The end portion of this video unfortunately wasn't recorded. I do apologize for this and part II will sort of show what I did. Most of it was just shaping the body itself. If you have any questions please comment below. I Thought it'd be fun to try something different from the norm. This project won't be identical to the character but maybe a distance family memeber lol. SUBSCRIBE LINK - ua-cam...

Good idea. Looks nice. May have to try
Thanks, yeah it went better than I expected 😂
What kinda wood I should use?
99% of mine is basswood. Personally I just go on Amazon and get an assortment pack. I prefer to carve the 1x1x6 size. Hope this helps!!
Nice practice
Thanks for the comment Tom! Much appreciated, hope you have a great weekend!!
Thanks for sharing. Simple but arms will be something new for me to try. I hope your finger is okay 😎
Thanks the figure is doing well 😂. Yeah if I was doing it again I would have maybe stop cut the bottom of the hands. Buuut that’s why it was practice on a scrap piece lol. Have a great day Patricia!
Thanks just got back from the stick store and have a bagful. Thanks.
lol awesome, hope you get some great projects out of them! Thanks for leaving a comment! 👍
They are awfully cute. Do you put on a protective spray finish when you're done painting?
These stay inside so I do not. They’ve held up doing it this way for many years. You could always do a clear coat but not necessarily if you plan to keep them inside. Thanks for the comment!!!
Thank you for sharing
No problem I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!! Happy Halloween!🎃
I always sharpened sticks whenever mom took me to the nearby forest, now I can also make little mushrooms. Thank you for this video.
No problem, I appreciate the comment! Yeah they are fun and quick to make. Have a great night!!
Thanks!
No problem, thank you for the comment!
Thx for this video m8 ;) you have other easy to carve models please? I will make this on the beach soon when i am on vacation when wife is enjoying the sun and i am under the umbrella ;)
I appreciate the comment! The owl one is a good one to do. I have a small army of them at this point 😆. I do have other beginner type carvings on the channel but will always be looking to add more for sure. Enjoy your vacation when you take it!
Very nice tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to make it!
No problem! I want to pass along the stuff I know or do to help others starting out. I appreciate the comment, enjoy your day! 👍👍👍
I’m just starting my carving journey. I’m currently on vacation with my wife and kids and I just carved this same design on the beach today..Thanks for the video got a new sub.
Sounds like a great vacation! I appreciate the sub and comment. Have a great rest of your vacation and hope you continue on your carving journey. 👍👍
@@whittlingwoods21I tried to start carving years ago and didn’t hang with it, but I wish I would have. I definitely enjoy it and this time around I’ve been trying to carve a least a little bit every day.
@@ThatPainterGuyKy Sorry for the delayed response, UA-cam doesn't alert always for comments lol. I'm with you on carving a little bit a day. I started like that and I slowly moved toward small projects that I could tackle in a short period. Those 2" by 2" carvings still a multiple day projects though lol.
I have used an acrylic varnish and linseed oil before, love them both but I'll need to try some different finishes for different styles at some point! Nice video!
I appreciate the comment! Yeah linseed oil has been on my list for a while now. Enjoy your Sunday!! 👍👍👍
@@whittlingwoods21 Thanks, you too!
I love a good ghost carving 😍😅
Thank you, yeah it's an easy fun Halloween carving for sure. I appreciate the comment!!
Thanks, I am looking for something like this to do. Best wishes to you and your family.
Happy the video could help out. I appreciate the comment and best wishes to you and yours as well! 👍👍
crayola paint pens £20 perfect for this
I bet, I'll need to get some for the future projects. Nice tip and thanks for leaving a comment!!
This looks like the Brian's fox tutorial from Carving is Fun?
Yes sir it is. I did mention it in the video but he also commented on this video as well. 👍👍👍
Very nice ..Looks good ..Thank you for sharing your talent
Thanks for the comment, it's much appreciated! Hope you have a great New Year's! 🎊

Me: looks familiar but I can’t quite remember “Idea is from carving is fun” Me: OH YEAHHH Edit: also good carving!
lol yeah I don't want to take credit for his ideas, I appreciate the comment!
@@whittlingwoods21 Awww heck, don't care. You did a good job!
I appreciate it! Needs some fine tuning but it'll get there lol. Enjoy your day!
Well done sir 👌👍
Thank you I appreciate the comment! Enjoyed the holiday!
Yeah, number 2, I use egg carton, melted wax, and wood chips for camping starter fule.
Nice! Great idea as well. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Not sure if you’re aware of this or its just me but I was trying to find one of your videos a few days ago, searching UA-cam for your channel name does not work. It only returns results for whittling woods channel.
