. You will pay your hard earned money for union dues to watch a useless steward do everything they can to not work, and you will notice they always protect the useless workers that shouldn't have a job in the first place.
We can only hope to be as great as those who came before us. Hopefully I soon walk in their shoes and have the opportunity carry on their ethic.
Where have you applied at? IBEW or nothing just remember that
@@freethinkingamerican80 absolutely brother, I’ve applied to both locals in my state. Just got my CDL, figure I either go union or I don’t go at all!
With your ethic and motivation to do so, I'm certain you'll make it far in the field! #IBEW #UnionStrong
@@EmersonPUSA thank you, I appreciate that tons.

I was a young , I remember the miners on strike and the big rally’s . I remember the moss 3 coal tipple take over.

BULL-LONEY about "no one looking over your shoulder" . There IS no such job. True, there is no.one physically right there looking directly over your shoulder but you can bet your bottom dollar that there's a full schedule of work that must be performed every day completely..........or else, somebody's butt somewhere WILL ROLL.
I wish we could go back to wearing flannels on the right of way. Killer look.
Other than falls, what are the dangers to this work considering the cables aren’t energized?
I have a friend who is in an apprenticeship program like this one. Huge balls. Question: Why do insulators need to be replaced? I mean, there are no moving parts . . .
Overtime they fail. If they fail then the electricity can energize the structure and will cause a dead short. 1 it’s dangerous and 2 the power stops working.
Makes sense. Thanks. @@mrwashur1991
Then there are those of us who get a nose bleed if we stand on a kitchen chair.
Heros.....
