This video is about 54C RIT Drills Training Prop Throughout May and June 2015, a mayday prop resided inside the bay of Station 54. The prop was used as a part of the Salt Lake Valley Fire Alliance Symposium and then was scheduled for three days of use for WJFD to perform mayday training. With the prop residing in the bay of their station, the crew of 54C saw the opportunity to do more. A focus ...

Trench Rescue Panel Placement Same Side Panel Set Method
You demonstrate bad habits to others who train firefighters. And incorrect technique to those who are just beginning. Very poorly done.
why no knot ? the knot used usually is a slip knot anyways
It's simply a no knot method, that's all.
soooooo wrong. NEVER hang load off of rung! you sling around the beams and the rung stops it from falling.
Thanks for the awesome video. Do you guys have a secondary to the victim?
Can I suggest that you refer to the person being rescued as the "patient" or "casualty" as opposed to "victim"? Using "victim" sounds like the person is already dead....
Worth watching just to see that airway management trick.
😀😀😀💗
How is the Patient attached, they are in the Litter, buckled in, but whats your second point of attachment to them?
I was taught to tie a share knot with the loops behind the head to insure the arm loops stay put
Thanks for the great video!
Great tech tip. I never seen assamble the hasty harness this way before.
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
If it’s required to have my face mashed into some other dudes meat, do me a solid and cut my line! ….. let me go….. it’s what god wants….. it’s my time to go. 😂🤙
Try this with a 2m Jag, works really well and keeps the ropes so tidy in the net around the strands of rope
Also good for electric cords
Interesting .
Good use of minimal gear . I beg pardon Sir , I cant help but to mention the potential of gravel and the ladder angle without a ladder tether . Why not add a single sheave pulley to that dedicated gear bag ? Rope chaffing on those textured rungs under a load has got to be dangerously severe !
interesting info .
Omg thank you so much, this was so helpful
Hi! What is the name of this device or this set?
Am a fire fighter and still learning new techniques like it
Thanks for the video! 1st We use webbing for a hasty harness on the patient. This is prusiked to Safety even before the basket and additional rescuer(s) come down on Main (sent up by 1st rescuer down to assess the patient) and remains so for Redundancy. Everything else is the same as this video presents. Patient is secured to spine board which can be challenging on a slope...
...glad to see some firefighters are still engaged in finding life-saving techniques. However, a video with smoke, firefighter(s) in packs, masks, GLOVES, some noise, and a 250-pounder in a room full of sh*#, carpet, and full window dressings would seem to be a better, a more realistic, test of the likelihood that this technique would be generally successful.
What about using a 4:1
Because there's (presumably) a fire in the building!
nice
The safety should go do the harness on the victim. If you have a catastrophic failure they will not be captured.
I had the same thought. Redundancy is gone.
good video. I learned it with wrapping the rung and dropping the bag down, but same principal
Sorry, but that is not a square knot that you ended with. That is called a thief's knot. A square knot will have both tails, or running ends on the same side. When they end as you have them, they can roll out, thus stealing the integrity of the knot (Where the 'thief" name comes from). Not trying to be too critical, but most people prefer not having all the rope across the top rail of the litter.Keep on with the training though, you got to love ropes and the variations that are shown.
Where is he wrong? He is correct that a square knot has the two tails on the same side. Look at the video again, the tails are on opposite sides. Either way, in this application I don't see that it makes a difference as the cloves are going to be the holding knot on the basket anyway.
@@stokes771It is a little bit wrong. Not that its holding anything but try it sometime and you will see it doesn't hold together as well as ending the tails on the same side(opposing). Good video by these guys showing how they do things though.
ua-cam.com/video/VBa_GuZ-Nlo/v-deo.html Square Knot - AKA - Reef Knot is not fit for use until an overhand knot is tied as Safety on each tail. However, we use a pre-rigged rated webbing Bridal with a centre D Ring.
I'm taking construction course and this video was so helpful
Nice video. One thing we do different is connect the set of 4's into the main line. That way the rescuer is always directly connected to the main. Not that the ridiculous rating on the ring isn't good enough to connect to, we just like to keep it consistent across various rope skills i.e. pickoff's, etc. Again, nice vid. Stay safe.
Good technique. I would add the twist and re-clip to the excess webbing to cinch that up.
Excellent demonstration and explanations of key terms of a collapse.
Am I the only one here who subscribes but has nothing to do with firefighting or rescue?
Excellent! Just wonder what software you used here to demonstrate? Thank you!
EXCELLENT!! Thank you! I'm starting the fire academy in a few weeks and this video was so helpful.
Just wondering if a worker cannot get out of a trench as a collapse occurs, is there any recommended body position, that might help survivability until rescue?
I suspect the correct answer is to be in a position behind shoring or in a trench box.
Excellent informative video, I'll be keeping my eye out for these signs of instability 👍
