FYI, excellent tutorial, answered a huge question for me.

I realize you are trying to keep it simple, but it would be important to teach that top plates always overlap and interlock with adjacent walls for strength. Also, you mention the doors are heavy, then you should plan for a header in the door frame which will require two trimmer studs on each side with the header resting on them.

you may not read these comments now, but I'm using an ipad and I haven't figured out the way to do the x8 step to copy multiple studs

Honestly I forgot how time consuming was working in sketch up without any plugins. Follow me is a great tool though.

When I tried to copy my first stud component over to the second one and then the other 8, part of the back of all the copied studs were erased, or not there. I don't know how that happened. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just use the circle tool, select 6 sides and then the radius. Offset the the thickness of the timber from the outer edge. Remove the center and then pull it to the width of the timber?

This was a great introductory video for SketchUp. I've never used sketching programs before and was looking for something easy to use as a beginner. I am building a cabinet for a 3D resin printer and did a rough draft on paper. I wanted a more visual representation of how my cuts would look on a 4x8 sheet of melamine and assemble it using SketchUp. Your instructions were easy to follow for a beginner like me. an alternate way for the short beam is to make a copy of the long beam then make unique adjust! he length then rotate it 180 degrees then place it. I enjoyed this video very much. thank you
