Canopy Build Ep 2
Welcome to episode 2 of our Ford Ranger Canopy build. Sorry it has taken so long, the canopy was actually completed over 3 weekends, then we go the car and caravan weighed, and then we had family arrive to stay with us for 3 week, so we have been a little time poor this last couple of months. I finally got around to editing the episode this last few days and it's finally ready to view. We also talk over our weights, and how much this whole set up cost us!! We hope you enjoy the episode. But first sit back and relax and crack a beer if you like, but here's episode one. If you like our contact please don't forget to like and subscribe.

Hey guys, this episode was a weekend away in York. We actually went out to meet up with another UA-camr who was hosting a group overnight camp, this is the first time that we have done one of these so we were a bit out of our comfort zone. Welcome back to another episode, this episode we are at Winderabandi Point on the Ningaloo Reef. This was always going to be the mainstay of this trip, it most definitely did not disappoint, apart from a bit of heavy cloud cover the first 2 days, the next 4 days could not have been more perfect. Hey guys, love your set up and what you do to show us all! Just a quick question, I have a ford ranger with similar accessories and about to make the jump to a fixed mount canopy from MRT. Just wondering if you went the 1650 or the 1800 canopy and if there is much weight difference between the two? Also curious as to what GVM upgrade you guys have. Cheers 😊

    • @dazzag1683
      @dazzag1683 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching, we when for the 1650 canopy as recommended for a duel cab, I did not research an 1800 canopy at all so I’m not sure on the weight difference. I’m sure MRT would be able to give you that information. I opted for a pedders 3500kg GVM upgrade as I had pedders on the front and rear anyway, even though the rear shocks I had weren’t able to be upgraded so had to purchase another set. I would imagine most companies offer similar quality GVM upgrades. If you have any other questions about our setup I will be happy to answer them for you.

    Hi great video thx awesome work, canopy looks great. I know you weighed car before the canopy install, did see the car weight in this video, can you tell me the weight difference between the tub and canopy and the new canopy thx

    • @asweadventureaus4264
      @asweadventureaus4264 5 місяців тому

      Hey, so when we got it weighed with the old tub and canopy it was 3035, and with the new chassis mount canopy it came in at 3145, so yes we did gain weight, but that’s because we now have a bigger fridge, 2 permanent mounted solar panels vs the portable one we used to have, not to mention everything else installed inside the new bigger canopy, oh and a much bigger awning than the one we had before. Our biggest concern was that we remain compliant with our weights and we are happy that we have achieved that, even with all the extras.

      Hi, thanks for your message, Darren and I have both ridden bikes since young teenagers, there was only a few short years since then that we’ve been without bikes, don’t get me wrong, we both love riding, Darren already misses not having a bike so maybe one day he will get another bike. There’s a couple of reasons, long story but what sealed the deal for me is that our daughter was killed in a motorcycle accident 16 months ago, she was a confident rider herself, but on this day she was a pillion passenger and put her trust in a ‘friend’ who chose to speed, and lost control. He survived, she died at the scene, forever 31. Never say never, there may come a day when I’m ready to ride again, but until then!

      @asweadventureaus4264 My heart goes out to you both....that's just terrible. I'm from Canberra and was the 1st at the scene to a roadbike accident (I was on a dirtbike at the time) and it made me sell all of my bikes as well, road and dirt!.....It had such an effect on me. For over a year I couldn't look at another bike! It took a lot of soul searching to realise, the bike itself isn't dangerous and therefore I started riding again, although I choose who I ride with know very carefully. I wish you all the best and I've subscribed to your channel ❤️

    • @asweadventureaus4264
      @asweadventureaus4264 6 місяців тому

      Hey mate, well spotted, unfortunately the 355 taillights are extremely sensitive and wouldn’t work with our tow pro. The tow pro takes a feed from the taillight circuit and those lights didn’t like it, so we had no option other than to get the standard lights, which work great. A bit disappointing but hey, gotta pick your battles. The cost difference was refunded.
