    I used to have a spruce tree in my backyard. It was a big and beautiful evergreen tree that was already a big tree when Daddy and all of his siblings were little kids. On January 9th, 2024, the tree was uprooted due to the heavy rain and strong winds. The trunk leaned over a fence. The treetop landed on top of my garage and the neighbors' garage. The tree people came on January 18th, 2024, and cut the tree down. Now, it's January 23rd, 2024. The tree people are here removing the stump.

    Hello, I'm not sure if you're still on YT but if so, I have a question. I purchased a 7' Acer Rubrum Freemanii (Autumn Blaze Maple "Jeffsred") last year from an online tree company. Sadly they topped it to fit in the shipping box and now I'm left with 5 competing leaders. None are an obvious dominant upright. I know we will need to structure prune to a central leader but what if all competing leader branches are equally angled away from the trunk and none are growing completely upright? Also how long should we wait to try to correct this issue? Thanks for any info you might be able to share. I will never buy an online tree again.

    I've killed over 3000 in the past 2 weeks with a fly swatter and water pistol. As usual prevention is not a big thing in our country, so you hear all this advice about private citizens or companies, but where is a federal defense against a pest causing massive economic damage?

    Now I'm not an arborist, and don't even play one on TV, but after battling the Tree Of Heaven I can say that what you have shown is not a guaranteed removal. If even a tiny amount of root is left, be prepared for 3 more saplings to grow in its place. Soak the thing in glyphosate and be done with it. Coat the leaves (underside too) and stem. Then smile with glee as it dies a slow death, taking the roots with it.

    • @giroudtree
      @giroudtree 3 роки тому

      This is a good point! In this video, Mike focused on the easiest, non-chemical method for removal. This is great for homeowners who want to keep on top of them when they are young saplings. I will add a link to our blog post which details more about treating the stumps of larger removals so they don't re-sprout. Thanks for your feedback!

      The round up will only kill the roots if you apply during the late summer months any other time the tree isn’t moving nearly as much sugars through the root system to knock it out. I prefer to girdle the main tree trunk, spray from about 24-36 inches high all the way down to the base of the tree during mid July. This has always worked and guarantees to kill 80% + of root suckers and runners and sprouts without harming any native species or non target species
