Timelapse Rebuilding Part of our 200 Year Old Farm (1800)
Timelapse of the reconstruction of a part of our more than 200 year old farm. In 2019 we started the demolition but due to many problems such as the corona we were only able to finish it in 2024. But now there is a beautiful and safe building that we want to convert into an apartment to rent out during the holidays!

Reinforcing foundation. We create an extra foundation to strengthen the walls and roof construction. We do this to prevent the roof from sinking in the future and the walls from falling out.

Really am impressed by your hard work and skills guys well done, I've subscribed.
Thank you for the kind words and subscribing.
Love what you did here. I live in Pennsylvania Dutch country and I've seen many barn raisings and admired many timber framed barns. It's just my preference but I would have done two things differently. I love the strength of "Wedged" scarf joints. If timbers shrink, even a tiny bit, the wedges can be tapped in to make the scarf as strong as ever. Second...I would have cut a knee brace where your ridge beam over hung for the dormer into the old roof. The tile roof and the valley tie ins are so beautiful. We really don't do the tile roof thing here and it's a shame, they are so beautiful. Thank you for your time. First look at the channel!
Hey Steve, Thanks for your response to the video. I understand what you mean. There are so many ways to build a roof structure and I assumed the craftsmanship of people here. In the Netherlands where I originally come from, you don't see this kind of construction much anymore unfortunately. Here in the Czech Republic, many roofs are also covered with metal in the look of roof tiles. But I don't like that at all, it makes noise when it rains, less insulating and it looks a bit fake. We are super happy with this look!
Free will !!!! 😂😂 🐓

It time consuming to make something so beautiful and not everyone can do it. You have been blessed with great ability and the original architect would be very proud of your progress.
Thank you bigfoot. I have help from a professional and learn a lot from them. We are very happy with what has been created.

Good job documenting your progress. Well done.
Thank you very much Rebecca, it's fun to do!
I see the beauty of the old handiwork of the ruined boards. You all are doing an amazing job of removing the old. This is going to be a work of art when you all have completed your new roof. From Texas USA.
Thank you very much Rebecca. It was a shame to get rid of the old beams, but yes, the roof must be safe and good. We are very satisfied now 😍 The next step 😀 ua-cam.com/users/shortsh-PKqLPNiqg?si=fE9gMGPmfsBp3KI8

Laying plastic on the ground is to prevent damp coming up from the ground not to stop it going down into the ground…….. Great project!
