This district alone Manufactures 60% of Smartphones in India | Smartphone Manufacturing in India

Introduction: From Dependence to Dominance
A decade ago, India was a nation heavily dependent on the import of smartphones, sourcing nearly 98% of its demand from abroad. Fast forward to today, and the scenario is starkly different. India now manufactures almost 99% of its smartphones domestically, with Gautam Buddh Nagar playing a pivotal role in this transformation. This district, encompassing key cities like Noida and Greater Noida, has emerged as the epicenter of smartphone manufacturing in the country, producing around 60% of the nation’s output. This remarkable evolution is a testament to the success of government policies, strategic investments, and the district's unique advantages.
Early Days: Laying the Groundwork for Industrial Growth
Before the 2010s, India was recognized more as a consumer market rather than a production hub for electronics. The government aimed to change this narrative through the *Make in India* initiative, launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The vision was to turn India into a global manufacturing powerhouse, focusing on job creation, skill enhancement, and self-reliance.
Why Gautam Buddh Nagar?
Gautam Buddh Nagar was an ideal candidate for this transformation due to its strategic location in the NCR. Its connectivity to Delhi, access to a robust transport network, and proximity to international airports facilitated the easy movement of goods. Additionally, the region had existing industrial parks that could be repurposed or expanded to accommodate large-scale electronics manufacturing.
Policies That Propelled Growth
The growth of smartphone manufacturing in Gautam Buddh Nagar was not accidental; it was the result of a combination of well-thought-out policies and initiatives designed to attract foreign and domestic investments:
Make in India Initiative
The Make in India campaign was crucial in establishing India as a viable alternative to countries like China. This initiative simplified complex regulatory procedures, reduced red tape, and promoted a business-friendly environment. It also sought to make licensing easier and land acquisition more straightforward for large-scale projects.
Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme
One of the most significant accelerators for smartphone manufacturing was the PLI scheme, which offered financial incentives based on production output. Companies meeting specific manufacturing targets were rewarded, leading to increased investments from global giants like Samsung and Apple, as well as domestic players.
Phased Manufacturing Program (PMP)
The PMP was designed to encourage local sourcing of components over time. By imposing higher import duties on finished smartphones while offering tax benefits for components produced in India, the PMP gradually pushed manufacturers to set up their supply chains within the country.
State-Specific Incentives
The Uttar Pradesh government also played a key role by offering benefits such as subsidized land, power supply at reduced rates, and fast-tracked approvals. These incentives made Gautam Buddh Nagar particularly attractive to companies looking to establish large-scale manufacturing units.
Conclusion: A Blueprint for National Success
The story of Gautam Buddh Nagar is one of vision, commitment, and strategic execution. From being a minor player in electronics manufacturing to housing some of the world's largest smartphone factories, the district stands as a shining example of what focused government policies and private sector collaboration can achieve. The success of Gautam Buddh Nagar has laid down a blueprint for other regions in India, demonstrating that with the right mix of incentives, infrastructure, and innovation, India can become a global leader in manufacturing.
As the district looks ahead, the future promises even greater growth, with further technological advancements, increased exports, and a continued commitment to making India self-reliant in electronics manufacturing.

Almost every big smartphone company does manufacturing in Noida-Greater Noida(except Apple)
Yogiji's industrial policies has done great in western up region
PLI scheme has been the most successful in electronics sector and this is it's proof
The new noida city will also boost more developement in the area
This district is also India's 3rd richest district with per capita Rs 8,48,633($10,052)
Noida is now going up the ladder in manufacturing too,not just smartphones it even got investments worth 50000 Cr in semiconductor sector(although they are big chips of around 60nm but it's just the start and we got it here already)

caste based politics is the main reason of bihar's lost glory
Because of high level of crime and lack of basic infrastructure companies don't come to Bihar
For development to happen in a place political stability is important but this palti baaz chacha changes his allies in every 6-8 months which impacts ideologies of government and no proper policy gets formed
Politicians of bihar are main reason why word "Bihari" has literally turned into a gaali in rest of India
Bihar will only get developed if biharis stop voting on the basis of caste
Politicians of Bihar have good connections with the mafias, they are the main reason why there is mafia raj in Bihar
Caste based politics is one of the main reason for Bihar's downfall, because of it everyone votes according to their caste and not on basis of development so in most of times barely any party gets majority and political instability rises and proper decision making never happens
Very informative

