I like your videos. I am new to sailing, bought a 35 foot ericson
Thanks for watching. Congrats on the ericson. That's a big boat to start learning on, but doable. Have fun and be safe
Suba lub a dub dub'ed !
cant find episode 3 mate
I’ve currently got my hunter tore apart to fix those same leaks. Windows, entry way, sea hood. You’ve got a lot of work ahead of you but it’s possible to seal it up.
Aww, I'm sending you lots of good vibes!
Thanks, I need it
Lake Champlain? Which marina?
It's the bridge view harbor marina. So. Chill here
Good morning, thanks for the comment. After picking it up from the barn where I found it.It took me about 2 weeks before.I actually sailed it. That's just because I didn't have much free time on my hands. And quite frankly.I have no clue How the damage to the hull happened and the person I got it from had no idea either. Chao
Well, that was cool, free is great! Nice video, how much time did it take to get her ready for water? Any idea about what caused the damage? When I was a kid (50 years ago, LOL) I got one that had been on a trailer and was in a traffic accident, another car hit the sunfish while it was on the road. It had some scrape and cut damage. It took a month to get all the water out but after that was an easy fix, sandpaper and time! Mine was the green and white color setup.
I understood that you were suppose to make a taper 10 times the diameter of the whole for repairs? Why did you go with so much less and only 2 layer of fiberglass? That is not much if you take a hit from something in the water
Hi, great questions. And I'm sure my video doesn't give this info any justice. Regarding the glass layup, this video only shows the first two layers of I believe 7 layers I applied. I started small and increased each in size. I felt this way each individual peace would contact the existing hull on the perimeter of the each layed fabric. Then filled hole from interior within thickened epoxy. Then layers of glass from interior. Holes were 1 and 2 inch. My biggest fabric was 16" x 12". Is this not big enough?
How did you finish the inside holes?
Still in progress 😉 check out the next videos coming really soon
why eliminating the valves
So I have a composting head now, and the sink has a new drain above the waterline. There is no need for the old ones, plus those styles of valves never belong on boats. Also they had some makeshift wood shims incorporated. I did not like the looks of them.
@@Jezfamilysailingadventures great video and explanation. I was thinking eliminating those too to avoid leaks. Also having sink water above the water line makes sense. Thank you 🙏 great channel
@@hebertcentrone6804 thanks for watching
Hey I from Belize would like to have that sunfish sailboat. It's so beautiful.
To bad you not closer, I'm thinking about selling it 🤔
I had a Mac 22 as well loved that boat
I already miss her so much😢
The brochure for the 21 says 17 mph. I have talked to Macgregor’s agent about this several years ago when they were closing shop. I have The Venture 22 and the Mac 21, that I stare at in my front yard every day waiting for my kids to mature to wanting to see what it will do.
I believe that the fastest I ever had this boat was 6.8 knots. Faster then the motor would push her. Motor speed was around 5.5
The big deal with these is that they are some of the fastest sailboats on the water. I have a Venture 22, amongst others. The MacGregor has a foiled board and the Venture was a flat steel covered in fiberglass that rusted and fell apart.
I had the exact same Mac 22, it was in good shape and came with 2 very good suits of sails. I spent a couple months cleaning it up and re-fitting, and then sold it, having never sailed it. It was too cramped below decks for me, I just didn't like the layout. I had been sailing my Sanatana 22 for years and stuck to that. I am older now and am driving a Nimble Nomad Trawler. I do miss sailing. Good luck with your search, I hope you find your boat.
Thanks for the comment, I personally agree with you that it was too cramped below deck. Hopefully, I will be looking into a new boat the weekend. Cross my fingers. I can get my wife to come along.
Beautiful job with the restore! I have the same boat and love it!
@jparks4815 thanks for the feedback 😀. Unfortunately, I no longer own this awesome little sailing vessel. But check out the video of the new hunter I'm trying to buy. There is plenty of work to do that this boat aswell 🤙
