If you feel like kicking up your heels and meeting some wonderful people, come and join us at our weekly classes. Learn contemporary and traditional English Country Dancing in a fun-filled setting. Village Green English Dancers, Peacock Ball, April 23, 2022
The Village Green English Dancers, of Winnipeg, Canada, do English Country Dance and Contra Dance: basic and advanced lessons, Saturday night dances, and live performance. English Country was the most popular dance form in the courts of Europe from the 1600s to the 1800s. (Truly the first “English Invasion”.) It was easy enough for almost everybody and allowed young dancers a chance to flirt, away from the ears of their elders. Contra is how the tradition evolved in the Appalachian region of America.
