Today’s style of playing the bodhran would totally destroy the feel,essence of this beautiful tune. The sad part is just like a fella I met this weekend in NYC hitting the drum like bongo drums these “wackers” would have no clue and instead of the bodhran being in the background and supporting the tune just like Joe did the drum would distract the melody from the main instrument here the whistle. Keep it simple most times and pick your spots for flourishing is best advice for a solid trad bodhran player.

This is why I love Irish music. As a musician, I appreciate you need to pay attention to your fellows and know the music by heart. I love how the story and the music come first, and the performers as second. Otherwise, it sounds commercial and not sincere. I am a huge fan of folk music and Irish is the one that my heard holds dear and near.

this is why I love our culture, our history and our song so passionately. It's barely been touched by the corporate world,and you rarely hear it on the television, but if you ever visit our beautiful land and get out into it, you'll find fine musicians like these two fellas all over our island , in bars, busking, in family homes, in village dancehalls, at festivals,it's EVERYWHERE,but you have to come here and socialise to hear it, and THAT'S why I love it all so much. it's a social culture we have here, and out music Is best enjoyed with others. always has been, and always will be, because our song tells stories, of history, and victory, and battles and life... God save Ireland.
