Can bodyrez fix the Taylor ES2
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
Many Taylor owners lament the quacky sound from the ES2 pickup system. This video shows the TC Helicon Play Acoustic pedal's "body rez" feature on a Taylor 814 CE DLX and illustrates how the pedal can make the plugged-in signal sound more like an acoustic sound. This pedal can be used on other guitar pickup systems as well.

Which one would you keep? Taylor or Furch?
Переглядів 43 тис.2 роки тому
The Taylor 814 CE DLX and Furch Red Deluxe Gc are similar acoustic guitars. They are the same size, shape, and are impeccably made and appointed. The main difference between these two is the back and sides being East Indian Rosewood on the Taylor and Cocobolo on the Furch. This video compares them with various styles of playing both acoustically and with their pickups. The viewer is encouraged ...

Mournful, original song by Jason Bussell. Trying to capture the feeling many of us have had with loss and missing someone. It’s not about anyone in particular, but the listener may be able to relate to the sentiment.

Furch Red deluxe one month check in
I’m a bit confused. The D’Addario strings are either “phosphor bronze” or “80/20” - you talk about one string with both names. Can you clear this up?
Thank you for catching this error. They are the phosphor-bronze. I have been calling them by the wrong name.
Furch, no doubt there.
Furch has better tone. Beautiful lows and mids. The Taylor just sounds like a Taylor with that strange high range. The Taylor has more volume but that is rarely important anymore
Great video for comparison. I don’t play the guitar, but I’m thinking of buying one and taking lessons. Your video is extremely helpful. For me I think I like the warmth of the mahogany over the cover, but I’m not a player. At least not yet. Adam
taylor sounds much more flat, really small dynamic range in comparison to furch. have you used the same strings? I do like furch more tbh. much reacher overtones and more sonically balanced sound overall. To be fair, tailor also nice. May be used as dzingy accompaniment in big band.
Same strings, put on the same day. Thank you for your comment.
Only try a Lr Baggs or fishman System .....
I bought a guitar for about 4000 and the PU is bad.....
Very close, edge to the Taylor, just as warm, but a bit more clear.
Furshe..
I have two 1990's Taylors, and they sound like the Furch, warm, punchy and loud. New Taylors sound a little "tinny" to me. I guess if I were a fingerpicker I'd go with the Taylor but for an "all around" instrument I'd go with the Furch. Reason, it seems to do everything well. New Taylors like the one you're playing don't seem to be that.
to my ear, the Taylor has a much brighter sound, and the Furch is much better balanced and accurate. It has more bass punch, and it is mellower. It seems like the Furch body takes a much bigger role in tone than the Taylor.
Koa wins for beautiful to see, Mahogany wins for beautiful to hear....but both sound really nice. Both guitars you could sit and play for hours.
Taylor sounds the absolute best
If you want to make music videos, you must buy a decent microphone.. and.. a 12 minute vidro, and you only start playing at about 7 minutes 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Furch. I'm getting ready to buy a high-end one very soon.
Wow! Just wonderful playing... Thank you.
Isn't the Taylor €2.000 more? In which case the Furch is plenty good enough. Cost aside, though, I would want the warmth of the Furch.. but the sparkle of the Taylor is wonderful.
Really? Furch if that helps.
Taylor, duh!
I have the Mahogany and it’s great. Just purchased the Koa with electronics (2022 - mint) from Reverb for $550.
Even for fingerstyle your playing was fairly quiet
Different metals have different tensile and ductile strengths. If your guitar has a set up to be at optimum for the phosphor bronze, then you'll have to tweak the set up slightly to be optimum with Titanium; in other words, 'to avoid buzzing'.
I find that if I sell a guitar I almost always regret it later. But you don't plan on selling ether do you? (I have a Furch and a pair of Taylors myself)
Furch Forever🤙🤙🤙
Keep the Furch! I could listen to you play all day!
Very informative. Thank you. I have the S1 Pro+ and really trying to avoid using my guitar amp or investing in even more equipment for my solo acoustic shows. I’m ignorant, though. So far, sounds like I wouldn’t be able to go directly from my guitar 1/4” to the Bose speaker. Is that correct? Do I need some kind of DI regardless? The speaker itself is fantastic, but I’d still like to eliminate the need for more equipment.
The Bose accepts 1/4 inch plugs directly. No need for DI.
@@jasonbussellsmusic8828 Wow, thanks for replying! I did that and it just didn’t give me the oomph I like from my guitar. I don’t know a whole lot about gear, so thank you so much for being a resource.
Your favorite?
