Thanks for the video. Problem is, in Germany 1zpresso refers to the grinding chart/manual but there isn't any on the german websites. Now I found them on the US website because of your video! Thanks.
Hello, thanks for your video. It's so well done, I love how you wrote those post-it notes. Must have been a lot of work. I have a question for you. After you close the burrs by going clockwise until they interlock and the handle doesn't move anymore (going to click 0), how many clicks does it take for you so the crank handle can spinn freely without the slightest touching of the burrs at some small handle position? For me it's 7 clicks until the burrs don't touch at all anymore, I'm worried that my burr set is not very well aligned and my grind will supper from that?
Hello, I test mine. It's about 2~3 clicks to give freely rotate. I bought mine about 3 years ago, and I knew they drop the suggestion clicks for espresso which needs very few clicks from their guide card. I'm not sure if they have modified Q2 or yours just doesn't work like mine. I suggest you consult the company. Good day.☕
Hi Jess. Where can i find this grinding list of the Q2 with the turkish and the espresso. The official list you can download at 1zpresso does not show that. Greets Frank.
Hi Frank. I bought my Q2 about three and half years ago. I think they provide different grinding suggestion card now. You can watch the previous edition in this video at 1:03 if you want a closer look. Good day, Jess
I didn't understand the math but I followed the suggestion to go 24 clicks from zero and got pretty decent espresso grind using my gen-2 1zpresso Jx. Then I reasonned it out that 1 full revolution from zero is 30 clicks, 2 revolutions is 60 clicks, and so on. I simply convert the recommended setting from the "chart" into the number of clicks, using the x3 conversion factor. So simple! Now I can adjust my grind size with different beans ..... Thank you! I understand that most grinders use the same scale adjustment although on a unfamiliar grinder, I would verify the number of click per revolution first, then recalculate the conversion factor accordingly b4 converting the recommended setting into the number of clicks.
Interestingly, 1zpresso has since removed Turkish & Espresso settings from the Q Grind Settings Reference chart that appears in this video. The 3 other categories/ranges still match.
Amazing video. As a newbie to grinding, I was a bit lost with all the numbers and clicks until I found your video. Adjusting my Q2 was a breeze after watching this video. If I give you a list of all the appliances and gadgets in my house can you write post-it notes for me? :)
This is a great video. I just got the Q2 and went to the website for the grind settings and they seem to have changed the Q grinding recommendations from your video. Do you by any chance have a copy of your settings? Thank you
Sorry but for a french press it says 24-28 -- so if i want to do 28 , i rotate full clockwise and close the gap, then two full rounds (20 ) and then 8*3 = 24 clicks anti clockwise again ?
Hello, thanks for the video . But i did not understand the “1 digit” bit . Why 3 clicks ? So if i am doing 22 does that mean 2 full rounds and 6 clicks ? Please advice
Thanks for the video, until I disassembled the grinder and re-assembled it, I didn't realize that it didn't arrive at the zero point. Now I understand better what the dial actually means, and that my adjustment was quite a bit off on the first 2 days of use as a result. Thanks for the clear explanation, cheers!
hey so this was helpful. one question. when I first unscrewed it the little spiral came out and I did not notice which side was up and down. it looks almost these same but not completely. second question - when u put in the burr and then there is another piece yours seemed to push down and stay down where as mine is up so I have to manage to push it down and put the top bit that rotates. then 3rd question to u screw it on tight until it stops moving? can I possibly damage it somehow?
1. I think the spiral in Q2 doesn't have direction. Both directions work in Q2. 2. I hold the top first and the entire time, so the central stick won't rotate. Then I put the burr and rotate it to make ○■○. Then I put the little piece, which will fit the shape I did. 3.Then don't use too much strength 😆 Use enough strength to screw it, to make a click. You will know where's the end. Enjoy your coffee ☕😊
This video have saved me from so much headache trying to interpret the reference they gave. Thanks !! It finally makes sense of what that reference means !!
Excellent presentation! Thanks for sharing. The Q Grinding Recommendation card shown in your video is very helpful...1ZPresso does not included the Turkish and Espresso settings on the latest reference chart for the Q grinder.
I have been trying to reset my grinder for weeks after taking it apart and your video was the only one that is simple and makes complete sense👍- off for a proper coffee now
This was in Lance Hedrick's budget espresso video, so it seems like it can. I think it might lack fine enough adjustments you may also have to try adjusting for fractions or half of a gram to get the dialing in right
My mentor! Thank you! I used to be a quality engineer and also CI engineer, manager and consultant. Your method was very visual and specific. Keep on rockin'!!! Now excuse me while I go try this coffee for the first time!
I have this machine and I would like to use it with my dedica ec680m with an uncompressed filter, can you make another well-explained video for us to make it effective with an espresso grind, here I am subscribed to your channel
Once it's set, it's good for every other grind. 🙂 You have to do this every time after you clean your grinder thoroughly(means you disassemble the grinder to clean the grinder burr, then reassemble it). I suggest you clean your grinder more often if you live in a high humidity environment. The residue in the grinder with high humidity is nutritious to bacteria and mold.😱😱😱 Enjoy your coffee. 🙂
Yes, you can say that. Because there are 3 clicks between 2 numbers. 54 is a lot to count😁 I will go turn a circle then turn 8 digits.😉 BTW, the start number doesn't have to be 0, and doesn't have to be same number every time.
@@jesslee3146 Exactly, I've been testing, but even so, the recommended card settings are not that accurate (for my taste). I will get the Q2 soon so I can compare them better. Cheers.

