Typst is a collaborative app for scientific writing. You focus on your text, Typst takes care of the rest. Automatic templates make formatting a breeze. And with tightly integrated markup and layout, your document looks exactly like you imagine it.
Reading Typst Like a Parser | Ian Wrzesinski @ Typst Meetup
If you are listening to this talk, you already have experience reading Typst as a human. But have you ever wondered how your computer is able to understand Typst markup? In this talk, community member Ian Wrzesinski walks us through how the Typst parser understands your code. Take a look into the three techniques that solve unique syntactic issues in Typst! If you want a more in-depth explanation of Pratt Parsing, Ian recommends this compendium of blog posts (the most recent are on the bottom): www.oilshell.org/blog/2017/03/31.html

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words | Kyano Levi @ Typst Meetup

Kyano's talk presents a new data visualization package-in-the-making that fully embraces the spirit of Typst by using modern, idiomatic concepts for old problems. By using Typst as the driving programming language, he plans to close the gap in existing tools like Matplotlib and PGFplots. This enables a streamlined workflow for diagrams that are at the same time fast-to-write, fast-to-execute an...

Learn about some of the biggest new features in Typst 0.12. There are page-spanning figures, line numbers, performance improvements and more to discover in this exciting update. The full changelog is available on typst.app/docs/changelog/0.12.0/ You can also read our blog post about the new release at typst.app/blog/2024/typst-0.12/ (and yeah, the lighting is not optimal yet, we'll be improving...
I see that there are dozens of us! Dozens! (Around 21+2 is actually not that much, but considering that the community is small and not everyone can jump countries willy-nilly, it's quite a lot.)
There's an "[UNINTELLIGIBLE]" in the subtitles which is "But, obviously, we want to help ...". You can edit the subtitles to put that in.
Sounds like it's time for another batch of PRs!
I actually knew about number 6! I remember being uncertain about whether I should comment about it in the relevant GH issue, but I decided that the soundness issue wasn't worth fixing
ppt(slides) is so beautifull, i wich i had the typst file code for the presentation (slides) - Edited text
What?
@@judaronen".ppt (Note: it's probably .pptx) is also beautiful, I wish I had the Typst code for the presentation"
God damn it's crazy good.
Looks exciting!
I need the Lilaq visualization package like right now. Cool package, and I can't wait to play with it! Great work Kyano!
I loving typst. Came just in the right moment. I wrote my Semester Project in Autum 2023 and my Bachelor Thesis this Spring with it. And looking forward to write my Master thesis with it. But am using it also for any other writing
I've already picked interest of several professors in my university with Typst. Very excited to continue spreading the word about Typst!
Let's fricking go!
Unfortunately the sound is unusable 😢
There are non-automatic, usable subtitles though.
As in the other video, we had a mishap recording the microphone‘s track. AI enhancement of the audio did not yield an improvement. The upcoming talks have microphone audio.
@@typstapp i feared that there was a pattern evolving … Always have a backup for the sound!
It's a bit echoey, but "unusuable" is hyperbole. It's perfectly understandable to me
Well, this _is_ the backup... and honestly, it's really not that bad.
HTML export is a feature I would love to see to be able to have static site generators that use Typst instead of markdown.
I love LaTeX, but I'm excited about Typst. I gave it a try and it's amazing. I'll be switching completely to Typst in the future, there a few thing that are not quite there, but I know that eventually it will overcome LaTeX, mostly because of the built-in programming language capabilities.
I can't wait to get accessible PDFs!
Nice! Will you upload the other talks as well?
Yes, they will go up staggered over the next two days.
Wow HTML export would be great
Don't you have better sound? This is sadly almost unusable. Maybe try to clean it up via auphonic. It can improve bad sound quite a lot!
The subtitles are very good.
I was discussing this with a friend today. Looking forward for typst to grow! Wonderful work!
Looking forward to the other talks!
Thanks a lot for sharing the keynote!
why don't you guys record the audio off the microphone instead of the camera ??
We did do that. But GarageBand decided to record the sound of the phone in my pocket for the first few talks instead, so…
Just discover typist. What a fantastic tool. I installed on win11, Ubuntu 24 and it was so easy. Just one binary! the package manager is so easy! GREAT JOB team typist!
whats this marriage of weird stop motion shorts with a software called Typst supposed to mean??
I don't understand these xD
1:28 wow that looks like a pretty cool book
even faster!!!!! i love how the typst devs worry about the resource footprint ... that's a wonderful project!!! trying to make my colleagues use it ...
Thanks for developing this great project!
0:07 Now I fully trust Tarantino
Very nice! :D
Keep up the good work!
Technically, he typed the introduction header - which should be awarded bonus points. He gave you a head start.
My broke ass can’t support you guys enough for what you do
thanks for the great product guys
so unfassbar cool!
I simply love typst. So much cleaner, faster more intuitiv then LaTeX.
bro, first line indent doesn't work still. intuitive AF
I hope that with some of the new features included in this release (multi-column figures, line numbers) some scientific journals will consider switching to typst! Waiting for the HTML output eheh
geil digga
That guy looks like as if he just committed 3 million lines of rust code
unfavorable lighting😂
whats is sad is, that instead of recording this video he could have commited even more :)
You're mistaken. It was 5 million.
Congrats for the massive release!
Need a local only editor. I will pay for it.
My experience with vscode + the tinymist typst extension has been really good, definitely give that a try if you haven't already
Visual Studio Code is your friend. The typst related plugins are imo fine to work with
@@_lumio Yup, just add the tinymist plugin.
Just use vs code
Now almost every language has a server. Just hook it up with your an editor like VS Code, and the rest is magic!
Great!
Excited for the new changes! But...is there a spider above you just put of frame? What do you keep looking at?
I was like 😂😂💔💔
Well produced
i refuse to Believe that typst is pronounced this way
Well, now you know :)
@@laurmaedje I am glad to be burdened with knowledge
I vote for the proper german way: Tüpzt
@@izd4How did you pronounce it before?
@@curry-howard typist
There should be a sequel where the Latex guy types also in Typst
You start out as a simple software dev and eventually you land here high on ACID. Truly amazing.
They're have fun with the typst creatures hehe
Please make a tutorial
