Nanci is interviewed in 1995 by John Conlon on Nashville's WRLT radio to promote her Flyer album and the single, "Time Of Inconvenience."
Nanci Griffith on "The Road" full (from my ORIGINAL posts; see description)

I recorded this show on VHS back in the 1990s; Nanci's appearance on the show was done in three segments, so I transferred each segment to digital and uploaded them as separate parts to UA-cam (you can find them on my channel). In retrospect, I should have taken the time to merge them together as one, but I was in a hurry that day. Within a day of the postings, however, another UA-camr (one tha...
Nanci Griffith on Late Night With Conan O'Brien

I recorded this on VHS years ago using a antenna; obviously, my reception was not good that night, so I apologize for the poor quality. Also, this is a repost since there seemed to be a problem with my UA-cam app regarding the first post; the video seem to be fully uploaded and was able to be watched but my device kept saying that the video was still uploading, so I was forced to delete it and ...

I know Nanci Griffith fans have been wanting this for a while and since I was devastated by her recent passing, I decided to post it in her honor. This video came from an old VHS tape that was copied from an even older VHS tape, so don't expect great quality but it's better than nothing, right? The VHS to digital transfer was done courtesy of an EasyCAP device and a wonderful program called Deb...
🥰🥰🥰
Eric Taylor is in a class all his own.
💯💚😊💚💯💯💚 I concur. She is our World's treasure ❤️❤❤.
I see a very young Lyle Lovett on back ups 😃
So beautiful and so painful to see NG and ET sing together. I wish they still aired Mountain Stage on PBS TV - it’s great radio and I love the livestreams when they have them. But it would be wonderful to see this show on PBS here in Minneapolis TPT
A pair of unheralded major artists in a world full of currently throwaway dross dressed up as popular music! - Thank you Nanci & Eric RIP
I miss her
I remember the promo for this episode. From the first line of "Once in a Very Blue Moon," I was smitten. It's interesting how many of these comments feel personal, like mine. Not many artists can touch people the way she did.
This was my first exposure to her.
This lady was so special
So true.
Yes!
In case you haven't yet discovered them (as her 'best' music isn't available on Apple or Amazon streaming) I hope you'll find her 'Poet in my Window' and 'Once in a Very Blue Moon' records. Both have that rare quality of recordings one never tires of hearing. I saw Nanci perform many times and met her once. A truly enigmatic person and performer. She had an irresistible attraction about her, somehow combined with a perplexing inexplicable distance. She left us with so much. We're so fortunate to enjoy it.
I bought two cds on a mtn biking trip to Moab in the mid 80s, Last of the True Believers and Poet and My Window and I was hooked.
Rare gift to American music box
Her abrupt exit from the stage during "Spin On a Red Brick Floor" has me scratching my head. Could she no longer resist the call of nature? I should imagine it had something to do with the concert being squeezed into the tight parameters of a TV show. Did she return to the stage for an untelevised encore or at least to thank the audience and bid them a farewell? Don't get me wrong. I'm a big Nanci Griffith fan and have never once heard of her disrespecting or cheating her audiences. Rather, she was always adored by her audiences. Her departure here was just weird and some might even say rude. I am more than willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and if anybody knows what prompted it, please share.
I have Always. Loved Nanci since I first heard her in '93 So sorry she is not with us now!!❤️
Sweetness incarnate...I cried when I heard of her passing.
AWESOME!, JUST AWESOME!!!
Could someone please provide the list of song played here?
🙏
Felt a sense of betrayal from my local fm radio station for never introducing me to Nanci. Fortunately I found her on late-nite ACL after a few shots of Jack, and was immediately smitten and transported to other times and places. The radio station that had introduced me to Gordon Lightfoot and Tom Rush, John Prine and others, failed due to the death of one dj who insisted on playing artists who didn't fall into categories
She is the cutest woman I have ever seen 😊 And so talented 🍻🎸
That's a very good copy from 2nd generation VHS. I saw Nanci twice, once in MA and once in Newcastle, England (with the Crickets). She made it seem like she was singing just to you.
Im going to be Nanci Griffith when I grow up, mark my words. Check again in five years, I will be singing her songs and mine too.
5 years? I don't know if we can wait that long! 🙂
@@hadji828 i have already started writing. I need to learn guitar and learn to sing. god hear me and help me!
Best of luck in your efforts, but I believe Nanci would advise you to be yourself. She appreciated other artists, but insisted on playing her music also. Wonderful for us she did
@@janette9872 better to be janette9872
Thank you for the effort in getting this up here. Nancy was surely a unique artist, a singular lady. Philip Donnelly passed in late 2019, just a few months before his lifelong friend John Prine and sadly then Nancy herself. Philip was instrumental in expanding Nancy's reach and popularity in Ireland and Northern Europe. Others helped too as JP's wonderful speed of the sound arranged by Donnelly made big in Europe, Wonderful folk, country and RnR legends that were not afraid to try something different. Rest gently in peace, each and every one of them 🙏🙏❤️
Wow, and Lyle Lovett on background vocals!
I watched this the first time it was broadcast and immediately bought one of her albums. Some friends of mine had a band and they promptly learned several of her songs. Rest in peace, lovely lady. You got a lot of people through some tough times.
This is some of the greatest song-writing you’ll ever hear…two amazing genius at the top of their game…
I wish the would release this to dvd and cd. I have a vhs copy as well.
Good old Lyle Lovett on backup.
I never got to see her in concert. Thank you so much for sharing this. These songs are from my favorite era.
Hi Thank you for sharing this video. I love this version of the song Ballad of Robin winter-smith, what a voice, what a band and what a solo guitar!!! Simply amazing...
Oh wow, I didn't know Mountain Stage used to be on TV!
Omg, Lyle Lovett as a background vocalist...
Well not the full performance but a good bit of it. Thank you so much for posting. This performance was my first exposure to Nanci so many years ago.
Was that Lyle Lovett singing backup? 😊 Hell of a band and Nanci Griffith’s killer vocals!
I’m grieving for her and another great we lost recently, John Prine. They were two of my absolute favorites. 🎶❤️🙏🏼
*This is a pretty darn good audio/video recording for being a recording from a recording, a VHS recording at that.*
Thank you for sharing this! I saw this when it originally aired on TV. I just fell in love with her voice. Rest in peace, Nanci. Thank you for giving your music to the world.
My father recorded this performance on Beta and I used to watch it a lot as a little kid. Thanks for posting this, I feel like I'm reliving the greatest hits of childhood.
This is great, I love seeing Nanci in these natural settings. She really enjoys herself when singing and playing her guitar. I found her after her passing, MY LOSS. Great lady. .Lots of Love from this CANADIAN guy.
It's all the people who work in Austin City Limits since 1971. : )
Lyle Lovett on back vocals. How bout that!
I love Nanci Griffith - there I said it . Rip you beautiful woman .
Saw her at Anderson Fair. Sweet magic.
Thanks for sharing this😊
Thanks for uploading this😊
So blessed by her music may she rest and sing with the other angels
This woman was a treasure.
Lyle Lovett as back up singer.
Thank you for this. . .came across it while looking for some Nanci live. Means so much to see her again at this phase of her career!
I see the great Mark O'Connor behind Nanci on the fiddle. Can anyone else fill us in on who the rest of the band are?
Nanci introduces each member by name at the end of this concert