Not trying to be negative. I enjoy your videos, just thought you’d want to know.
Thanks for letting me know I'll have to look into that. I did a quick search and you are correct. Wonder if it does that due to the channel being smaller or not. Either way I'll see if there's anything on my end I can solve. I appreciate the comment and hope you have a great weekend! 👍👍👍
I did another search and seemed to find my channel eventually down the long list lol. My guess is the channel is small but you would think if typing the exact name it should pop up sooner.
That's a fun little quick carve you can do anywhere, Thanks!
No problem I appreciate the comment! Happy Halloween! Halloween 🎃
thaaaaat so cute an creative and cuuute I love it :D
Thank you I appreciate the comment! Hope you have a great day! 👍👍
Excellent tutorial on the 4 cuts thank you!
Anytime! I appreciate the comment and view, have a great day!
Thanks for the detail As I am a beginner, so it was very helpful. Great job😎
Happy the video helped you out. I appreciate the view and comment! Enjoy your weekend Patricia! 👍👍
Great video of a fun carve. Thanks.
Happy you liked it! Thanks for the comment and have a great weekend!
Really enjoyed this. Please keep them coming 👏💪
Thank you I appreciate the comment! Hope you have a great weekend! 👍👍👍
Would be a great Halloween project. Thanks!
I appreciate the view and comment. Definitely would be great for Halloween! 👻 🎃
Thank you for a very Nice video. Best regards from Denmark !
Thank you for the comment! I appreciate the view and hope you have a great day!
Novel and looks like a quick fun build. Thanks for showing the method.
No problem Eric, I appreciate your comment and view! 👍👍
Good job! I would recommend in the future painting the light colors first (except the dots). It's easier to cover light paint than dark. Also good song pick.
I appreciate the comment and view! I've actually mentioned that painting tip in previous videos and have yet to take my own advice 😂. Enjoy your weekend!!
@@whittlingwoods21 well I'm the same, do as I say not as I do lol.
@@yoshi425 lol exactly
The first carving knife I owned was the BC detail. A great budget friendly starter knife.
For sure, it's hard to beat!
This owl cost me two bad cuts one on each thumb ( note to self buy some gloves 🧤 idiot)
Yeah they have saved me a few times lol. Hope you heal quick! 👍👍
Of all the stuff I carve people seem to like the gnomes the best. ?? Great video of a fun project. Thanks!
Yeah they seem to be popular lol. I appreciate you watching the video and leaving a comment thanks! Have a great weekend! 👍👍👍
Are you sure that's a gnome 🤣
I'm 67% positive that it is lol.
I first carved one of these when the video first came out, I've started to carve more recently. The first one came out looking ok, the second one looked like someone put it through a grinder.😂 Thank you for taking the time to show us beginners how to do this
Lol I hear ya on the grinder part. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!! 👍👍
I've had my beaver craft knife for 3 year's and I've had no problem's with mine . ❤️
Great to hear! I'm liking it so far, no complaints. Thanks for commenting! 👍👍
Thanks for the video. Good job! What is nice about it is that a person can make something like that with just a regular pocket knife.
For sure and easily done while hanging out around a campsite or what not. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! 👍👍
Beavercraft is a low rated carving knife ..I was given some to review on my channel ....They are not bad for beginners ..but long term the steel probably wont hold up...Thank you my friend for sharing your knowledge and talent and keep those videos up....Thank you
Appreciate it Gene! Yeah figured long term it's most likely junk. It'll be fun to use for a minute at least lol. Have a great day!
@@whittlingwoods21 Not really junk ..but not a long term carving knife ..Thank you my friend
I always love the Band-Aids
I agree it was a surprise seeing them 😂
I have that knife and with a little know how and some elbow grease you can turn it from a so-so knife into a very good knife. Use your coarse stone to grind that bevel off to a flat grind. That also thins the blade. Then work through your finer grit stones to finish, then polish and remove the micro bur on a strop. You''ll be amazed at how much better it glides through the wood. Like a different knife.
Great tip!!!
Good 👍
Thank you I appreciate the comment!!
It’s all getting used to something but, I can’t imagine carving with that Mora. Good for you ! 👍
Lol it's all I know. Once I get something better I'm sure I won't look back 😅
Great video, I’ve just started getting into this, thanks
Sweet hope you enjoy the hobby. Thanks for leaving a comment and enjoy your day!
Great tutorial! Thanks.
Anytime! Appreciate the comment and view! 👍👍👍
Anything other than owls ? I never thought of using my Mora for caricatures, good for you.
What do you usually whittle with yours?