Complete communism never works for society, it's economically unsustainable,we beed a mix of socialism and capitalism to run a state/country properly
Wish we had government like DMK in kerala
The communist lobby creates problems for manufacturers and exporters, one of the main reason why many Malayali startup founders either move to gulf countries or to bengaluru, and set up their factories in Tamil Nadu or somewhere in the north, just listened to a podcast from Dr.Shashi Tharoor on what they will do if congress comes to power to improve industrial policies and bring in FDI,although it sounds pretty impressive but they are politicians they say something and do the other so can't trust
NIGGA ITS BANKRUPT STATE OF INDIA
Kerala is the amalgamation of three regions. Travancore, Kochi and Malabar. Travancore and Kochi were princely states and Malabar was under the British. Travancore and Kochi were far developed regions even before the arrival of the British. Education, health care, social welfare every parameter was very high. Malabar was just backward. Even now Malabar region lags behind the other two regions. Marxist rule has ruined the state with its militant trade unions and strikes against every thing productive. It is a menace still continuing.
Communist utopia. Government of kerala did nothing till now to improve quality of life of keralites from 1960 onwards. Traditional culture of keralires that they live hygienically own independant houses and go other countries all over or other parts of India for lifting standard living of their families. For the past 30 yrs development wise kerala is top behind other better states. It is foreign remittance keeping the state look nice. All major kerala based industries left state and all public sector industries in ICU. Now some traders are getting vide state support. Reason for backwardness is Communism and nonsensual trade unionanism especially by communist backed ones. Now there is large communal polarisation too. No standard industries, infra, education or medical facilities offered by state. State do not generate revenue by its policies and too and inject too much politiking in daily life. Rice vegetable cultivation droping drastically. No policies to support small agriculturists due to motivated political attitude. Worstly administered state under communists. This is my experience from 60 yrs
communism must be banned
Keπ@la Its a Fasad, Communist, Marxist Narcessit, fanatic Kabal built on the lies, always lives in denial that they have a problem inside a autocratic Marxist Communist run kabal. Standung on the verge of Economic Collaps. It has become a haven for radical Islam, ISIS and hub for rampat christian missionaries running a conversion factory but Narcissists blatantly denies this reality. And being just educated does Not make oneself civilised, region where Intolerance rules and Killings are common thing just bcoz one has a diiference of opinion about politics, language or faith. Hiding facts and painting & advertising Rosy Cozy picture of the state is a worrisome state of affairs in the Foreign Gods Own Country.😅😅

Kerala can either be upcoming bengal or upcoming tamil nadu,if it doesn't change it's economic model all this social developement glory will fade over a decade or two
Unlike TN, there is hardly any land available for big industries
@@keriddunk1520 that's because of their communist policy of land redistribution to the poors, the Kerala government can still make land available by buying back land from farmers like other states like TN, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka,UP do but it lacks money as they don't have proper revenue structure as it's lacks industries as it has done over spending in social schemes it's like a loop and also they have taken heavy loans so they can barely take any loans, and because of that reason the social development glory will also fail within a decade or two
@@Lifestyle12360 the land cost is 3 or 4 times other states even in rural areas . Its impossible to buy land back at that rate
Kerala can create good state universities providing high quality courses with best research facilities, and can have a good economy in field of education, after all best business in India is education
Economic model of the state needs to change
Definitely Kerala has best social indicators but economic model is extremely unviable, the state government's overspending in social development with barely spending a penny to create proper industrial ecosystem has made it a bankrupt state, now only way for kerala is to reduce social spending by huge amount which will affect the social indicators in short run and use that money to give incentives to companies to establish manufacturing,IT and R&D facility so that Kerala does some justice to it's well educated Youth, investing in industrial developement will create proper economic model which can be used for social developement in future this is the only sustainable way, otherwise it will become bankrupt and will completely lose social indicator merits in few decades and may have to face same fate as what bengal is facing currently

State is rich , people are poor and dumb knowing only one language that's Tamil
Says a bimaru from Oop🤡
Richness is something very relative, per capita is higher than other states it can be seen in the number of facilities you get if you live in a rich state like better job opportunities, better healthcare, better infrastructure, better education opportunities, better business environment,if richness means huge skyscrapers to you then it's something you can't see in India coz of FSI which stops from building high rise buildings