The Larrivee is all solid wood and is older, so it sounds better. But it costs more.
Conparison videos are always fun, but I always recommend to go out and play them. All the taylors I've ever played, which is dozens and dozens, suck turbo arse even the 800 series models I've played. There was one 214 plus that I played in Tonawanda that i really liked but for most part they just dont make me feel like they're alive. Experience has generally been a little better with Furch, but only considerably and not substantially. If you can afford it, the best thing to do is commission one from a skilled luthier who can tailor the build to every one of your individual needs. I don't make a lot of money, so it was patiently saving for what felt like an eternity but it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately for any off the rack guitar, they have been optimized for general consumption, so its really just a lengthy numbers game of trying out guitars until you find something you like but never truly love.
Taylor
Furch - no contest
A suggestion, make a timestamp for each strings so it'll be easier to tell the difference
Nothing can fix this horrible ES system. Get real, and put a Fishman Prefix or Blender in it.
Easy: Who's copying who right now? There you go, keep the Furch.
keep Furch
easy, FURCH
for a $500 difference in price The Furch is still the better deal. Plus Furch has nicer woods, all hand made...
Oh yes, I have an eastman 922ce and for the money it beats both of these guitars in my opinion
My choice would he the Furch no question. Better wood, better mid range, and better value for the buck
What are the cost differences between these two guitars?
$3999 for Taylor, $4499 for Furch.
Thank you, I have a 314ce, I replaced the strings with a pack of Elixr nanowebs that I have had for a decade. Sounds good but not perfect,. Picked up some EJ16's yesterday and am going to swap them out, I will also get some XS and try them. From your video i think Taylor might have made the right decision changing string brands.
Been using Elixirs forever since I don't like to change my strings that often, but always open to new options. They sounded best with the strummed open chords (lots of harmonics/overtones which I like), but sounded deader than the 80/20s in the picking example. I'll continue to experiment, but think I'll go with the 80/20s next. Thanks for doing the work so I don't have to restring my guitar 3x times haha.
Nice bro
I'll take the DAddario XS
Nice playing!
I like also everything about Furch in Comparison with Taylor 724ce, which I swapped to Furch and my old Yamaha FG800. Everything, except "I dont understand why it's harder to play". I lowered the action, I put the same strings on both guitars. But still can not get it why I play more clear and easier on Yamaha, than my Furch Red Deluxe. Today going to visit a music store and test some Taylors again after 6+ months of experience. But I also remember that Taylor was not so hard to play, even when I had much weaker fingers. The only one mentionable difference is that the Neck overall (not the size like 43/44.5/45mm) is bigger on Furch. I've heard that many people love that size and soft V shape, but maybe it just doesnt fit my hands... Unfortunatelly time didnt help to me. Otherwise sound, look, feel - I like everything more than on any existing Taylor ^^
Fingerpicking - Taylor Chords - Furch
Neither 🤔. Both sound really bright and stiff. There are better guitars in this price range
Elixers are horrible. Sap the tone of the guitar. If you want a treated string try Martin 540T or the String Joy treated strings.
I prefer the Taylor. It was cleaner, and projected more. I love warm, but the Furch just seemed to lack the clarity I want when fingerstyling. I can see the Taylor being heard playing solo in a casual setting with folks talking. It enunciates, while the Furch seemed to hum. So it just depends on what you want and need. Cheers!
That might've literally come done to this Furch model not having the same tonewoods as the Taylor
Very similar looks, but quite different sounds. I know why Furch is so popular in the comments. It's definitely warmer, and it seemed to take harder strumming MUCH better. It sounded like a Martin. But that is also part of the charm that Taylor has, it does NOT sound like a Martin. The Furch has more bass to it, but at times I felt it overpowered the mids and highs. And frankly though I like warm, the Furch almost came off as "dull" or muddy at times to me. But the Taylor "sang". It was crisp and clear. Though sometimes I did feel it sounded a bit thin, but only at times. So for my style of playing (fingerstyle, though simple... very much a melody player), the Taylor edged out the Furch this time. But both are fantastic guitars. That said, I love the Furch back bevel in the waist. I wish Taylor did that. Their "builder's edition" guitars have nailed the arm bevel and the cutaway compound bevel... but oh to have that back waist bevel along with it. Cheers!
