This is absolute Disney cringe but I have to. Enjoy!
Maintenance fees increase each year; it would be better to increase by 4-6% per year.
Very informational
Great video. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem with me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S.
This is not a loophole. You can do this at any resort in the world. Some resorts will charge for it some will only do a few days at a time. This subject on social media is a big Firestarter. It is all because people don't think. They don't think of ways to make their lives easier or think of ways to make the booking process work for them. They also don't think about booking FIRST at their home resort at 11-Months, then trying to change to a non-home resort and walking the booking at 7-Months.
can you modify on the same day, or do you have to wait until the start date window of the new one occurs
Same day, same minute.
Looking to propose to my girlfriend at a Maui resort would this one be good?!
When we were in Aulani last month, the food was incredible. We did Makahiki character breakfast, dinner, ate at ama ama without the kids, ate at the oleo room, and off the hook. It was expensive but never had a bad meal!
I’m so glad to hear this. My family wants to go back but the food was such a struggle. Maybe they’ve turned it around.
It’s unethical, because it’s not using as intended. But like you said, you aren’t much concerned about that.
I don’t love that people can do this. BUT I also want to have a fair opportunity to get travel dates that work for our family. So it’s a catch 22.
This was very helpful. Thank you.

I been on a few ride breakdowns (Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise and Storybook). One of my Disneyland goals: Spacemountain breakdown.
It’s happened twice within the last 2 trips. And we were filming both times. I think if you ride it enough this happens!
very helpful review thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Appreciate this video and information! Sad to hear but not really surprised. Disappointing because I think Disneyland Hotel and its legacy deserved so much more in terms of quality! Your video was super helpful for us to set appropriate expectations when we spend our points here. ❤
Exactly, it's just good to set those expectations! I mean no matter what, you're in Disney, so I'm still grateful. It just fell a little short, but I hope they can fix some of this stuff.
Decades ago, my dad took me to Disneyland, and we got stuck in Space Mountain also. Lights on and mechanics came out to release each car from it's block brake spot, one at a time. And we were near the beginning of the ride, watching each other car go through. In the dark, you have no idea how close those supports are. It was a lot scarier with the lights on.
we were there in January 2023 and we thought the food was awesome! We're going back next January and can't wait
Maybe it was the time of year we went? Idk
P r o m o S M 😘
Wow!!! Anybody else hear the Axles and wheels screeching, grinding, and squealing after the breaks released and they go around a few curves. That's not a good sign. Sounds like they need to grease a few things up or replace somthing. After hearing that I don't think I would wanna go around again. Though that loud music playing covers the grinding and screeching of the wheels and axles quite nicely, doesn't it?
Oh gosh, you’re so right! We don’t even notice on the ride, but is that not how it normally sounds?
@DisneyFastForward In my young years, I worked for theme parks and operated several roller coasters, steel and wooden. Now, normally on a wooden rollercoaster. Yeah, those squealing And grinding sounds are pretty normal Because those have steel rails and steel wheels just like a train does. Steel Coasters like space mountain. Have A whole different type of wheel set up That is supposed to create a more quieter and smoother ride.. I noticed in the video that it only really squealed and grinded when it went around a tight turn. So I'd say The noise is probably the guide wheel bearings. Not getting lubricated properly or need replaced and the sound you hear is the bearings grinding And squealing When a lot of pressure is applied to them going around the Turns. ( Though I did just watch A video that stated that Disney had to rip out almost all the track. And replace it A few years ago.because of the new style of cars That they have updated too With the added sound system. was too heavy for the old Track to support and it was causing structural issues. So I wonder if they replaced all the track And if they didn't, the sound could also be coming from the old sections of track that is still there. Putting a squeeze on the wheel assembly Which in turn Is putting a lot of pressure on the bearings Causing it to squeal and grind And if that's the case, they're gonna be changing them out a lot.
I love learning stuff like this, I used to want to be an imagineer and make rides. Super cool, thank you for sharing!
The best tip should be to rent a car and explore the island. It will be cheaper than the excursions through the resort.
Thank you for adding this suggestion - YES! Get off property and explore
I wonder if they’ll bring back the galactic ghost for space mountain. I never got to experience that layover.
Ohhhh I didn’t know this was a thing! I’ll have to look it up! I love overlays
@@DisneyFastForward it was in the past
Unfortunately they’re not bringing it back, too many complaints that it was too scary for little ones
I remember before they added music!
