Such a beautiful converstaion. Thank you for sharing. This builds up an interest toward the podcast (?). Be well, everybody.
it's great. i recommend it
ua-cam.com/video/M3JybfnsB2M/v-deo.html The perfect, heart-wrenching version of this gem...
I think Liz Harris is a musical genius
people are repressed and art triggers novel feelings especially artists like elliott smith
nobody broke your heart, if you’re alone it must be you who wants to be apart! phil voices how i feel about elliotts music so well, like the thing he says about X-ray vision on the world and people, so true
Your music is so incredible. I've never been so rewarded by having to not actively listen to appreciate something as much as this before. challenging but so rewarding. Thank you Liz.
two titans
Both Phil and Elliott are longterm, all-time favs, and yet I've never noticed any connection or influence. Wild to hear this and realise it now.
Elliott smith is great. His acoustic live solo stuff is the best to me. His studio stuff is too jumbled and filled for me.
peak on peak?
My favorite ES song is Twilight
I live in Portland and anytime I make a trip to the H-Mart on SE Belmont, I make a point to pass by Elliott's house where he recorded Roman Candle. I think the house is owned by James Mercer from The Shins now.
The house is marked with an obscure, spraypainted plaque with that I Heart Metal t-shirt graphic
Wait where is it? Like SE 34th and Belmont?
I am a big fan of The Microphones-Mount Eerie-Phil Elverum and Elliott Smith. This is incredible, I always supposed that there is a connection between the music of Phil and Elliott.
Yes the connection is called alex g
I covered I didn’t understand last night .. love this song love Phil and Eric’s trip and this whole lil circle of rock/indie music
Very 10cc “Not in Love” if we’re breaking it down thematically and production-wise. Jon brion prolly dove at the chance to mellotron Elliott’s voice.
charlie kirk lookin ass
"Not sad whatsoever" seems like a denial. I understand not wanting sad-sack stereotypes but saying not whatsoever is not right, not half right Lol. But to each their own...
Great interview, also check out "ELLIOTT SMITH - I Didn't Understand (live on 2 METER SESSIONS) 1998" ua-cam.com/video/M3JybfnsB2M/v-deo.html

It's also most likely a Beach Boys reference. It sounds like "Our Prayer".
That song is amazing. I wish Brian didn't fry his brains and voice. He was Tchaikovsky level talent.
@@mrfake675 honestly, similar to Elliott, they were probably cooked by their childhood and it was only a manner of time. I'm glad we got what we did. Crazy that Brian is still alive.
it gives me big surfs up vibes
Yes, and I think Lennon's "Because" which of course he covered
This is a truly beautiful song (I didn't understand*). One of my favorites. After all these years, I still repeat in my head, like a couple times a week, "My feelings never change a bit, I always feel like shit, I don't know why I guess that I just do". lol I don't know why, it just sounds so good and is relatable I guess. Straight forward, simple really, and relatable, but also really beautiful.
Spectacular. Thank you.
I cannot for the life of me remember why I'm subscribed to you but keep it up bro ❤
Sounds kinda like a Bowling For Soup song tbh
The classic school bus driver who's a muso story. I dig.
We love you Liz ❤️
cant find song "Blackout" :(
Any idea why this isn’t on Apple Music anymore ? If it was on at all. I can’t remember ha
Watt talks ALOT!! ALL THE TIME! He gets excited over cheese whiz! God Bless him!!
Just heard poison tree on tiktok and fell down a grouper rabbit hole. What are the chances she mentions new zealand pop lol. Shoutouts liz harris
Brilliant I've been listening to this for sometime I love the start to its lovely
Top notch. Ethereal special gig.
Idk that his interrupting is really that bad here. Maybe a little coarse but not rude or dominating or unpleasant. Possibly ending conversation chains early and not giving her enough control over the direction of conversation, but not much more than a radio presenter or whatever
Grouper: The nose-candy radio DJ interview
Liz likely chose to interview with this man because of his hapless, headlong nature. He interrupts a lot, but he feels like he has a heart of gold. I think this perspective might temper a lot of the criticism I am reading.
He's an excellent dude, with an incredible guest. This is fantatic.
Seems like she's just another guest to him. Sucks, cause she never has interviews.
Yes, this should've been a two-hour interview about the fine details of each album and what influenced them.
he talked over her so much... it was annoying... i wish we could have heard her speak more🙃
1:02 ends the noise part i love this song but cant stand the beginning
I couldnt figure out all of them but 8:00 poison tree 12:40 she loves me that way 19:29 wind return The rest just sounds like her album “dream lost” thrown in a blender
She gets interrupted sooo much. Fantastic to hear from her though.
live versions sounds so unusual and unique. Thank you for uploading, bro <3
This album is criminally underrated. Start to finish it’s awesome.
Eu não acredito q vou ter q baixar esse vídeo e tirar as músicas individualmente 😩😫
I wonder why there are so few interviews with Liz Harris.
Shes very private
She's a real artist not a celebrity that's why she's one of my favorite and why the music is pure imo
I was hoping for an interviewer that would match the artists more calm expressive nature.
He’s really not listening to her lol
Melodia e letra afagantes e incrivelmente nostalgicas. Sem dúvidas uma obra de arte. Levarei essa canção em meu peito até o fim da vida como tantas outras desse artista inspirador (apesar de ser carioca).
Lindo demais
This interview is a good example of the disparity and potential issues regarding communication between extroverts and introverts. Over-talking and under-listening.
