Painted Desert
We head north-east out of Coober Pedy to Mount Barry and then to Arckaringa Station to camp for a couple of nights. It’s a great base to use while taking in the amazing colours and contrasts of South Australia's Painted Desert.
The breakaways of the Painted Desert look a little similar to the ones we saw at the Kanku-Breakaways out of Coober Pedy. We think these are better and certainly more extensive.

Dunns Track is a seldom used remote 260km track that runs between Cocanarup, near Ravensthorpe and Dundas, south of Norseman. Similar to the well known Holland Track it was a shortcut to the 1890’s goldfields. The Dunn family started sheep farming at Cocanarup west Ravensthorpe in 1871. The Dunn brothers pioneered a track from Cocanarup first to Carlingup in the 1870s, then extended the track t...
Dunn Rocks - East of Esperance

Dunn Rocks lies within the Cape Le Grand National Park and is about 55km east of Esperance, Western Australia via sealed and gravel roads with four wheel drive access to the beach. Great 4WD beach driving, fishing, swimming and camping.
Hi, nice video, you mention GPS plotting for this track. Is there any way to share these? I tried following along on Google maps but lost you after the doggers hut. Planning to drive this after summer 👍
Glad you liked it. I've put links to the GPS Plots (GPX format) in the description.
Having spent a day in the ranges myself during spring after a good winter rains, the fields were covered in wildflowers. The roads within the park were easy in a 4wd..which you do need. Be well prepared for emergencies as you are likely not to see anyone else on the tracks. Scenic , but less than spectacular. Was based at Wudinna for a few nights to explore other impressive rock formations nearby & visit the spectacular coastline not far away.
Great country out there. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Just beautiful ☀️
