One of my mandevilla had aphids. I think I took care with soap, but what do I do to make sure that I don’t being bugs into the house?
Do you spray for insects before you bring indoors?
I have a red one and it is still in full bloom and I have it inside, so do I still have to prune it for winter?
Does it need light in cold storage?
Can I overwinter my dopledenis
Do they need light during winter? I want to buy it tomorrow at a discounted price and overwinter in my unheated garage, but there is no light there . Is that fine? Zone 8a
Thank you for this informative video. Bought my 1st one this spring. Love it, now I know how to keep it for next spring. 👌
When l store at the basement ,did l need to water it the whole winter
I have a heated garage, can I use a grow light, if so how long should I set the timer?😊
Can you over wenterize that kind?
I’m so glad you said sorry to the plant, this was breaking my heart 🥹 Mine is just new this year and it’s less then half that size. I hope I reach that growth next year! Thanks for sharing 😊
I apologized to mine too 🥲
Thank you so much for this video. I like the way you get straight to the point and move right along. I am definitely going to watch more of your videos. I'm convinced I can learn something. 🙂
My mandevilla is in the ground , will it be okay to pull up and pot for winter???
My friend is throwing out her dipaldenia and mandevilla, I am going to rescue them and try your method. My question is she wants her pots, so I am going to have to repot them. Will they still be okay?
Is it normal for the leaves to turn yellow before dropping off?
What a big and beautiful leaves!
Thank you, excellent & informative video! FYI; use gloves, it is essential to exercise caution when handling Dipladenia plants, as the toxic sap can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Additionally, it is recommended to keep Dipladenia out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion.
Sorry for the silly question, but do I continue to water it during dormancy, right?
During the dormant period does the plant need light my basement is fairly dark.
Cheers from Winnipeg, Canada! Thank you for sharing your video. Very informative! I had wintered a red Mandevila last year and will definitely bring it inside again after pruning back. I had bought a pot with pink, white and red this year. I love Mandevilas, and they seemed to thrive on my 23rd floor balcony with the sun and wind.
I’m in Winnipeg too, and also have a large pot with pink, red, and white mandevila. It’s going to freeze tonight (October 3) and it’s time to bring it into my breezeway. Planning to enjoy it until that area gets too cold; she said 6 degrees, right? Then it will get a good haircut and be moved into my heated garage along with my geraniums and canna lilies. What a great video. All the salient information and none of the time filler! ❤❤❤
Hi Betty! It's so wonderful to hear from another Winnipeger. I brought both my Mandevilas this past weekend before the overnight temperature dipped below 10 degrees Celsius. Right now they are in my living room of my apartment. I will need to remove my Canna lily bulbs and Dahlias and store them in my storage room. I am not looking forward to winter.
Does it need any light when you overwinter it? Or is it okay with just heat in the dormant period
I have a great place in my garage to overwinter, but I don’t have windows. Would grow lights work? 🤔
You didnt say if it needs light while its dormant
Im thinking of putting it in my attic ,but theres no windows up there.
Wonderful very helpful video. Just to check - in the basement over the winter months does the mandevilla need any light at all, or can it be dark? (If necessary, I can keep the clipped plant by a window in the basement.)
If I keep it inside do I water it or just leave it
Once it dipledemia has been cut back do I water it good and then stick it in a closet and forget get it
Do you need to add new dirt to the pot in the spring?
Worried about bringing bugs into the house. I usually have trouble with scale and mealybugs. Thank you for your response.
As a mandevilla grows should you intertwine the new vines down toward the woody beginnings? Ours in on our covered porch and looks like sticks at the soil level up about 8 inches and very green lush at the top toward the ceiling!
Hi should I water my Mandevilla when wintering?
Your video is very informative, I really appreciate it. Thank you!
Very helpful! Thank you so much!
I live in Central Florida. I have 2 Mandeville and 1 Dipaldemia. Do I need to prune? and when to do it. I live them all year round in my lanai. Thank you ! Appreciated your response.
I have seen my neighbor spraying my peonies with something that makes them have fungus and black spots. What should I do ??? Thanks
can i root the cuttings?
Sure you can!
You didn't say a word about light requirements during the overwintering process.
It doesn’t need any. Its going dormant and ideally being stored in a cool dark basement
Probably a silly question but when it’s in the basement we are still checking for moisture and giving as needed right?
Great video! Should we water right before going into cold storage?
Make sure it’s damp but not soaking wet. Check it periodically during dormancy and give it a bit of water if it’s super dry. You want to keep it alive but not encourage growth
So part of the reason why commercial growers, and even some gardeners plant their crowns a foot deep (like even your self suggested:) Is so that shallow cultivation and use of a Rototiller can actually be done safely. Nice video tho, you covered a lot of ground!
Thank you so much. I’m so glad I can keep mine as I was never green thumb and I love this diplodenia that I bought this year. At flowers beautifully and I’ve had it since April and I live here in Ohio! Your video is very educational and I appreciate it so much
Çok büyük ve ilgi çekici yaprakları var Ben de bu çiçeğe bakıyorum ama bendek yaprakları bu kadar büyük değil❤❤❤
So should I bring it inside the house in winter I lost mine twice
They have to be brought indoors to survive the winter
Love the Kong Coleus! Really do well on my porch and are just so beautiful!
Are these good to grow in north Texas?
For sure! Not sure if they will be hardy in your growing zone.
Can you root from what you cut off?
Give it a try!! I think they should grow roots for you.
Is it better to water impatiens from the bottom up, like putting water in the tray? My impatiens is in a pot. We live in metro Atlanta, Ga. And it gets hot. It may get about two hours of partial sun per day.
Top or bottom watering should be just fine
@@HuronRidgeAcres Thank you
I am in ohio. Just bought 2 sall pieces of phlox to be palnted in hot June. I know the flowering won't exeist until next spring but both my small pieces of phlox are very browm, with some shoots of green. Ddi I over water or are they drying out OR they will be healthy next spring because my recent transplanting of them?
I wish I could tell you, but unfortunately without seeing them it's very hard to know. New transplants always need more care than established plants. Don't let them dry out.... or sit in water. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
The grid didn’t hold up them up for me
I just was given 50+ roots, and most have many bulbs in them. Am I too late to get blooms??
depends on your growing zone.... give it a try, what do you have to loose?
My mandevilla has yellow and crunchy leaves. How can I help her survive?
Leaves that are yellow & crunchy didn’t get enough water
A cheap hint. I buy them outside the grocery store, one of those pots for $20 that has alot of them growing. Empty the pot, just take a saw and separate them, you can get 6 great cannas for different pots.
