The Exiled Queen
Приєднався 22 лют 2022
In memoriam Ofra Haza (1957-2000) and her wonderful music.
Bat-Sheva Ofra Haza (Hebrew: בת-שבע עפרה חזה) (19 November 1957-23 February 2000) was an Israeli singer, songwriter and actress, commonly known in the Western world as "the Madonna of the East". Her voice has been described as a tender mezzo-soprano.
Of Mizrahi Jewish (Yemenite-Jewish) descent, Ofra's music is known as a mixture of traditional Middle Eastern and commercial singing styles, fusing elements of Eastern and Western instrumentation, orchestration and dance-beat, as well as lyrics from Mizrahi and Jewish folk tales and poetry. By the late 1980's, Ofra was an internationally successful artist appearing regularly on MTV. During her singing career, she earned many platinum and golden discs and her music proved highly popular also in the club scene. By the 1990's, she regularly featured in movie soundtracks, such as that of Dick Tracy (1990) and the Prince of Egypt, and her vocals were popularly sampled in hip-hop too.

Shir Ha’Mea (Song of the Century) – Ofra Haza (1987)
Lyrics and music: Efi Netzer
Adaptation: Nancy Brandis
Originally from a radio record from 1987. The song was written to mark the 100 years of industry in the Land of Israel. Ofra is accompanied by the chorus of the Haifa Refineries.
Lyrics (English translation):
This is a song for the entrepreneur, for the perfecter of the product
For the farmer, for the milk man
This is a song for the engineer, the draftsman, the singer
And with that mouth we will sing from the heart
For the airplane designer, for the textile worker
For the manager of the carpentry factory
For those who pour the steel, who drill the missile
For all these we will sing and sing
Be a real singer for the workers, who sang a song for the producers
Sing praises for the exporter, how a hundred years have passed
Be a real singer for the factory, give respect for the creation
Sing a song of great hope for industrial life
Life is work, work is life
It is our bread that changes generation after generation
We will be wise and strong and pleasant people
On our face all the good will pass
This is the song of songs about a century gone by
In which we have come this far together
This is how we will walk hand in hand towards another century
To an independent and solid future
To work and work, to work and work
Be a real singer for the workers, who sang a song for the producers
Sing praises for the exporter, how a hundred years have passed
Be a real singer for the factory, give respect for the creation
Sing a song of great hope for industrial life

Beloved Angel ,we´ll never forget you , Ofra Haza forever
Ethernal masterpiece

How Is this album called?
שיר השירים בשעשועים Shir Hashirim Besha'ashu'im (The Song of Songs In Amusement)
Hope yo I can upload again soon! 🙏🏻 Wishing for the day when we get Ofra’s very final (unreleased) songs.
Wishing so much for a “Lazarus” moment. 💔🙏🏻
Resurrect Oh Ofra!!
Very beautiful!
A Serbian poet, speaking about the premature and tragic death of one of our great actresses said "EITHER THERE IS NO GOD, OR HE TAKES ANGELS TO KEEP HIM COMPANY". Every time I hear Ofra Haza I remember those words. Rest in peace, angel Ofra.
Sad but beautiful 😥 Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank u for uploading this
You're very welcome! 😊
O Father, as I listen to this , it brings memories of watching the movie with my children. May we never forget the covenant that God made with ABRAHAM, ISAAC, and JACOB in Genesis 17, Psalm 105:8-11" He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac . He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant : TO YOU I WILL GIVE THE LAND OF CANAAN AS THE PORTION YOU WILL INHERIT." To this day..your LAND and the nation of ISRAEL still fighting physically for the PROMISED LAND. MAY THE CHURCH OF GOD CONTINUE TO STAND WITH YOUR NATURAL INHERITANCE, FOR YESHUA YOU CAN TRACE YOUR GENEALOGY TO KING DAVID. FATHER WE PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM, THE CITY OF OUR GOD. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️🛐🕎🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
Thank you ❤🙏Shalom

I swear there's a different version on the greatest hits one that sounded a lot more like it belonged on the album Temptation.
Yes, her compilation albums often contain different versions or re-recordings of her songs.

Can you upload subtitles?
There are Hebrew subs, which can be auto-translated to your preferred language 😉 Check the options! I cannot really add anything more to it, these translations are pretty fair.
I added English subtitles, for your convenience 😉 Maybe this way I could catch some phrases better.

Beautiful and sweet duet
Thanks for this. Can you translate her interview from the Yair Lapid show from 1997?
Will do soon 😉
Nice little comedy at the beginning. Ofra pretending to be “Barbara Streisand?”
Not quite, it's about Gidi wanting to find some megastar to sing a duet with and he tells his assistant who to call up. But eventually, he picks Ofra. 😊
❤Ofra
❤
thank you for the translation
Beautiful! Is there also a video of this?