Wow! No music?
My first time to Disneyland was in 1984. Lots of changes since then!
I miss the chocolate-chip cookie.
Lights on my ass
So one big thing to take into account and forgive me if I missed this in your video but since you chose this as example it feels applicable. If you buy resale at the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, you are locked out of the other 16 resorts and can only use your points there. Not only that, but the villas at Disneyland Hotel also has a transient tax that is applied at checkout whenever a DVC member stays at the Disneyland Hotel. In 2024, this transient tax is an additional 2.78. Since you can ONLY use your points at Disneyland Hotel , you essentially are adding that 2.78 per point onto your dues. So realistically, your dues are now 9.53+2.78= 12.31 per point. 24450 + 12.31*150*50= 116,775. 116775/50= 2335 per week. You quoted the buy in for direct to be 11400 more than resale which I noticed you did not take into account incentives at the 150 point mark for direct which to be fair is only 5 dollars off per point so 750 dollars saved making the difference 10650. This does also not take into account the fact that Disney gives you double points your first year when you buy direct. You are able to sell these points back for 20 dollars per point. 20*150= 3,000. 116775 (amount we calculated for resale)+10650 (additional cost to buy direct)-3000 (reimbursement for selling 150 points)= 124,425. 124425/50= 2488 per week IF you use all of your points at the Disneyland Hotel which you are not required to since this is a direct purchase. This number will be less if you use your points at other resorts because you won’t be forced to pay the transient taxes. Personally, I’m willing to pay the extra 8 grand to have my points unrestricted for the next 50 years. Also, since you can stay at places other than VDH with direct points, you will not always have to pay the transient occupancy tax that you do when staying at Disneyland Hotel. If the only place you want to stay at is the Disneyland Hotel then have at it, resale is the way to go. But if you ever want to use the points at Disney World or Aulani, buy direct when purchasing the Villas at Disneyland Hotel. This also doesn’t take into account the fact that dues will continue to rise every year between 1-6%. So the numbers I posted above are the MINIMUM it will cost you which really makes that 8 grand really seem even less important in the grand scheme of things although it is a lot more money to pay upfront, consider how much that flexibility is worth to you. I apologize for the long comment and in depth analysis. I like math and I also like DVC as we have over 600 points.
I struggled with whether to include the restrictions and transient tax because I wanted to have it be a more general discussion. But you’re right, those restrictions would have to make it so that you LOVE that property to only stay there. That said, in my opinion, the points are a bad trade if you use them at other resorts because they are so expensive to any other property aside from Grand Cal. I have grand cal points and would never use them anywhere else because then I lose money.
@@DisneyFastForwardAre the prices at VDH direct really all that dissimilar from other properties selling direct right now like Riviera and CFW? I wouldn’t feel bad about using VDH points at other resorts like I would if I used VGC points somewhere else personally. It is a lot easier to swap into VDH at 7 months than it is to swap into VGC. The other issue this creates is if you have a trip cancellation or something last minute occurs like a death or medical emergency, your points will go into holding and you being only able to book VDH pretty much means you will be losing those points because we both know there’s nothing available at VDH with 2 months left. If you have direct points, you would be able to at least rent out those points and get some of the money back by booking Saratoga Springs, OKW or a Poly Bungalow or something just so you can get SOME money back.
Also dues go up every year, so the $9.53 per point and total of $95k will be significantly higher at the end of 50 years. VDH is a great resort, but probably not the best example for a beginner into DVC .
This was click bait
I’m sorry you felt like that! This is one of my favorite videos. Everyone is entitled to their opinion!
The person that dropped the F bomb in front of all those kids should be ashamed of themselves!
Agreed!
eh how else will they learn
Hate to say that this isn't really *exclusive* as there are many videos of Space Mountain with the lights on, broke down, etc. But I digress, regardless, it's a very cool experience! I've experienced it first hand, and a video can't really convey the feeling and sights as you do in person. Everything looks SO tight and you feel like you're going smack your head against the support beams inside! It's almost scarier with the lights on!
It sure felt exclusive, but I totally understand what you’re saying! Thank you for your feedback.
Original ride and music was the best.
They should bring the old music back for a limited time run.
This is such a good idea, I didn’t realize there were so many people who miss the old music! Now I want to experience it for myself!
