His instructions are so clear I don't even speak Chinese and I get what he wishes to convey. Appreciate the posting.
actually he's hiding the real applications of the forms apparently he wants to keep it a secret from the public like for instance at 23:14 as well as 26:40 these techniques are meant to be used as escape from arm locks but he only shows the striking applications. Important application of "hide flowers under the leaf" was also not shown.
May be he's not hiding all the applications, but he's shown one application out of many. Thank you for showing the escapes from armlocks, though.
Excellent video and glad it doesn't have sub titles as they obscure the movements and if you watch the Sifu closely as he makes his corrections and tune into his inflections you can get a pretty good idea of how he's explaining everything.
bullshit
Gracias Shifu; excelente. Saludos desde Bogotá, Colombia. Abrazos.

24 paired practice in entirety
4th set of 24 paired practice
3rd set of 24 paired practice. Think of 24 paired practice as a template: to change suiting opponent's response
2nd set of 24 paired practice
We use to chopping palms at the end. Defender must evade and chop in return
Very informative and instructional. Do you have more videos posted?Thank you Shifu.

Хвала на овако исцрпним инструкцијама!
Bob Claxton Thank you for posting this,it's the best instruction on Cheng style Baguazhang I have seen. Even though I do not understand the language Master Liu Jing Ru conveys the meaning with his body language.
The same as Disc 1 the examples of the blocks and strikes explains alot. Thank You again.
Your blocks and strikes are really good examples. Thank You
very good.thanks.

Thanks for posting this, its great. Do you know if the sword form is on youtube?
Awesome stepping. Could see the power of his stepping in his push at around 27min. Really great. And yes some subtitles would be great. Beautiful to watch.
FredoFreedom
subtitle please
Anyone know if you can buy a dvd of this with subtitles?
47:05
the music in this is absolutely sensational
I second the commenter below - we need subtitles.
I know a little of this . . . a little of that when it comes to martial arts. I know quite a few sifus and umm . . . masters of different kinds of fighting. My cousin is one. :) A 'fighter' or the teachers I know who pride themselves on fighting would laugh at this clip. Mostly westerners and the Japanese or Thais (with their muay thai.) There's something to be said for these people who 'cultivate' in their art. They want a longer life. So if they hold true to that . . . they should cut out the application BS . . . just do the form. They're not fighters. They should know the risks of doing things that will hurt their bodies. And yet when you 'cultivate' . . . you are non violent . . so . . . you know MORE about a fight because you won't get into one. Just do the form.
+Jo Ou even if they are not fighters and probably never had the need to use the techniques they should still show the function of the technique. Wushu taolu puts a lot of emphasize on shape and the health benefit of doing taolu is without question but practicing taolu without having a clue about their use isn't the right way to go. Even if you don't intend to use it on someone there should still be a general understanding of the techniques and their use.
+Jo Ou I would argue that the technique is never pure... it is not a set of mechanically precise moves that exist in heaven discovered and implemented. Demonstrating the move's application provides further insight into its implementation. I agree that the point of the exercise is fundamentally as exercise designed to stretch the body as the body is conceived in Chinese medicine, but the side effect of the exercise is a body better coordinated to defend and handle itself and access to the implementation facilitates this.
English Sub Titles Needed !!
感谢你,伟大的教学。
Thank you. Great instruction.
