As a coloured South African, I remember my mom and dad mentioning JPR Williams every so often. That is truly and indicator of what a great and transcending player he was. RIP

In Wales the ‘Great’ David Duckham is known has Dai Duckham by Welsh Greats like the late Great Phil Bennet and Gareth Edwards and the old Welsh Rugby fans of the day who loved him.

An absolute gem of a try. Not as good as "that try", but still well worth watching. RIP David Duckham and JPR Williams.

Ireland lucky enough to have an English blonde bombshell play for them many years later: Simon Geoghan. I watched him play in Lansdowne Road with my then girlfriend (who had a MASSIVE crush on him) and who was shouting the whole time to, "Give the ball to Simon! Give the ball to Simon!" When he was eventually passed the ball, he scored a wonderful try and one of the alikadoos who had been rather dismissive of my girlfriend's exhortations turmed to her and said, "Well, it looks like you were right!"

As a 5ft 11 naturally Welsh sidestepper (never taught) David duckham had the greatest step of all time in my opinion it’s like Porn for me watching that IN out IN and out

It can be said that it was the "most exciting" try ever scored ... Mind you the final pass to Williams was a mile forward ☺️ ... In fact there were at least 3 forward passes in the whole thing .... At least the play was allowed flow though - today it would have been stopped for the first knock on at Currans tackle

Those were special years for rugby union in the UK and when the game was amateur as well. Such talents on display here: Edwards, Duckham, Gibson, Slattery, Quinnell, Bennett and , of course, JPR. All such skill, risk-taking and intuitive flair is coached out of the players in the professional era. I am privileged to have seen these men play in the flesh, not just on the screen. RIP JPR. THE greatest full back.

Quite a different game now - and not necessarily for the better. A real scrum and a quick one - when real hookers and simple set-ups were the norm and subs were only if you were injured.

I loved it in the day watching Edward's torpedo deliveries, DD's majestic step, swerve & dummy pass - I can't stop re-running it! And how fitting JPR capped it all with the try to one of the most compelling passages of rugby, RIP JPR Williams & David (Dai) Duckham.