While you were in the station The train in front of you on the left stopped and passengers had to be helped off That's a known space mountain red flag that there is a bigger problem What they should have done Shut the ride down and fix it The ride at both parks In the US needs an overhaul and they don't want to spend the money
This is so fascinating! You seem like you have some insider knowledge. Do you know what the usual suspects are for this ride breaking down? I’d love to know more.
I dont think this is really controversial. It really just separates the guests who really put more thought & effort into securing the dates they want. Non DVC guests do this modification technique all the time with regular reservations and there is nothing wrong with the practice. Sometimes you have to pateniently stalk out the dates you want...they do fill up fast! Thanks for the great video.
I have to agree. I think it’s just effective to know how to use the system! But the number of heated threads I have read on the subject let me know not everyone thinks so lol. Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you! I totally agree.
Kudos. Thank you.
Very welcome, thank you for stopping by by!

That's cool, they let you go again.
They were so gracious to let us do that! I'm glad, because we didn't get the full experience to begin with.
Disney is very good about doing this for their guests. The cast members know that guests pay a lot to enjoy their days at the Magic Kingdom, and if they can, they'll do what they're permitted to make the experience the best possibly.
Same when I was stuck on space mountain ride.
great introduction video!
Thank you!
Super helpful tips! We hope to go to Aulani in the next few years. We've been trying to wait until our kids are a bit older and can travel the long distance a bit better. Super disappointing that the food isn't good though...
Oh yes, but the fix is easy - just got off resort property for food! The rest is so easy and fun.
We just back from 2 weeks at Aulani. 4 of our party have never been to Disney. We thought the food was great. The fish was fresh and the burgers were juicy. The monkey pod was just average at best. We were there while the the place was full.
@@donernst6680 oh that's good to hear! Thanks for sharing! We are hoping to make it out there in the next couple of years!
Oh dear! This is the only travel to Aulani video I've ever seen. Everyone seems to love the food. WE loved the food. Maybe get an indication when this blogger says the grab and go has cheerios.... Check out other Aulani videos.
was this on december 30?
It was on Dec. 24th! Did it break down the 30th also?
@@DisneyFastForward It breaks down a lot, the reason is because it goes down to cascades (station backups) that's why when it goes down, it usually is up and running within 15-20 mins
This is fascinating.
Yes the music change is sad. It was incredible. The music to change is the small world music lol.
I didn't realize the music changed until you made this comment and then looked it up - you're right!
It's a small world after all!
I miss this place! Stayed here for a week on our honeymoon in 2019
It truly is a beautiful spot
AWESOME!!!
Thanks!!
I remember riding this as a little kid with my dad. He would take me, my brother and sister as kids like every summer. I thought it was the coolest ride lol. I went a few years ago with my son and ex wife. It was super lame I was very disappointed. The whole park is lame . It's so out dated . It's ok for ten year olds. We were all miserable, it was extremely hot . We ended up leaving early. RIP to my sister Nicole Hendershot and my dad Tom Hendershot who both died last year. I miss you guys, you were taken too soon. ♥️
I love memories like these! Sorry it was so hot and disappointing. I do agree, with littles it is still fun but I wonder how teens will feel about it all.
Interesting to see behind the curtin, but in terms of space mountain, the old music was much much better
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Anytime!
Very cool 😅
MY NEIGHBOR I’ve stayed at the Kea LANI about 15 times I’ve gone to the fourth seasons for shopping and mini memorable dinners. Great resort.
Thanks for sharing!!
How many Hyatt points a night?
25,000 i believe..? I might be wrong :<
Starting in 1996 I’ve stayed at this property about 15 times. It’s like a second home and over the years I’ve made friends of the staff and they are remarkable people the aloha spirit.
It is a beautiful resort, even just to visit. I was thoroughly impressed and Nick's Fish Market was PHENOMENAL
I really liked staying at Cabana Bay. Great tips.
Thank you! I'll have to check out Cabana Bay in person
That comes with a hefty pricetag.. For my family living over here in Norway when we go to Orlando we stay for 14 days.. But staying in a hotell like this is WAY to exppencive.. So we rent a house wich is nr 1 cheaper, nr2 we can cook (i love to cook) nr 3 the freedom... So as a father of 5 plus boy/girlfrieends this is what we do... BUT the room is pretty thats for sure
Agreed, it is expensive, but that's why i joined Disney Vacation Club! I hate to pay full price.