Who knew a video without all the talking would be the most useful? This makes so much more sense than the instructions included, thank you!
Interestingly, 1zpresso has since removed Turkish & Espresso settings from the Q Grind Settings Reference chart that appears in this video. The 3 other categories/ranges still match.
Either it needs too much strength to grind such fine powder for espresso or it still can't reach the very fine powder for some enthusiasts. I guess.

Yes. Since 24 is a lot to count, I would rotate 3 full round (30) then back 2*3=6 clicks.😀
Does 18 mean 1 full round and 8*3= 24 clicks ?
Yes. Or you could take 2 full round then back 2*3=6 clicks.
Hello, thanks for the video . But i did not understand the “1 digit” bit . Why 3 clicks ? So if i am doing 22 does that mean 2 full rounds and 6 clicks ? Please advice

Do you think it could do good espresso?
I have no idea😅 I don't make espresso.

I knew I was doing it wrong, just by checking the particle size, thanks for the vid! :)
So 1 digit is equal.to 3 clicks? So if I wanted 24 I would do 2 full rotations and then 12 clicks,?
Yes 😊
Thanks 😊
Thanks for making this video! I've found it easier to clean if I unscrew the top tube too.
My top tube can't be unscrewed at first. After about a year I finally can unscrew it.😂
Will the Q2 (5-core) grind well for the picopresso, if so both are tiny so will be a great combination.
I never use picopresso, but I've seen people use 1Z K-plus with picopresso 😀
I've just ordered a Q2. Thanks so much for your video, you've helped me so much!
Thank you! So helpful.
Thanks, this is very helpful beside all these reviews not explaining how to count the clicks :)
THANK YOU. The manual instructions were so confusing for brand new beginner. 1zpresso should pay you for this video.
I found the instructions that came with this grinder baffling. Thanks so much for a simple, clear explanation.
have you ever tried espresso with 1zepresso Q2 with delonghi ec680 with an uncompressed filter
No 😅 I didn't try espresso. I usually make pour over coffee.

So basically you multiply by 3? For example if I want to get to 18, I have to turn 18x3= 54 clicks from 0 position?
Yes, you can say that. Because there are 3 clicks between 2 numbers. 54 is a lot to count😁 I will go turn a circle then turn 8 digits.😉 BTW, the start number doesn't have to be 0, and doesn't have to be same number every time.
Does it work fine with espresso
It can grind the beans to small particle size that espresso needs.

6 to 10 😀

Works for Jx?
It looks like Jx has the same adjustment system. But you should check the recommended number for your coffee on the information card with the product.
