THE OLD FARTS GARAGE.
United States
Приєднався 8 лип 2013
Just an Old Retired Fart in the California Central Valley Tinkering in the Garage and doing it Old School. Because back in our day we tried to fix things first . whether it's simple Woodworking, basic Welding, Autobody & Paint, Photography, Fishing, Guns & Reloading, Army Talk, Gardening, or just whatever BS is on my mind, I'm just here enjoying my retirement.
63C10 restoration: New Makeshift Paint Booth
So after my last Makeshift Paint Booth was destroyed by our winter storms I decided to look for a "HOPEFULLY" sturdier and longer one, cause after I mounted the bed back on there was no room in the front and back to move around in, so I couldn't finish my paint job. but now I have a new one and I'm ready to finish the job.

So I was attempting to fix a crack on the pistol to my Bench Sandblaster. It’s obviously a learning experience that is requiring more practice.

Fernando, I really enjoy watching your videos! You show and tell it like it is with the bad and good! Looking forward to your next video! Hope your channel grows!
Thank You Phil, really appreciate it.
I Love factory smoke's from Drew Estates. A smooth tasty cigar for the cheap price
Exactly 👍🏽 these are my during the day cigars and on weekends I splurge 🤣
I just got this gun and sprayed a hood and a bedside (clear coat) Used my cheaper R 500 for base. Really enjoy this gun. Got a real nice finish with 3 coats on the hood. Someone else commented about having 5 of the R500 type guns and none of them sprayed well??? I don't get that at all. Might not be the gun.... Ole Bondo Billy has used them for 20 years for everything! Show winning classic cars. So it ain't the gun, its the hand holding the gun.
Thank You for your comment, I glad to to hear the gun work great for you, when I sprayed my Single Stage, I was in awe, cause that was my first hand at spraying and it worked great for me also. Yeah I like watching Billy’s videos , sad to hear he’s loosing his eye site.
Be careful with getting that flame on the magnets. If you heat a magnet up too much, it will lose its magnetic properties
Yes, thank you for that advice, since then I’ve purchased an adjustable nozzle and retired that old school nozzle.
First time watching your channel, I have a’66 Chevy step side and hey I like a little gardening too lol
Cool !, Thanks @peterroper7471 really appreciate it. Yeah it’s taking me a while to get my truck done but I’m plugging along . I to enjoy gardening and landscaping. I’m a stickler for a well groomed yard😂🤣

