Hi Kevin. I just started private lending with a capital company. As an individual investor lending money to a lending company, can I set it up as a business? They give me a promissory note and a mortgage deed. Thanks in advance. Keep doing the interviews. I appreciate it. Aloha! Jay.
Highlights I took away: - Early 2000's huge deal flow via non-profit asset purchases HUD program (maybe it will come back?!) - Discipline, don't chase borrowers; don't make loans just to keep the lights on. - Only $2MM in defaults/losses on $8BN of originations (incredible) - Back test the credit facility from your existing loan book to ensure the facility works (wish I had done this). - Use assessments like Culture Index and Wunderlich to ensure fit for a position. - A new manager will be interviewed by everyone (to avoid toxic person; hire for culture). - Core value: "the obsession is the borrower" (kinda funny he had to look them up)
