If g((x-1)/3)=x+7, then x=3g+1, and x+7=3g+8. Then g(x+1)=3(x+1)+8= 3x+11
(x^2) - 3 = 0 x^2 = 3 x = +/- 3 The 2nd and 3rd root, Simpler and elegant, thanks.

why using ln? 3^x * 4^((x-1)/x) = 18 3^x * 2^(2 * (x-1)/x) = 3^2 * 2^1 compare by same bases: 1=> 3^x=3^2 ------------------> x=2 2 => 2 * (x-1)/x = 1 (2x -2)/x = 1 2x - 2 = 1 * x 2x - x = 2 ------------------> x=2 check the first question with that simple solution... what am i missing?

But -sqrt(3) does not satisfy the equation either. You'd have the square root of a negative number (for the smart*ss who's gonna complain about complex numbers, the square root is not a well defined function in that field)

not a well defined function in what field? the square root is well defined in the complex numbers. to the point that you can even find the square root of -i. for those curious about it. it's √(1/2)- i*√(1/2)
@@WilliamWizer-x3m no, it's not... 'cause w= -sqrt(1/2)+i*sqrt(1/2) also holds the equality w² = i ... so which one is THE square root? If it was a well defined function, you'd have just one result, but there are two possible... that's because wⁿ - a = 0 has always n distinct roots for a=/=0 thanks to the fundamental theorem of algebra
@@rodrigocontrerasmartinez3143 express the number in polar coordinates. it's a lot easier to make any operation on complex numbers using polar coordinates and. HEY, surprise. it clearly defines roots.