Thats awesome dude! Maybe I'll change my channel name to Wet farts garage and I can start getting subs. 🤣
Thanks Brother 🤘🏽🤘🏽. Cool name😂🤣😂 hey anything is possible 🤣😂
Get a life he wasn't that good.
What size air compressor did you use? Very good job!! Looks good!
Congratulations! 🎉
Congratulations!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Congrats!
I’m sooo glad that’s fixed for you now! Knowing your speed when you drive is very helpful. 😂
Good to see you're back at it. I know I definitely lack motivation when the weather is bad
Yeah , that’s the unfortunate of winter to me also , just can’t motivated when it’s cold and raining outside 😬 but it’s spring now and I’m back for more. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Fernando Learning a lot from your vides. Thank you. I have a 63 stepside C10 pickup and having a problem finding Headlamp Backing Plates. Do you anyone or any place where I can locate a set. Thanking you in advance
Thank You Bill, really appreciate that. There’s a guy on Facebook, R&D Truck Parts RaDTruckParts@gmail.com I’ve done business with them and had good experience. Good Luck.
How was the overspray?
Honestly by my experience I can say that it really wasn’t bad at all. Now granted This is my very first paint job I’ve ever done. But with that for it being my first paint job, because of the simplicity of using the gun , and how good my paint job came out, it has boosted my confidence in knowing that I can do this.
@theoldfartsgarage heck yeah! I think I'm going to buy one
I really hope it works for you as good as it did for me. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you! I was lost when it came to the wheels! Lol. No instructions were provided and their website doesn't offer any help either.
I’m glad to hear you were able to make it work. I’m sorry about the audio, I don’t know what happened.
Great job looking forward to seeing it done I bought I
Thank you. And I hope your paint gun works as well for you as it did for me. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thought about doing my hood and sail panels red.on the Chevy bow tie. 😂Maybe one day
Very nice 👌 It takes a while to bring this emblems back to life ❤ Looking great 👍 I got three of the windshield chrome. Missing upper drivers side piece. If anyone has it three don't work 🤷Wide Style like mine.
Thanks, yes it does take some patience, but for its therapeutic actually 😊
Looks like there is room left for another stone. Is this true? Any sense of who it's reserved for?
Honestly I don’t know, I was just visiting my daughter and she invited us to go see his grave site. And I decided to just video tape it. Sorry.
Oh no, what a shame. Hopefully the truck wasn't damaged.
Just a small paint chip on top of the cab where the frame of the canopy broke and hit the truck but the rest is ok.
Looks great! I got one of those guns, but haven't been able to test since it got chilly where I live. Can't wait 'til it warms up a little bit. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, yeah it is a great beginner gun , and for never painting before, I was able to spray my truck and feel like a pro. I’m also anxious to get back to painting, but like you, just too cold. I hope it works for you like it did for me, good luck. Come on Spring 🤣
It is what it is…whether you like it or not, right? 😉
Same here. The ranch got very soggy. Good thing I got the roof repaired way back in October and at my house too! I stayed indoors all day with Mrs & granddaughter. Wow! Major work!
You look a lot like my youngest son, except he’s 37😁😁
😂🤣🤘🏽 I’ll take that as a compliment.
Your video reminds me that i should pick up some equipment for what i have in mind. Good inventory to keep in thought!
Yeah it’s just enough for my needs 👍🏽👍🏽 Thanks. 😊
@theoldfartsgarage It's better setup than me. I am better at 35mm Canon AE1 stills.
Nice for first time congratulations sir
Thank You Sir 👍🏽👍🏽
you lost me when you started rambling, instead of getting down to the business at hand.
Thx for uploading this. Loved it.
Really? Bruce Lee is (Resting?) He's just resting and NOT DEAD? I highly suggest you edit your post to reflect the truth "Bruce Lee's burial site" he's buried in the ground. You can NOT redefine the the word: Rest/resting. Good day.
Hello everybody! 👋🏼😂
When I stream, my wife does the same. She says hello off scream. I have too many hobbies, that is why, I have a 3 car full of my interests (hobbies) !
Lucky, I only have a 2car. 😂🤣😂 I hear you, we also have to deal with all the interruptions that go on in the world outside while we record🤣but I enjoy doing it. no such thing as too many Hobbies, that’s one of our lifelines.
@@theoldfartsgarage I agree with you! When we bought this house many years, she liked certain features of the house, but the 3 car garage was the only thing that got my attention. You are right about not having too many hobbies.
@@EngTecher 😂🤣 that’s all I ever want to see when buying a house.
Nice hobby!!
Bed rails are hard and tempered plus a little drill oil helps
Yes it is. After the video I turned up the speed and used a better bit. And yes I did have some oil on it. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it 👍🏽👍🏽
25:21 Turn up the rpm’s and new drill bit for an update!!!!
I did after I finished recording my video. And it drilled right through it.
Cressey California with the C10s on the River is about 50 miles north of my location. Good info on the paint gun. what did you use for air.
Hello EngTeacher sorry for the late response, & thank you for reaching out. Yes so the gun absolutely shot like a professional style spray gun, and what I have for my air supply is a . “ 80 Gallon , INGERSOL RAND AIR COMPRESSOR. “ I hope this helps you. And maybe we’ll see you in October for the next C10’s ON THE RIVER,
@theoldfartsgarage I will keep it in mind and my calendar
Thats what i did to 57 with plywood in the bed
Yeah , it’s a daily drive and I will be using it as a truck, so there’s no sense in having fancy wood.
I have yet to try painting & wet sanding. At this time, i am just doing the mechanical, the brakes, beds, brakes, steering & running. i am keeping the patina as is but just make it usable.
Understandable, I have my running gear, brakes, engine, basically done. the funny thing is I too was just going to clean it up and I took one fender off to replace it 🤦🏽♂️and it just snowballed from to a full restoration 😂 I’m halfway done with my doors but the weather has slowed me down at the moment. I’m surprised at how easy painting actually is, it just looks a little intimidating 🤣
Nice paint color combination. Fremando
Thank you 😊
Great work my friend
Thank You Sir 👍🏽👍🏽
epic.
Thank You sir
I love that you leave your bloopers in! 😂😂
Dude it's coming along great! hope the rockers aren't giving you too much trouble
Thank you for your support, no , actually the rockers didn’t need a whole lot of work, so I didn’t have to replace them, I was able to easily patch them up.
Nice video!
