Alaska 2021 V3 Kobuk to King Salmon
V3 covers the flight from the Kobuk River to King Salmon. We stop on the way in Unalakleet for gas and then straight to King Salmon.
Kobuk River to Unalakleet = 250 miles
Unalakleet to King Salmon = 375 miles
In a total of 625 miles the only village we fly over was Unalakleet.
The great interior of Alaska is vast and mostly uninhabited. If you love wilderness, this is the place.

Alaska 2021 V1 Flight to the Kobuk
Переглядів 903 роки тому
It's been a lifetime, almost 40 years, since I was last in Alaska, 1982 and I was 30 years old. A long time friend invited me on a trip to his favorite fishing spot, and it just so happens that it's in Alaska, so I had to say yes. This trip spans 10 days, starting in Fairbanks and taking us to the Kobuk River in the Brooks Range, then to King Salmon on Bristol Bay, and finally out to Anchorage....

This was the last video of the canoe while in the shop (I was closing the shop after 20 years, getting ready for retirement). It's not 100% complete, but close. Taken 2018-05-16

This is the sunken hull of the steam ship "Klondike". It's been in the middle of the river for over ??? years now. Very cool.

We had been on the Teslin a few days by now and were sitting in camp when we heard something upriver. What we saw was pretty amazing. A home built raft made from complete logs, lashed together with cables, complete with a bar and a fire pit in the middle. It was built in Whitehorse by Rob, and they are trying t o get all the way to Dawson. I wish them luck.

My daughter and I spent about two weeks camping/canoeing in the Yukon. The Teslin-Yukon trip was the best (Johnsons Crossing to Carmacks). There are three short Videos in this river trip series.

This was the start of a week long trip back into the east arm of Frances Lake, Yukon. The lake was glass smooth and the fishing for Northern Pike was great.

Cutler Res. is in Logan, Utah, on the Bear River. The 21' Hudson Bay Freighter is lightly loaded with three people, gas, and a little food. Maybe about 900 lbs. Got a top speed of 17.5 mph at full throttle.

Thanks 👍I just checked my youtube and saw this comment. It was great meeting you and Kevin on the Kobuk. You guys were the only people we saw during our 4 days on the river. I hope the rest of your time in Alaska was as good as that day. Jim Engle, jimengle@automationengineering.com
